- Beau Timken of True Sake is proud to be called a sake samurai. His fanaticism comes across in his enthusiasm for junmai, daiginjo, and ginjo, and he rails against those who encourage libation without education. Take the hint: learn from Beau.

Didn't think food could draw such enthusiasm? Well, we've got plenty more passionate people on the Obsessives show page: www.youtube.com...

I love this man's passion. The way he speaks it's like he can't get the words out fast enough because he's so in to sake. He must be a wonderful conversation partner.
He is a Master Sommelier, to begin with..
This endures as one of the classiest videos I've ever watched. Great series as well. You catch the essence of each of the obsessions.
I like his energy.
This guy is awesome. Love his passion. I'm getting into sake recently, wish I could go to his shop and try some. I'm having trouble finding sake reviews.
These Obsessives videos are by far the best things I've seen on CHOW. They're basically why I subscribed at all.
A really like how knowledgeable he is on the subject without being snobby. He really makes me want to try some saké!
This guy's expertise and enthusiasm is insane!
this guy is the realest in the game
This guy should make a sake channel
I don't like sake that much, but man, these bottles are beautiful. Shows that something as simple as a bottle can be art too.
I just bought two small bottles of sake from my local SAQ (it's a Quebec gouverment owned alcohol shop... Which is the only thing there is here): SHO-UNE Junmai Dai Ginjō. (Premium Sake), MASUMI SAKE okuden kanzukuri .
Didn't know William Dafoe was such a sake enthusiast
I get more of a Nicholas Cage vibe out of him...
a lot of these obsessives seem like they are on the verge of being furious at people, this guy is no exception.
Hilarious!!!
Yeah, I agree with you. If you get a good bottle I enjoy drinking Shochu on the rocks cut with a splash of water, and I do so quite often.
This guy is my hero
I love saké and now I will know whats in and on the bottle when I get one at the chinees restaurant.
This guy can sake my cake
it depends on which grade of sake you are talking about. gekkeikan makes several grades of their sake, so... if you like it, then it is good
Very interesting!
I've never liked sake (alltough only had a fiew tastes from cheap sushi restaurants) but this guy still manages to make it sound delicious!
Awesome.
Never knew that Nigori is considered one of the easiest Sakes to make-still my favorite, and I drank ALOT of Sake in Japan while stationed there:) The Japanese boilermaker is a a small "jar" of packaged Sake with a good Japanese beer chaser. Mmmmmmmmmmm!!! Good times in Yokosuka!-John in Texas
Fo Fuk's Sake is my favorite.
A profitable level. ...best kind of level.
We are a Japanese sake online shop. Thank you!
this guy is so cool!!!
That was beautiful. It's great to love something.
i think that its natural for peoples passions to come across as anger, but I get what you mean
it's called passion.
Great video.
I too don't understand his hatred towards distilled beverages. He's openly admitted there are crap sakes, as there are premium sakes. The same applies to distilled drinks. You can get just as much 'nuance' or detail in a vodka or soju as you can in a sake. I think he's just a purist, perhaps elitist.
@EmNem69 thats great. keep doing your wonderful work
This guy is my hero. He's a typical american guy that appreciates a beverage that I hardly can find anyone who likes. Sake to me is an acquired taste, I like it, but I have to sip it extremely slow. and on top of that, I really can't stand very dry sake. It just taste kinda like vodka mixed with water to me. Then again I've never had what many would consider "premium" sake either!
i cant help but imagine this guy at an AA meeting
We use the ます at my house as guitar pick containers.
O-H-I-O! Hell yeah!
its funny that you know so much about sake and dont know that mayo is everywhere in Japan... yup even on sushi
great vid
@valdezmiguel2 I'm guessing your presumption is based on personal experience of sake appreciation? ;)
Sake is the comfort food of the alcohols. ;) It's like sitting in front of a warm fireplace on a freezing night, drinking cocoa while being hugged as you pull warm socks on your cold feet. But it's better than that.
22helpless Gayness much
"i was dumbfounded, i was confused, i was startled..."
...um, i think thats called being drunk :D
good video! But I disagree that (good) shochu is the devil or needs to be part of a mixed drink
Subscribed.
lol. this guy is hilarious
I fucking love this guy! I have to get involved!
This guy is a snob but he knows his shit. That's dope!
@StopFlaggingVideos Yes, I do.
This guy makes me want to drink some sake.
@EmNem69 why, what do you do? im sure i'd be able to show you how not-different it is compared to wine
i didnt think anybody thought like this. what about guys who run chocolate factories? professional food critics? etc?
@EmNem69 i dont understand how he's weird for dedicating his life to sake...
i mean, do you think the same of guys who make wine?
@StopFlaggingVideos Sir, i am a fire hydrant, and i take great pride in what i do.
Irony is that both wine are probably more popular in Japan then it is sake, sad really. I've been trying to get into sake myself but from what I've learn you need a good example to get you started, and have been looking at even where to begin.
I love japan and their booz. :)
i feel even more confused about sake now...
Just sell more sake, friend!
Guys its not like this is all they talk about. They are being interviewed about what they think about something. If you were interviewed about your personal beliefs that you stand by you would sound the same way.
I hope his Japanese pronunciation has improved in all these years.
Soju IS not the devil. It is a great drink. Sure its not like Sake, but not a lot of things are.
I would Gladly drink Soju over Vodka any day.
@kiwin111 hes from ohio, what do you expect?
The thing is, his preference in sake is objectively superior to probably 99.5%+ of his fellow country people, and 99%+ of the worlds population. He was literally honored with a special title from the brewers union which cements this fact. Beyond that, you people who think he came off as a prick must be very fragile people. He wasn't even really 'revealing his true power level'. Imagine how opinionated he might get about your average package stores selection of sake.
Yo man, why are you talking crap about shouchu? It's the same about wine vs cognac:
a wine goes bad after it has been opened long enough (post breathing and peaked);
but a good cognac/whiskey/scotch/shouchu/chinese white rice wine, means that you can keep that same flavor for a very long time even after opening, sometimes up to 10 years!
Hmm
im 15 -.- I WANNA TRY SOME >:U i only tried wine and champagne but...only a lil cuz it was new years >:u but i want SAKE!
I was following him till he started drinking
WEEE A BOOOO!
WEEEEE A BOOOOOO!
yay ohio!
This is nick cage
good overall, best info on sake i've been able to pay attention to. however their regard for shochu is unwarranted. why can't it be a sipping spirit? Taking his example of tequila, there are plenty of examples of quality sipping tequilas with pedigrees similar to sake producers, and don't be caught with your word as a liquor professional declaring all spirits to be mere mixers when the whiskey community come around to trying and buy sake.
Go Ohio! Haha.
@valdezmiguel2 lmaoooo i love trolling this guy
I don't like wine, I'm hoping I like sake when I do get to try it.
How is he a weeaboo
dude... breathe
😂😂😂😂
Sure they taste is good, but "sake drunk" sucks compared to wine & most liquors.
Sake is great. anglo talk is not.
Please ask to be removed from wine tv that guy soo destroys your credibility being with such a joke. However on plus size BC of his channel I found you;)
