The little animations for the words and composition of the video is looking amazing! Damn Simon and Martina stepping up their high quality game xD
Thank you! But I'm also furious because one of my animations didn't render properly on the export and it made some words miss the letter "r". AGHHHHHHHGGHHGHG!!!!!!
I was so waiting for this to be like the old how to Korean like a pro videos 😂😂😂
Alas, time has passed and we’ve all grown up, now you only make beautiful, hella well informed and aesthetically pleasing videos.... if it wasn’t so wonderful i would be sad.

Simon and Martina ok

SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS!
my mom and dad like to watch your youtube channel I do to
Love these super informative, breaking it down sort of videos. When buying sake before, I just went by whatever the wine/alcohol store described the flavors as, but now I know how to read the label, so thank you for that. 😄 Definitely trying out that Daiginjo sake next time I get a chance.
The president of the sake company was just the cutest at the end!
He was actually really funny. He was serious on camera but he was a total jokester in real life! He liked puns. :)
Simon and Martina Da best! That makes me so happy to know! jajajaja
Thank you for always making amazing video!!! I’m 16years old and now live in Nova Scotia, Canada for study abroad. I’m so respect you guys because, both of you are enjoying everything in different countries!!! I want to be more positive like you!!!!!🌞Thank you!!!!!!🇯🇵🇨🇦
I have been living in Japan for almost all my life, but since I don't drink ANY alcohol beverages, I had absolutely no knowledge of sake. I learned a lot from this video. Thank you !!
You guys are the one of the only things that actually give me happiness these days. Have been following you guys since 2012 and I can really say that all of your content till now has amazing. :) Take care of yourselves.
I haven't been to Japan, but my best friend has. She brought back dango and three types of sake - pretty much one of my favourite memories is her sharing this from her trip with me while we caught up in our pyjamas.
5 years later, you still fw sake? i want to try it
Sake has been slowly trending in popularity for over a decade in the states. Thanks for the fantastic video.
Martinas laugh at the end gives me life.
I don't even drink as a rule and thought this was super interesting. And I agree, you guys may wanna make "How to... in Japan" a series! :D
got the notification and got right on it. man, this is the content i signed up for.
I hope you like our video!
Thank you guys for explanation for Sake, because it's very difficult to teaching Sake to foreigner. I will try to enjoy Sake with my friend next time and I will teach them.
You know saimon, your face are changing to red to much drinking Sake, because you never stop drinking. Please enjoy, ha-ha. I like you Martina.
I've been inspired to go sake shopping for a new adventure thanks guise
Simon picks you up so much to show you he can now! It's his way of showing off his manliness, DOTHRAKI MAN STYLE!!!!
Also, NOTIFICATION SQUAD! Have you ever had sake before? If so, what did you think?
Simon and Martina I have never tried it before and I SO WANT TO!!!!!!
Yep! It was INTENSE. But I liked it!
Can't have it cause meds. Wish I could..
Neverrrrrrr 😂😂
Not yet! But i would really love to
I don’t drink at all but of course I’m watching because I’d never miss a Simon and Martina video!!!
Another amazing spot that is going to be added to my travel plans! Such a great video! Hope to see more like these!
Oh wow, so glad I clicked this video. I love Sake but, was not as educated till this video. Simon and Martina, you two look like a fun loving couple. The humor just flowed so natural!
Deam .. Early here 5 views in. Love you Simon and Martina keep it up with the quality vids ❤
That's pretty darn early!
The editing on this is so bomb! As some one who's had a lot of sake I love that I learned a shit ton of different facts about sake :3

I love how simon just picks you up all the time, so cute
Hey here's some more Saké tips:
my recent discovery in the production of Saké, and indeed Nihonshu (Unpolished, non-distilled, CLEAR rice wine... the clarity is what they measure to grade it in Japan, but distillation is non-traditional)
is if it is fermented in cold temperatures like room temperature or below you get an incredibly strong Umami flavor which tastes like cheese or vodka, kind of has a really Astringent quality that clings to your tongue kind of like a film of rice cake... taste kind of like vodka but sweeter, and, more cheesy, mushroomy...thats fermented at a cooler temperature.
if you fermented at like around or slightly above 70° F the yeast makes it like a green apple or citrusy kind of flavor, with less Umami, and this is because yeast, at different temperatures, metabolizes things differently.
