    Prescise and thoroughly executed....even with the bloopers (of which I enjoyed immensely)! As a single gal that got rubed by the dealership (and continues to be) I am grateful to have come across this video and your station. I'm going to get 'er done right now- 4 years later, with zero help from SB Genesis, although promised and stated, "Included"(shame on me).

    I always liked the Vacuum Tube radio interface. I do find the graphical display of the climate vents very hard to see most of the time there isn't a lot of contrast between the flow indicator and the background. I have a 2020 Kona Ultimate.

    I don't know if it's available on the models with sd-card, but on my 2020 Hyundai Kona there is an option to apply the update with the car switched off. It's a lot easier as there's no need to sit in the car while it applies the update. You can also select a delay between the time the car is switched off and the time the update applies although the default is 0 minutes which is probably what most people would want. If you apply the update this way (and you have Bluelink) you get a notification on your mobile phone when the update has finished.

    • @EV-olution
      @EV-olution  2 года назад

      After using the updated version for a few days I found that I hate the new preset stations at the bottom of the screen because you can't scroll left, you can only use the next page button. So if you have 4 pages of presets, and you are on page 2 of those presets, if you want to get to a channel that is on page one you have to scroll through pages 3 and 4 before getting back to page 1. Pretty stupid.

      Thank you very much. The update via USB for 2020 and newer vehicles requires the USB key to be formatted in FAT32, but I don't see why you could not use an external hard drive as long as it is formatted as FAT32. The issue is that you would format an entire external hard drive and render it useless for anything else if you did that, until you formatted it again to use for other storage.

    Thanks Andre for sharing the process of getting the software update. Looks like they have now developed a PC software to get the latest updates. I did mine last year after downloading from their website. Will check to see if they have a new update for Niro-2020.
    Also, have you experienced any slowness issues with the new version? At times I see that it sort of freezes up/stuck at loading the interface after starting the car. Would take a minute or two to load the default apps like map/music player etc on home screen.
    Another thing related to UVO service. I know it’s free for 5 years, but do we know how much they are going to charge consumers after the free period is over? I wonder operating the maps without the UVO could be tricky as the other day looked like they had some maps outage and I was not able to navigate the addresses as it’s taking 4-5 minutes to just search the place, even when the offline mode should work flawlessly. Thanks!

    • @EV-olution
      @EV-olution  2 года назад +1

      They release software updates once or twice per year so I am sure you will have an update. They add new charging stations, points of interest, as well as bug fixes.
      I have not had any issues with mine, it has worked perfectly so far. Did you try resetting yours to factory default? You can do it in the setup settings.
      The UVO services are 5 years for the 2019 Niro EV, but only 3 years for newer models. I don't know what the cost will be after that though. I have never experienced any issues with the navigation, but I have only used it a handful of times because I use Android Auto all of the time.

    This may be a sill question, but can the update be done while the car is charging? I'm thinking I could set it up while I charge overnight. The downside is the car has to be on I guess. I'm just impatient and hate waiting for things to finish haha!

    • @EV-olution
      @EV-olution  2 года назад

      That is not a silly question, it's a good one. It would seem that if you already have the purple version of the software there is an option to have the update start after you power off the car. I would imagine that the 30 minutes required for the update are not going to cause an issue for the 12V battery, or maybe the car activates the inverter to keep the 12V charged. In any case, you would have to test to see if it works while you are charging the car. Alternatively you could do what I did with my wife's car; I started the update with the car fully on, then I got out and locked the door with the physical key and went inside for 30 minutes.

    Hi! Thanks for a great video. I was wondering if you have any information about how accurate the information is about battery state of health (SoH) that you can retrieve from your OBD-port. I personally own a 2020 Hyundai kona electric 64kwh and my data shows that SoH is 100%. I have driven about 10 000 km. Also I have seen youtube-videos of Hyundai Ioniqs that have 160 000km with 100% SoH. I feel it seems almost too good to be true. What are your thoughts? Kindest regards from Björn in Sweden.

    • @EV-olution
      @EV-olution  2 года назад +1

      Thank you very much. Regarding your question, you have to consider that the loss of capacity happens at the top part of the battery that you don't have access to. You know your battery as a 64kWh, but it is larger than that, you only get to use 64kWh of it. I have 58,000km driven and my Niro EV still shows 100% state of health, and I believe it, but know it relates to the useable 64kWh, not the actual full battery capacity.

      @@bjornohgren7066 the V2L feature of the EV6 and Ioniq 5 is based on the electronics of the car, not the wiring and the adapter, those are just part of the puzzle. Do these programs support Kia Cerato K3 and Hyundai MD cars?

    • @EV-olution

      You can find out by installing the software and looking up the model of your cars, it's free. Mine is set for North America where we don't have your models of vehicles.

To change the language you can click on the gear icon at the top right, the first line at the top has the country, the brand, then the language choice on the right. Choose the language that is appropriate for you.

      Maybe. If you download the software you can do a search for your year of vehicle. If your car has an SD card, or other type of card, when you open the software and connect the card to the computer, the software will tell you if there is an updated version for it.

    This was ever so interesting but how are older people who haven't had the benefit of growing up with computers meant to cope? I can just about work my smartphone, I'm using it now but I'm not completely competent. For example it's got a 125(?mg? gig? possibly) SD card in it but still keeps telling me "phone is full transfer data to SD card".... Absolutely no idea how to do it as it also says "files bigger than X amount cannot be transfered". Everything else is greyed out so what does that even mean? Having searched through settings, help etc. I'm none the wiser.
    Those warning cards that pop up are very intimidating if you think you're about to delete all your data or whatever and the language is incomprehensible!
    There's no way I could dare to attempt this in my car.
    I'm only in my sixties but of a more mechanical/artistic bent, or I was before being hampered by chronic illness. How are drivers with these sorts of impairments or lack of computer skills ever going to deal with things like this?!
    Thanks for the video, love the outtakes, they always cheer me up. 👍

      I understand what you mean because my wife is not technically inclined, she leaves the car, computer and cell phone tech stuff to me, as you may have seen when she was in one of my past videos. For people in your situation you can ask your local dealer to perform the update when you bring the car in for an inspection. They should not charge very much because the actual physical intervention is only about 15 minutes. In my opinion they should only charge 0.25 or 0.5 hours of labour. Thank you for taking the time to watch my video and I am glad my silly bloopers made you smile 😎

    Hi - thanks for making this video. Unfortunately, we need this much 'education' with Kia/Hyundai. We've had this 'radio' screen since the April '21 update I believe on our Seltos's in the U.S. I had the same problem with Valet - it didn't work, called, never heard, then about a month later it started working...good thing to do while it's at the dealer!
    Also, I didn't realize till just last month about the "List" (or "Channel List" on the 10.25" screen) button on the radio. I have some tips on using that screen re your presets (to see the whole Sirius channel 'name' like the old days) and how to use that screen to set up the ability to RECORD up to 10 stations beginning with when you start the car each time if interested:

      Actually you can see the Sirius channel name to the left of the channel "tubes" on the top portion of the screen. It is a pretty small logo to read, but it is there.

      @@EV-olution right, but as you displayed in your video, in the old radio main page setup you could see the Sirius channel numbers AND names on the left hand side. Now. At the bottom of the main radio screen all you see are numbers which really was disappointing. So at least the Channel List lets you see all of your preset full channel names without having to remember the numbers which at my age I cannot do. I'll just couldn't believe I had missed that Channel List page for the last year!
