I used to be one of the biggest Big Sean haters out there but I actually thought that this album was pretty good. A lot of people say that he hasn't progressed, but I disagree. I thought that he BODIED "Detroit vs. Everybody" and "B-Boy". I know they're not on this album, but still, he impresses me with some of his verses (when he's not resorting to cornball lines, which he still does from time to time). Dark Sky Paradise definitely has some filler like most albums these days (unfortunately) but I thought that there were some legit beats and bars on there. I was surprised by this album and I like about half of it.
I used to be one of the biggest Big Sean haters as well. After listening to this, i have to say hes probably making terrible music on purpose

Big Sean has some pretty good punchlines. He is very overlooked when it comes to witty punchlines, even though most of it is usually corny. But he drops a good one here and there.

I enjoyed this album a lot, especially a lot more than that tragic album that was HOF. I respect all of your opinions though, this was a respectable review, I love Anthony but he lost points with me with his 4 mins of saying "no". So to hear you guys actually review it seriously makes me glad.

I've always like Big Sean, but I usually like his verses over his albums. From FF to DSP there's only a few songs from each I like, but when he's on songs like All of the Lights and I Don't Like, I like him more. He isn't a terrible rapper to me and I actually like his flow sometimes like on Detroit vs Everybody and Paradise (he went off on that track). Like I said, I'm not like an avid fan of his due to his bragging style and samey song content but I wouldn't say he's terrible at all. I can name far worse lol

I'm not a huge Sean fan either but Dark Sky Paradise was great. The rollout and the cover art were great plus I enjoyed every song but 2 songs. I give it 8/10. His best project since Finally Famous Vol 3!

I thought this project was dope. I think you guys aren't giving Sean more credit as a lyricist. Yes, he has tons of hit-or-miss lines (plus his voice doesn't make it any better) but he does has some dope lines. He was killin it on Paradise, Platinum and Wood (surprised yall didn't talk about any of the bonus tracks, those were really good), Dark Sky, All Your Fault (him trading bars with Ye were big highlights on the album), Deep, and Outro (in a quirky kind of way). I thought Win Some Lose Some and One Man Can Change the World were really heartfelt and Deserve It was a nice reintroduction to Sean (although didn't really like the 1st verse at all). I think with me, kinda like others with 2Chainz, he can be corny and such but it feels more endearing than anything else. I don't get the feel that he's cocky like Drake, radical like Kendrick, controversial like Ye, lyrical like Wale, personable like Cole, etc but he takes a little from them all and made it his own in a way. He's not unique but I don't think he's generic either; it just others in his lane are better than he is.