at a lower temperature it produces more ethanol in Aerobic conditions, whereas at a higher temperature it's metabolism can produce things like acetyl-aldehyde which is a green apple flavored ester of alcohol....very sour
I've also found some Rice that grows native in the Midwest. But I use the cheap, store bought rice, and wild, homemade Koji.... if it works with mehh rice, then it will definitely work with better rice. I don't polish because the yeast and Koji combined basically dissolve the rice into a Goo... it kinda reminds me of Sumerian Meade, where you have rye grain and sourdough, instead of rice and Koji, which is basically all the same
Even though it’s a Sunday and we’re all nursing heavy hangovers, we all still watch in awe ❤️🇯🇵✌🏼😷! Great video guys, I learned about Sake!
Wow I learned so much today:) I've tried sake when I was in Japan and it was really nice and light. Martina you look great, keep it up, you too Simon you're looking buff:) Have a great day guys.
Your videos always make me happy !!!! Even if I’m having a bad day ,I know I can watch your videos and feel happy again about life !!! Thank you for that !
I can't relate to the sake but when u started talking about ice cream it made me hungry 😂😂
This is such a great video! I love how much information you were able to put out without sounding dry or boring. Thanks for making this!
My partner would love this, he loves sake but it's just super expensive in Australia. Next time we are in Japan we will head to this brewery ❤️
Just a random thought:
Seeing your videos pop up makes me feel happy to be alive. I watch all of your videos and listen to your podcast on sbs popasia and just think, what incredible human beings. I could not think of two people more perfect for each other. I tune in to everything you have to say because it gives me hope that someday I’ll find the spirit and joy you both bring to each other. I know it’s a simple thing, but in these days, and especially this world, I’m starting to think it’s not so simple. However, you give me such hope for a mere 15 minutes of my day and inspire me to do great things. I just came back from a two week high school exchange in Japan, and I would say it’s all thanks to you. I’ve gained confidence from you and I’m very thankful. At the beginning of this year, I was struggling. Almost ending my own life, I thought there was no way up. But you two helped me!
With no teachers or friends, I ventured off on my own to discover a new life which I didn’t realise I needed so bad. I hope to one day live in Japan and enjoy every single day! Thank you for everything! #Buildaladder
+Jessica Huggins thank you for such a beautiful comment! I'm so so so proud to have helped inspire you to start such an incredible journey of your two week exchange in Japan. Hope to meet you one day in Japan! *Big hug from Martina*
THEY INTERVIEWED THE PRESIDENT OF THIS SAKE BREWERY THE HECK YEAH
Woah...This video taught me so much! Thank you so very much for sharing this video. Not even a minute in, I hit the Subscribe button, and turned on notifications 😂 You guys are great. 👌🏻
Thank you for subscribing! Not all of our videos are super informational. A lot of them are personal, but I hope we can keep you around with what we have planned in the future :D
Anyone else had a long night full of liquor and had to hide this in their subscriptions because you can’t even look at alcohol right now? Cuz I did.
Gurl. D:
k
i did the same but mine was last weekend lmao
great video guys!! i always enjoy your content. My own story was i was trying to buy Sake in Japan on my first trip, but had to send photos of the bottles to my japanese friend back in Australia to make sure i wasn't buying vinegar or something not sake
OMG There's a place in Osaka where I learned about all this last spring! It was such an amazing tasting experience! The sake cost like 200¥ a cup (a bit bigger than the ones I see on your video). Some of the sakes needed to be drunk in a special terracotta cup, which magically changes the texture in the mouth. It was sooo sublime to compare all of them together (12 to be exact XD)
The chocolate ice cream and Rocky road analogy was good. It's nice to see passion put into understanding Sake.
BLABLABLABLA Daiginjo. Got it
I have to learn about all the nuances of Sake in terms of the way it’s made and what the differences mean to it’s taste for a server job I’m taking on. This video has been the most informative. I thank you guys.
I've been scared about sake because of a burning taste. Good to see a video like this because now I can try the sweeter one.
Also curious. Do you like soju or sake more? Or is there not much of a comparison?
