Seeing a melon comment with 137 likes is crazy! Love your content (in case you see this)
Feefo: When you have a title like Watch The Throne-
Ken: SO YOU SAYIN' THAT'S NOT THE TITLE?
Myke: …What?
Ken: Alright.
get your ass back on RG lol
OG Nick Marsh i think ken was saying does he not think the title fits the album
"I'm a hater, I'm a backpacker and I'm gay" lol cytown is too funny
U know I actually wondered if he was gay or not...
Blu Jay He's not actually gay. He was simply reciting all the "labels" he receives in the comments.
+Josh Starks
Well said.
Arran Chander I was dying when he said that.
“In 2011 I have no need for this. I have no need for fucking 16 tracks of ‘I have this, you don't,’ ‘I drive this, you don't.’”
2011 Myke wasn't ready for the Migos....
YES
lol feefo never knows what to expect.
CO8izm never bruh!😂
Nolan Flemmings he be walkin into a stripclub not knowing what to expect!!!😂😂
CO8izm LMFAO!!!
CO8izm he expect it to bump in da whip
That modest guy was about to cry
Myke's analogy of this album being the equivalent to a plain white Gucci T-shirt was spot on. Album was mediocre.
The intro song set a boring tone???? We both listened to "no church in the wild", right?
Randomly went back to see this. Why Ken look like he a smooth young 30 here 😂 and OG now. Shoutout to y'all. Long time viewer 👏🏾
Jay-Z got lazy on his raps
no no no no watch the throne was amazing. subject matter was on point, the whole album wasn't about money "myke" -Made it in America -murder to excellence - lift off - -why i love you -welcome to the jungle - new day - no church in the wild -
great verses from both, great prod. ,put together very well
I thought Lift Off was terrible. The hook was corny and the beat sucked.
the beat was great and the chorus was great my friend and jay and yeezy killed it yonce too. the hook just fit the theme of the song perfectly
JAi Noble I disagree, but to each his own.
The Boy regardless if you think it sucked or not. i included it in the list because it's one of many songs on the album that had substance.
Run The Jewels: Run The Jewels
Perfectly braggadocios.
What did they brag about?
They're skills on the mic.
Did they back it up?
Yes.
Did Ye and Jay?
No.
YESSWSSSSS
Hi melon
Every single time I watch B do that damn Jay impression I crack the hell up!
Good album. Kanye kills it here. Jay-Z not really
yes I agree,
Jay z killed it on Why I love you
New Day? Welcome to the Jungle? Why I Love You? Murder to Excellence? Primetime? Made in America? No Church in the Wild? It wasn't all braggadocio.
Nicholas Lim ZJ
They were mediocre.
k
Most of the tracks you mentioned are mid
Don't forget The Joy. Love that shit. This album was a classic in retrospect
All those songs are mediocre except for like No Church in The Wild and Made in America
Kinge, playing the politician by flat-out not stating his opinion lmao.
Now he goes into Ken Mode and he’s like “FUCK THIS ALBUM MAN” 😂
YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
interesting, thanks for sharing!
Album has aged well...def fits in their respective catalogs
No it doesn't
@@blodiaaa6990 yes it does..I didn't ask for your opinion make your own comment for that
This was the perfect channel to get me into hip-hop. Intelligent, super-rad dudes having honest back-and-forth debate about why these albums do or do not work totally changed my perspective. Thanks, guys, keep doing what you do.
I think the album is awesome. Aside from a track or two, each song has GLORIOUS samples, singing, and production.
Man idk why they hate this album so much. The lyrics were average, Kanyes flow was dope Jay Zs was average, but the beats were on point. I liked 11/16 songs and the only thing I would criticize is Jay Z not being consistent.
C-Town's laugh
The album aged way better than this review. I guess it was ahead of its time forreal.
No lie. Almost every track was fire.
🤡🤡
@@TheUndefeatedOfTheEast hell no
@@TheUndefeatedOfTheEast hell no
Sonically it was EXCELLENT... Lyrically it was cool, it was not their best but they was still spittin.
