Kia should pass out forms at dealerships to cover an alarm system at their expense.

Sad when I had a 15 yo car with aftermarket fob and alarm immobilizer that was more security than these newer Kia models. Crazy

How much is it costing you and what damages did you have?
My 2021 Kia Forte was stolen last week. Yesterday I found it when they wrecked it twice and abandoned it. I'm heartbroken that Kia hasn't recalled these cars to fix the problem. The only recall is to tighten a bolt to prevent losing steering control.
How do you know it was wrecked twice, or are you talking about two separate incidents?

I totally agree! The kia boys tried to steal mine but didn't succeed. So now my Kia is at the dealership waiting to get repaired. I live in high point nc at the oaks of Silver Ridge Apts and management stated to me... " it must be someone u know who would this. Why didn't they tamper with any other vehicles in this parking lot? " Then she brushed me off and walked away, and I have work to do! I am so angry! I have to come out pocket for $500 deductible 😤
Someone tried to steal my sonata a couple of days ago. Busted my window but took off when a neighbor came out. My alarm apparently went off when the window was broken, but stopped after one cycle. I got an Apple AirTag when the Kia boys started stealing these cars last year but that doesn’t mean I would have found my car the way they took it had it been stolen. Investing in a steering wheel lock at least until I’m able to get a better security system.

While my 2020 KIA Optima is fun to drive and has nice safety features, I would NEVER/EVER buy another KIA because of the stress the company has brought to my life through their careless design, not to mention the sky-high insurance premiums I'm having to pay ($164/mo.; and I'm older with a great driving record). I will never be able to sell the car, and besides, I simply couldn't hurt someone else like I've been hurt. So, I've decided to have a top-of-the line alarm system installed -- one that detects even the tiniest "test" vibration against the glass and on ALL the windows -- and have it tied to some kind of (hopefully remote-operated) kill switch. A much bigger and brighter flashing light on the dash will hopefully tell thieves I've installed a better alarm system. I considered a LoJack, which has a 98% theft recovery success rate, but decided against that over the alarm upgrade because you want to reduce the chance of your car being stolen in the first place. Plus, who knows if police departments where I happen to be, which are usually understaffed, will have someone available to find and retrieve my car if ever stolen. I may also have a body shop remove the name KIA from the car; another big expense. After that, there is not much left to do but let it go and not leave the car someplace dark and dreary! At some point, you have to get on with your life! If you can afford it, donate the car (with detailed instructions) to someone young, responsible, and in desperate need of a car and buy different car -- AND NOT A KIA!!!

Make sure the actually buy the Club branded steering wheel lock. My wife had one that was given to us by our local PD. Her car was broken into and they ripped the steering wheel lock off and stole the car. They are also getting passed the software update.

I'm sorry but we don't have a location in San Antonio. I'm sure there is a shop there that can help install a security system update though. Just tell them you want a electronic immobilizer/starter interrupt. Remote starts typically have this feature too, so upgrading to a remote start is an option.
I'm investing in a tracker for my hyundai after mine was recovered. Can't afford an anti theft kit, so I'll have to settle for a steering wheel lock
Get one with a manual transmission. That kept mine from getting stolen in an attempted thrft.

We use the Prestige alarm system in our shop, but you purchase a Compustar alarm easily as well. Just make sure it's compatible with you model.

It looks like once the column cover is removed, they are able to separate the lock cylinder from the ignition switch. At this point, they can use a USB connector or any "rectangular" shape device to start the vehicle.
i bought a kia sportage from a used car dealership that was stolen (*the title got cleaned & the original owner got a new car*). i thought it was a rare occurrence & didn’t know that it was so easy. i regret buying. i thought it was a great deal because the car was very new, except that they key hole was broke but it was an easy inexpensive fix. 😅😅

My 2023 Kia broken into. They couldn't steal it but it's 6-8 weeks to fix it. I've had the car less than 2 weeks.

I have a question…… my Kia was stolen 4 months ago and the thieves busted out the back window, the alarm didn’t go off to my car to get in and of course steal my car… I just got the new anti theft system update immobilizer for my car and was wondering if they end up doing that again breaking out the back window, alarm not goin off, would they still be able to steal my car even with the immobilizer in it???? The anti theft also doesn’t let the car start though if they used the drivers side or passenger door to get in cuz the alarm goes off but doesn’t go off when busting out the back window
the immobilizer won't let them drive off with it unless they have the actual key.

That's what kept my 2014 Kia Forte from getting stolen 2 months ago. That Kia Boy didn't know how to drive a stick shift but now I have to use a stubby screwdriver to start the car, making me feel like I'm a car thief.
Well, Hyundai said, to a family member they'd install a new feature to avoid thefts free of charge, but will it be worth it to get done through the dealership, or straight to a VIP alarm system shop, extra sensitive anyone who steps near it goes off ? My family member is absolutely mad, as Toyotas are taking extra security measures, for regular keys like the good old days. I've heard, some of these vehicles will not even be insured, they need a 5 digit code or something, how embarrassing to have a steering wheel lock, and would if, these domestic terrorists come after you, for your car as you're trying to unluck the sterling wheel column shaking and trying to unlock the damn thing ? Guess folks need tinted windows, with mannequin's dressed up, as folks waiting in the vehicle.

I live in Detroit, Michigan they almost got mine but done some damage.I want to know if you can file a lawsuit against the manufacturer/TikTok for this mess that it's causing 🤬 UPDATE I was given a steering wheel lock a little to late I mentioned to them that my car was almost stolen she told me they have a current lawsuit as to where any damages to your vehicle will be reimbursed with proof so make sure you get your police report and your bill of repairs that was done on your car and file a claim 🙄

My Kia they tried steal breaking passenger window had the alarm on they took my steering wheel cover of the ignition,signal lever and wiper handle hanging. The ignition and both levers I put together myself. They literally shattered the widow. Still mad as heck.

Since mine has been stolen, it's hard to get the freaking parts. No auto place in walking distances has the parts because those freaking Japan made the vehicle in that country to only make it hard for the US
to get these parts at a reasonable price. I need a damn axle, control arm, tie rods, and the key ignition is busted and then the stupid cops tow it and didn't inspect it - like they said they would, then I had to wait to get it out and those freaking tow people blew the tires out and my hub caps are fuk up. (Innocent people like myself are victims of these fools who won't get a job and steal and rob from people who tried to live right.) Unbelievable.

Unfortunately, the old saying that goes, "you get what you pay for" applies exclusively to kias. These cheap crappy cars need to go back to where they came from. Also, It's guaranteed that the car insurance on these "crappy metal rollers" are extremely expensive. Just quote one before you buy and you will see. So, if you want to stop the frustrations and stressing out, then please, DO NOT buy a kia.
That depends on where you live. I drive a Kia and the insurance premium is lower than that from a Honda Accord.
Better solution for Kia Boys to ward these troubled kids off - show them the 2nd ammendment.

My mom's Kia was just broken into and attempted to be stolen last night. At this point, Kia should be held liable. The cop told me to do whatever I could to get a different car, but she literally bought it like 5 months ago and it has less than 10k miles on it.