If you don't like burning, don't drink soju! I can tell you that I've never met a single person that enjoys the taste of soju. HAHA! It's more like a drinking event that you do and laugh and cringe on the way down. I have many warm memories of drinking soju with grilled meat and playing games, but it isn't delicious. We also tried to do a tour or interview with ANY SOJU FACTORY but they refused. No one even knows what soju is actually made of because they aren't open about it like for example a winery or sake brewery. So sake all the way!
Simon and Martina thank you for replying! Next time I go to the Japanese steakhouse and don't have to work in the morning I will ask them if they have different sakes♡♡
I'm really happy that you guys don't use fancy word to describe stuff because other I'd be lost 😶... you make things relatable and that's what I really appreciate. Thanks for all your hard work. 👍
That's something we try to do as best as we can. We really try to not sound pretentious or condescending, and try to make ideas understandable and relatable. Thank you!
I don't drink but this was still enjoyable. :)
I love you guys so much and I’m happy to get to watch your videos before a 12 hour work shift ❤️❤️
The sake i usually get is a Fuji apple flavour one it's $10 and taste great
Mad Mod The Lychee flavour is also yummy.
I love these type of videos a lot. The way how you two present a toppic is just great !
& Martina your Hairbun looks so cute 😯💕
very informative and interesting ! thanks for this video :) Marina you look so pretty !
Thank you so much for this video! I loved it. It's my birthday today, and my partner bought me daiginjo sake. I tasted it and it tastes like heaven! Thank you again!
Agree with Martina. Superkid is awesome. Whatever that yellow flavour is? Yes please.
Agreed!! Superkid was my childhood, and I won't let Simon take it away from me!!
Its Banana. 😊
What’s superkid?
Just moved to Japan (Okinawa) 3 weeks ago. This is the 1st video of you I have watched and I can see the rabbit hole I’m about to dive into and I’m greased up (??) and ready to go. Currently sippin on saki in a box (don’t judge) and I’ll be trying all the goodness (besides that vintage bottle) you broke down shortly. Hat tip to you both!! Subscribed, liked and hit the bell notification thingy. Cheers!!
I like your ads because they are actually entertaining unlike fucking best fiends
We don't ever agree to do product placements or ads in our videos unless we think it'll be something that our viewers will like. We've been offered lots of money from companies we've said no to because I don't want to make shitty content :D
Sake is my favorite!!!! I would be in heaven
I am not much of a drinker but Sake is my go to..this place look so amazing and thank you for sharing and can't wait to use some of the info and look fancy when I go out and order some 😂😂
Love it!! Going for the daiginjo on my next outing.
Let me know how it tastes!
Simon and Martina I definitely will. I love sake so I was excited to see this video.
Justin Diaz Yo-it is the BOMB! I like it more than good white wine
7-Month recap. Have had a few different types of Daiginjo on several different occasions at this point and wow.... just... wow. SO GOOD!!!! I had to watch this video a second time. Watching Simon pour the Daiginjo made me think about me pouring the Daiginjo for the first time and what it was like for me to get that flavor and experience.
Nailed it ! I really enjoyed the precise descriptions you make of the tastings - greatly enhanced by excellent SAKE - thanks for sharing : ) Love from London, UK
Simon has NO chill! That'll be the last time they get invited to taste Sake 😂
Whenever I watch one of Simon and Martina’s video, It feels like home 💚. I love you guys so much !!!
Philippine notif squad!!!!!!whooot whooot
BEST SQUAD!
I want the little cups!!!! Great vid! I think the world of sake is something to be explored. There’s so much to experience and learn.
If you want to know about sake, you should ask Zoro but right now he is in Grand line.
😍 My heart swooned when Simon carried Martina away. #goals
Alcohol is not in my diet but it's really fun to just pseudo-experiencing it through your video. Lol.
Wow it was such an informative and entertaining video about Sake, learned a lot plus it was funny, can't go better than that :D I loved also the interview part, could listen for hours (well, of course with subtitles haha) would love to see more like that. A great way to show us Sake thank you for sharing ^^
Next; barhopping to Craft beer Japan. They have many craft beer places
Oh yes. And they're really good too!
great video guys!!! Love learning new things in Japan. Can't wait to go someday
Who else came here after watching John’s only in Japan new video ?
I would absolutely love to travel here, what a lovely little man. So passionate about sake, I would recommend going here to anyone. I need to try the sake he makes!!