Kanye goes from My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy... To this.....
ivanthelovehammer
I wasn't even feeling that.
14:04 wow this aged well. Kanye ended up selling a plain white tee like a year later 😂
Feefo been saying I didnt know what to expect since ya'll been doing videos damn lmaooo
The way this was filmed is horrifically bad
Volt Lover this is the golden age. That raw dehh
Man, I miss when Myke have's dreads. Didn't even noticed he has old hair compared to he has the new hair now.
The production is too dope on this album shout out to ye
Just a good album cuz of Kanye. Not a fucking classic. Not a great album. Jay-Z had some bad verses on there
"Rappers hear Watch the Throne, they gon' be pissed off"
I can't stop laughing at that line.
These old ass camera angels lol
I couldn't really follow Ken's point of view on this. I couldn't tell if he liked it or not
+Edward Polenzani I think he lowkey hated it. At least thought it was mediocre.
This is that album that became better and better as time progressed.
Yeah... 2011 wasn't ready for that album, its a dope ass LP
Eh
Jas Sandhar It got worse to me, it sounds dated as hell
the chosen one the album as a whole is mediocore to me but a couple songs are one of my fav jay or kanye songs ever period (murder to excellence (THAT BEAT), gotta have it, niggas in paris, New day (beautiful), the joy, no church in the wild)
Nah man lol
Murder to excellence was a classic track.
This aged very WELL brutha
Just because it won an award, doesn't mean its any good. I see Nicki Minaj win numerous "Best Rapper" awards everywhere, do you really think she's the best rapper of 2013?
Myke's laugh sounds like Crash Bandicoot. 😂😂😂 3:17 3:46
keep sleeping on Jay's verse in Who Gon Stop Me
Such a well put together album, the mixing and sequencing are near perfect. The lyrics are so relevant and Jay and Ye are going at it, each song is a battle on who's got the better verse.
I can't lie, I fuck with this album pretty heavy. I don't think it's an Illmatic or a Madvillainy, but it's very audibly pleasing. The bangers are big, the production is lavish and expensive, and the lyrics don't make you think. It's nice to get ripped and just chill to this album.
this album has a lot of deep songs it's not a gym album wtf lmao
@@MarkanVaran7production wise it kind of is tbh
Their problem was that they thought the album was bad in conjunction with the title, hadit been called something else besides "watch the throne" would you all have liked it better?
This was when beezy was active af and talked a lot lmao
I can't believe so many ppl are bored with album. it was only like a few tracks I hated. it's not a classic but it's nice. especially compared to most recent mainstream music
This review aged horribly.. Watch the Throne is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Your ears aging horribly
What the throne bout to get PISSED off
I know this is late, but I kind of agree with Ken. A lot of people do love to just hate on Jay & Kanye so they root for it to be bad. Me being a fan of both, nearly two years later, I think it was just solid.
I re-listened to the whole album again and man it's so obvious now that it was way ahead of it's time. It's such a timeless masterpiece that, in my opinion, it solidified Jay & Ye as the two Kings of modern-day Hip-hop.
I've listened to this album a lot since it's release thinking it would grow on me and it hasn't...I wanted to like it but I just can't...bored as hell...Magna Carta is better and I hate that album too
i fucking love that opening beat. what is it?
Watch The Throne was extremely top heavy, I agree the Beyonce song sucked etc and Kanye carried the project
+King Matty B Raps I believe that is why beezy did not feel Jay. A lot of times I do feel that Jay changes a bit with his style when he jumps on something with Kanye. I still enjoyed Watch the Throne and I can listen to the whole Deluxe Edition, but I understand why they did not enjoy it and why more Jay Z fans were disappointed. I noticed that since MBDTF. Jay Z is changing his style a bit, and it sounds influenced by Ye but I still feel he is good. He is the only Hip Hop artist that did not attempt or have to change with culture. Culture changed with him through the 20 years he has been on. I see it that way anyway.
