How To: Update Display Audio (fix Bluelink) in Hyundai vehicles! | April 2023

- In this video, I show you how to update your Hyundai or Kia vehicle's display audio with the latest April 2023 update. This update should also restore select Hyundai vehicles with Bluelink as the 2G/3G sunset occurred at the start of 2023. Certain vehicles were still using the older 3G standard to access Bluelink but the hardware supports newer versions of wireless communication. Use the VIN tool to verify whether your vehicle needs updated for continued Bluelink use. You can find more information via the links below.

Good video! Explaining the bluelink thing, some of the vehicles had lte modems in them but they were using a technology called SVLTE (simultaneous voice and lte). GM with onstar was using the same technology. Basically, it made it to where voice traffic would go over 3g and data traffic would go over 4g. Obviously, this wouldn't work anymore with the 3g shutdowns so the good thing is that for these modems it's as simple as a firmware update to allow them to use VOLTE (voice over LTE).

Meanwhile I'm here with my 2015 Genesis that has a hardware 3g modem. Sigh.

How did you upload the update to the flash drive? I've been in contact with Bluelink services but they have been giving me the run around. 😒
Great info on updating the software. However, my info display does not fire up. Blank screen and nothing works. No radio, Nav, backup camera...nothing. Fuse is ok. Any recommendations on what may be the problem? Thanks
What a rip, cars are getting like cellphones...require you to update every few years to continue getting software updates...I feel like Hyundai needs to be able to replace the cellular hardware in older vehicles. I bought the car with a feature, shouldn't be allowed to discontinue it. I totally relied on the remote start Bluelink feature. 😠

Hey man thanks for an informative video! I have a 2020 Hyundai Kona SEL without Navigation. The weird thing is that for the display update Version 1 and 2, for the list of compatible vehicles, it does not list a 2020 Hyundai Kona, only 2018-19, and 2021-2022. I really want to update my system because it’s so outdated, but my car year model isn’t listed. What should I do about this, and should I try updating it anyway with a Kona update file and see what happens?🤷♂️
How do you know if you need to do the map/navigation update…or the Audio update?
Also, how do you know to check if it’s a GEN 2V or GEN one?
So were you able to program the bluelink? You cut out before you showed whether or not it worked…
I tried to do the update but my hyundai sonata 2016 sport via a usb but it is not happening i have a usa spec car and i live in middle east and also downloaded the middle east version maybe that is the issue any one can help please
hey bro I just have a little question I recently just checked the website for the update for my car it doesn't show my car it does show but it doesn't show the year of my car because my car is a 2021 and it only shows the update for 2019 to 20 vehicle does that mean that my card won't be needing the update
update is not an issue, Blulink Activation is the most of the people's problem after software updates
The older versions required an update to maintain connectivity due to the 2G/3G sunset.

Something fun is that my 2015 Hyundai hybrid limited is one of the ones that doesn’t work with the update. Doesn’t have Apple car play. The reason this is funny is because the trim is more expensive then the 2015 hyundai limited that includes the car play and the blue link update.

Thank you for the video!!! Having a problem with the POI/Carfinder/Dealer/gas stations locater in my phone's bluelink app. Its not displaying the background map in the phone app. It finds the points etc, just doesnt display the map background, only the "location dots" on a blank grey background. Started last month. Reported it to them. 2 weeks later, and no fix, now they are telling me to update the Car Display Audio software V1 (i have a 2018 Sonata limited, No Nav, with the original 2018 software / firmware, No update needed for my modem). Makes no sense, since the app doesnt need to talk to the car to find my dealer or a local gas station. I am so hesitant to update the car, because the car's Audio unit isn't broken, and the in-car features work.. New software often makes things worse, or removes features (they dont tell you about removals / changes in advance, so you can decide if you want to update). Something usually breaks every time i update the phone app. Horrible software Qual. Assur. Again, thanks for posting the video... giving me more confidence to do the D.A. update.

I downloaded the files onto a drive via their navigation updater tool. But when I plug the USB into the console I get a message that I need a USB with the update files. All the files are on the drive, so I don’t know what it wants from me. If there is a specific folder I need to pull out the directions on the website do not tell me this 😭

@@natopoppins yeah I definitely hear that. I’m only trying to do it to see if it will get my back up cam going again it just kind of all of a sudden stopped working a few days ago and the screen just goes black when I put it in reverse so I was looking for a Hail Mary.
@@letiziapassanisi9967ahh yea that may fix it based on a firmware update. Have you taken it in to see if maybe it’s something else? I opted not to do it just because of them monitoring drivers. But I have noticed with the most recent update to google maps for CarPlay there are a lot of cool features added so it’s good enough for me. Still wish I could turn my car on and ac/heater from a distance but oh well lol
Do we keep the USB plug in or cane we take it out after updating?
I just got a 2022 Elantra Sel & when I put in my vin in your link provided, says im good. My question is there any reason or updated visuals/function that I may want to take advantage of update?
It is really up to you if you feel something isn't working correctly. If it is, it may not be worth updating at the moment.

I just want my car to STOP trying I connect, I never subscribed , and now my screen stays frozen and I can't even get my CD player I work, or connect to Bluetooth.I have a 2014 Santa Fe Sport. No apps, just standard gps, media, satellite available.
All that for the same screen wow
This is interesting but my car the blue link doesn't load so I don't know how I would engage the download without access to the screen itself. hmm
There is no download from the car itself. It's done on the computer with a USB and installed onto the vehicle.
@@CarsMadeSimple I understand that. What i am saying is that on your video you have access to the screen and functions. In my car I do not. Blue Link Loading......... is on my screen. I cannot access any functions because of that.

I cant get my 2018 santa fe to update after i downloaded the latest update from the website. everytime i put the usb in my car it says no readable media files. any recommendations?

@@rayakamoore9694 I finally got the files to update. I had to use a different USB drive. That one only let me format it as ExFAT, not FAT32, but it worked. But, the update didn't fix my BlueLink issues. I still have a support ticket in with them.
We ever figure this out?
Don't work on a Kona 2021, When trying to put it on a USB ask for a password. They must have started locking software. We called and they said it might be because we are using Windows, SO we tried Mac and Linux with the same outcome. SO, they get you to buy the usb for $25 dollars and charge a $17 postage to send it. What a rip off. Once you order it, they send it with Fedex slow service and then give it to the post office. They are full of it. If it wasn't for my wife I could care less about the service.
Yeah it all sounds good but why pay for something that doesn’t work.
I did the whole process, have the new update, but still cannot entroll in Bluelink and it still says it requires an update on the vin checker
Hmmm. I wonder if some vehicles don't allow reactivation. Have you tried reaching out to Bluelink?