Look into BPC-157, a synthetic gastric peptide often used to heal tendon injuries, that has many people with connective tissue disorders such as EDS swear by, saying it's the only thing that has allowed them to live a normal life.
Just got back to Denmark from a 11 day gourmet trip to Japan. Quite amazing . Thanks for the inspiration. love Torsten
Was it nerve racking talking with Mr.Shinjo I would have been terrified speaking with such a master of sake
Not at all! He had a great attitude :D
i love when experts talk, gimme that knowledge!!
Japanese whiskey's next, right? Nudge nudge. Wink wink ;D
You know, I'm not a huge fan yet. Haven't found any that suits my tastes. But once I do find one I'll share it :D
Yey!!! Good Morning from Florida !!! Glad to see you guys again😊
What is your usual choice of alcoholic beverage?
We most often drink Bourbon. That's our favourite, both of us :D
Bulleit? :D
Tequila stella rosa or sake (i suck at drinking)
Hi my son and I left Tokyo on October 11 , just got out in time! We toured China Seoul, Busan, Osaka, Kyoto and Tokyo in one month. We took public transportation and walked everywhere. In 2 weeks we had walked 134.5 km. Watched your ytube channel before going. By the way, we are from Brampton Ontario. Keep up your good work. Cheers, Christine!
Woohoo! I used to spend a lot of time in Brampton. My brother lived on Hurontario and Steeles I think (it was a couple decades ago so I don’t remember)
@@eatyourkimchi I know the area well
I live near Heart Lake conservation area
Nice to hear from you both
In many blind wine taste tests, neither experts nor common people could distinguish between cheap and expensive bottles. Do you think your comments will stay the same if those sake prices weren't given to you before tasting them?
There is a clear clear clear lack of burning when you try a very polished sake. It really is much smoother. It's like the difference between drinking cheap tequila and high end tequila. When it comes to the in-between sakes, I think price isn't as important since it depends on what flavours you prefer. But I will say sake experts agree Daiginjo isn't expensive because it is labelled as "better", it is expensive because they have to use more rice. I've read that some sake lovers don't love Daiginjo because they find it TOO smooth. So interesting right!
Woke up and saw a notification! Yay~!!! 😊 I like this style of video since it's soo informative!
LMAO Martina's earrings...
maya prakash. Right?? #goals
I came looking through the comments to see if I was the only one who noticed. Lol
I enjoy these more informative videos you make! You have like an perfect balance between facts and humour :)
That's a wonderful compliment. Thank you very much!
I see you Martina with those sumo earrings
I literally paused in the middle of the video and drove 20 min to a whole food at 9.30pm to get try my first sake in my life. Good learning and will try to taste more in the future.
I just brought sake from ur local grocery store after binge watching dramas 😍 cheers 🥂 thanx for the video. PS I'm officially in love with sake!
I love these. They always make my day better.
This is super helpful!! I love saki but had no idea all the complexities involved!! Now I know what to look for!!
It is a good day when Simon and Martina upload a video :)
Ive binge watched you all day its currently 4am and I have my HSCs (Australian version of SATs) tommorow! Please make more videos about/in Osaka!
Aaaah interesting and also funny! Haha the president was adorable - that end bit about tasting wine and saying it's like sake. I've never tried sake before so now I'm all knowledged up for if I ever do! Cheers!
Thank you Simon n Martina, for doing this sake video......I really like sake but I didn't know there's a lot of flavors of sake...I live in Japan for a year n half, n I love sake..I didn't know there's a sake which are dark colored, that's a new to me...thank u once again.. stay strong Martina.
I love sake, but I am always apprehensive to purchase any in a liquor store because I have no idea what to look for. Thanks for the awesome information. I feel more confident now that I can pick up something I will like.
Thanks I learned so much I feel like an expert now lol. The owner is so cute and very kind. And the end is hilarious.
This was so interesting! Great video from my favorite RUclipsrs!
I noticed Martina's earrings halfway in and literally LOLed 😂😂👍🏻
Loved this editing style! Always enjoy your videos but this was extra informatively good. I am thinking about coming to Japan to study for a year so all information is good.
I can't believe i made it to a video so early! I love you guys. Thank you for always teaching us new things, and letting us be apart of your world. ^-^
I don’t drink alcohol but I like you guys cos you make me smile so I’m here...