King Matty B Raps
"We're gonna blast off, Go to the Stars, take it to Mars."
So Much Depth
Bizarre N Rugged that’s a hook?
They called 'No church in the wild" forgettable but it went on to win a Grammy. Just saying.....
LikeYourShirt
Taylor Swift won a Grammy.
Justin got a Grammy
What's that tell you?
Bizarre N Rugged you right
Grammys ain’t shit
LMFAO C-towns laugh is flipping hilarious
I like that Myke somehow predicted Kanye's white t-shirt clothing line.
no church in the wild is classic damn
Checking out the old videos. Camera work has definitely come a long way. Old videos have the worst camerawork ever 😂😂
It’s so funny cause it used to make the vids so much more dramatic and chaotic lmao
Mannn these were the days!!❤️❤️💯
This review did not age well
I couldn't agree with Myke-C and his thoughts on hip-hop talking about how rich the artist is now days. It's everywhere, and I'm fucking sick of it. All you hear in hip-hop are lyrics about Rolls Royce Phantoms, Ferrari's, and Lamborghinis, etc. That shit gets so old, I don't even feel comfortable listening to it because I can't relate at all, I'm the person they're mocking for having less money than them.
This album wasn't good or bad. It was just something there. You take a few songs from it and listen to it at certain times but this album isn't one to be remembered for a long time or referenced in the future as good albums. It isn't going to be remembered which is why people disliked it so much because it is a Kanye and Jay Z collab.
This album is timeless amazing in 2024
It wasn't a good album. I'm a fan of Jay, but its mostly old Jay-Z from back in the day. Ever since Jay came back with Kingdom Come, he's been BAD. Lazy, uninspired, not dedicated. He's just bullshitting. And Kanye for me has just never been a good rapper. So that's that.
Lmao so we just gon ignore Dropout, Late Registration, Graduation and Dark Twisted Fantasy huh
I liked the album a lot. I don't understand why people say the whole albums about money though. New Day, No Church In The Wild, Murder To Excellence, Made In America, Why I Love You & Welcome To Jungle have nothing to do with money. And that's half the album. The beats were very different & had lots of melodies I thought it was good. As far as rapping goes they weren't outstanding but they did their thing.
Rod defending the culture against these bad reviews. It's a 7 for me.
THANK YOU DEHH......YOU CHANGED MY LIFE
Watch the Throne was dope to me. And a lot of the songs will be amazing when you see them perform it live on tour. And remember, Jay said they re-did the album 3 times. At first, it was over the top lyrically but they want to make it more of an album that people would enjoy. So far its up there with my top contenders of hip hop album of the year.
1. Cunninlynguists - Oneirology
2. Jay-Z & Kanye West - Watch the Throne
3. Kendrick Lamar - Section.80
4. Big K.R.I.T. - Returnof4eva
This over section 80? bruh
@@LewdConnoisseur At that every moment - yes. Right now I would put Section 80 over WTT.
@@LewdConnoisseur were you around when this dropped?
I NEEDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD THAT INTRO BEAT IN ITS ENTIRETY.
Modest media: if y'all wanna challenge me on something go head LMAO
Jay-Z made Black Album and Ye made MBDTF.. this album should've been one of the best hip hop albums ever, but it's ... ehhhhh at best
nah this is a dope album even if it’s not on the level of jay and ye’s best works. only a couple songs are wack/mid.
@@romaretaylor9953 but if you know they're capable of making Amazing work, why settle? Black Album and MBDTF are eons better than WTT
I thought it was decent. Production was on point throughout, except for That's My Bitch. I don't have any problems with Kanye on the album other than he wasn't on it as much as he should've been. Welcome to the Jungle, Who Gon Stop Me, Why I Love You were more of Jay Z ft. Kanye than Jay Z and Kanye. The parts of the album I didn't like were mostly Jay Z. He's been pretty uninspired since the Black Album, but I think being around Kanye for the whole album like he used to be back in the early 2000s got him inspired on a few tracks. 6/10
Hipsters who watch Complex loved this album
I agree with myke, Jay ruined murder to excellence, that song had so much potential
And Welcome to the Jungle is top 10 greatest HipHop song of ALL TIME. It's a genre changing song.
