Steve here about 28 years old.... No wonder he became one of the most influential and successful persons in the history of technology. This speech is just simply great. In my world he was a true genius. I am certain that you look down at us from your heaven today and smile to yourself - what on earth is going on! Thanks for everything and rest in peace.
This guy is like a cure for me. Many people say he was was not that great Even I at one point was cynical about him But the more I read and understand about the world today and the man he was I like this man more and more
I think to be ahead of the times requires one to be controversial and counter culture. If everything he said or done didn’t not disrupt expectations, then he would just be like everyone else. I’m not making a judgement on what he said and did was right or wrong, but clearly he thought about a lot of things differently than most people, and you need that to change the world.
INCREDIBLE Just INCREDIBLE Mr. Jobs was a PURE VISIONARY Thank You For Posting This Video I wish I could Thank Steve Jobs .... for what he has Done for Mankind
Among many things in this video, I appreciate (and truly miss) Steve's honesty and straightforwardness. He says what he thinks, does it clearly, with just enough passion, and no bullshit and fluff. Straight to the point, but in a fascinating way.
The best way to explain it because I don’t give af and would never watch anybody give a hour long speech but I got this recommended to me and accidentally watched the whole thing. Now, I’m coming back to it so I can listen to him again. It’s crazy 😂
Still watching this in 2024 gives me a fresh talk vibe. Steve jobs was way ahead of his time, and I'm sure when he said about his ideas to his engineering team there would have been a lot of opposition and problems, still he managed to do it. What a great man!
50 years. The next phase of commercialized AI is personal assistants.. or think a lifetime companion AI. It will know everything about you. He talks about someone writing everything down or logging their life, then having a way to ask what they would think/do. There will be a time when an AI will have all your memories and have amazing insights, and with high accuracy be able to predict what would be your actual response.
David thank you for sharing with this Steve’s video. This is the greatest talk I ever heard from Steve Jobs. He is a truly amazing visionary genius who oversaw a lot of things even happening today. A profound talk about computer science and computer related industry. Hard to imagine he basically covered most important stuff in the next 40 years!
40 years ago when the computer industry was still in its childhood, he already correctly looked at the computer all the way from atoms and electrons to human computer interactivity and its transformative power over the world.
I attended that conference in 1989. Approx 10 am I was just outside the large tent. A young man walked up and asked me for the time. I replied " maybe 10:15". He said thanks and walked on. After that I realized who the man was. Steve was wearing torn jeans, flannel shirt and his hair was down to his shoulders. What? I was there that year because he'd just released the tiny SE. The Mac revolutionized graphic design and publishing. And now we're talking about wearables. He should have lived to see it.
I miss such compassionate talented speakers these days, they are so rare. Maybe because the others are all just repeating their words. But Steve Jobs was in every word original. - Badrae
He was awesome. He spoke with all passionate and focus. Sometimes he made everyone laughing but it didn't make sense to him. His vision was unprecedented. The U.S was lucky to have him. He was also lucky to be there. Both are always super 🎉. Thanks bro for uploading this video 😊
OMG he's talking about google street view map and simulation games like farmville back then.....???? This is so unbelievably incredible how old this technology is...these people literally are the creators of the modern digital age...and we can hear them and see them...we are so unbelievably lucky.
Almost all video genres you kids know now have been created in the 1980s. They look and sound nicer now, but the mechanics is the same. Only major contributions after 1980s were 3D Gaming in the 1990s and multiplayer incl. MMOs end of 1990s / Beginning 2000s. Maybe Battle Royal could be seen as the only contribution from the 2010s.
16:11 “in 15 years, it’s gonna be all over. This first phase of getting these tools out into society in large numbers.” Lo and behold, 15 years later, in May of 1998, Steve Jobs launched the iMac, one of the most successful consumer electronic lines in history.
When he talked about computers and the simple mechanisms behind them, I started thinking about physiology-how we are created and survive based on certain principles. These principles are still waiting for biologists to make breakthroughs, like cracking the 'code' of aging and cancer.
while Steve Jobs was making this speech, I was in the computer club of my junior high school, as a grade 8 student. I typed in the computer: tell me a story, and the computer responded with "Syntax Error". Not too many understood how a computer works.
In 1983 he was predicting what life would be like 30-40 years, and described it perfectly. Imagine what Steve would have devised by now had he not died so young in 2011 at the tender age of 56. His last creation was the tablet in 2010. What has Apple created since? The Watch? AVP? I would argue that the Mx-series ARM processors are their best product, but those processors were the direct result of Jobs buying Palo Alto Semiconductor (a RISC house) in 2008 for a mere $278M.
Like him or hate him, the people at Apple are musicians, and Jobs played the orchestra. Without his visionary traits, Apple would have just been another tech company.

He didn't live just to make money like some American corporations have done for so long. He envisioned the future and made that dream a reality. He didn't need a college degree because he was that talented; genius and vision cannot be taught but must be discovered. Even today, we can still learn so much from him and apply his ideas to advance cutting-edge technology.