Jay threw is back on that joint
imagine thinking this 💀
it was good, but come on now...
that's the weakest on song on the album lmao
I absolutely loved the production on this album, but I've always felt like when it comes to Jay and kanye, the just don't come with the same tenacity that you hear in their older projects. It sounds like Jay has lost his passion for making quality, thought provoking music
They need to comback and review this again I remember not liking Ham when it came out. They wasn't ready because this shit was fire.
"Ham" is dated.
@@IllDawgablenah
I think the album was great. It's neither Jay or Ye's best piece of work, but it was very good if you ask me, there isn't a single bad song, every song is sonically and lyrically good. There are also stand out songs that are just amazing. But I think Ye's MBDTF is better, but they aren't really comparable albums, but yeah
Whether you liked Kanye/Jay's previous work doesn't & shouldn't matter. Take the music for what it is. As musicians, you don't always have to bring something different, just as long as what you're doing, is done to a high standard.
DAMN it's so crazy when you realize that Watch the Throne & this album review was almost 10yrs ago man time flies! ⏰
This album was great. i give it a solid 9 out of 10
yea modest media is right about Black Album, that one gets slept on. I put it up there with blueprint
My opinion; this album was good and respectable. Any album with Jay and Ye was going to provide elements of an incredible album and I believe WTT did just that. Some tracks better then others and I preferred Ye's verses alot but all in all I was not disappointed.
i officially have no reason to turn to t.v. for entertainment purposes yall just complted my hip-hop needs :)
I loved the album, I really don't understand how people hated it. To each his own right?
when myke says "this is college dropout era kanye" it still makes me cringe no matter how many times ive seen this review. im guessing he hasn't heard college dropout.
Bad meets Evil>>> Watch the throne
true , however Em and Royce are not on run the jewels level yet
Hell nah lmfao not even close
He likes a lot of albums, but he seems to be more of an underground kinda guy. He likes El-P, P.O.S, Killer Mike, Aesop Rock, and Death Grips, etc.
this is the best album in a while
Thanks you guys. This discussion was awesome. Your points of view were all pretty interesting. Shoutout to Mike C-Town for what he said at the beginning of the show. He really is a punk :-)
Concerning the album, WTT is not only a mediocre album. It is also a dangerous album. It epitomizes like it was never done before the conspicuous consumption. It's a shame that Jay-Z's fanboys don't seem to realize how violent this kind of attitude is to them.
No mention of gotta have it is wild
The last line by Kinge pretty much summarised it all. Another thing for us Jay&Kanye fans who thought it was aight, which is a reason why i didn't fuck with it in the beginning, was the "new" type of sound on the beats.
Love watching these guys talk about albums
This review lived up to it's hype way better than Watch the Throne did.
♥Best yet Guys♥
This was A VERY good discussion. Nah...EXCELLENT discussion.
Great analysis, I see what you mean about the album being about kings away from the Throne in the world at play. Great viewpoint
lol, finally! someone else thinks that "sweet baby jesus" shit was hilarious lmao
I'm a Jay fan, but I draw the line at The Black Album. I can't handle Jay after that
really? American Gangster and BP3 was dope man....and MCHG
Matthew Sullivan MCHG? Hahah
Matthew Sullivan BP3 is "Poppy" as hell and MGHG is a lazy lackluster excuse for an album...
American Gangster is something I only listened to once but thinking about re listening
I think Kanye pushed the social side of the album way more than Jay. Although Jay did good, as a whole Kanye's content and subject matter was much more diverse.
Just to help out people who are new to DEHH; Myke isn't actually gay. I shouldn't even have to say this, he sounded so sarcastic when he said it :/
