    There’s something I’ve noticed about people with kids … the kids who are more respectful and well behaved seem to have parents who acknowledge their good behavior and praise their efforts. Kids with bad attitude only get attention when they’re misbehaving.
    It’s good to see you being a good Dad - keep it up 👍 Thanks for raising 2 good guys!

      I agree, I think it’s important to teach young boys and girls marksmanship and firearms safety and letting them practice it in a safe environment. I feel like it’s a important step in stopping firearm violence. I know that almost everyone I knew had been taught how to handle firearms at a young age , usually by the time they were in the 3rd or 4th grade, I myself had been taught by the time I was 6 and my grandfather had me in the woods and fields hunting by the time I was 7. We would hunt rabbits, squirrels and deer, and he told me from the beginning of the whole thing he told me what would happen if I went in the gun cabinet or touched the gun by his bed without him, which was I would get a but whipping which meant 2 whippings cause if I got one from my papaw I would get another one when I went home from my dad. I have to say that I really enjoyed the time he and I spent doing that.

    I love what you are doing with your kids, you are doing it right! My father taught all 4 of us in the 60's how to dive, as soon as each of us could dive to the bottom of the deep end in a pool , we got our 1st tank. I was 6 years old. He never taught us handling guns, I wish he had. But I learned later. Gabe, your entire family from your Mom Betty, and Dad Walt are prime examples of parenting done right. Gods Blessings...

I have three hunting rifles and two pistols that I'm very adamant about when I go shooting and let someone use them. If they don't take the safety issues serious I will not let them shoot. BTW, my favorite is my Remington 270 with a bipod and laser scope.

    There is a good chance Luke will have that gun all his life. When I was young Dad had a Marlin 39A that he would hold up the stock as I tried to aim. The model numbers say it's a 1962 and I'm a 1964. It was the first gun I shot and 58 years later I wouldn't take anything for it. Ammo was .25 cents a box and I don't know how many boxes that thing has seen but it's still deadly accurate.

    • @johnereese5387
      @johnereese5387 2 года назад

      The price of .22 long rifle ammo was 55 cents for a box of 50 rounds or $5.00 for a brick of 10 boxes of 22 ammo. Our most fun target was a wooden matchhead. We had to light the matchhead with the proper place shot. The bullet would just pass over the matchhead where you would light the match. I would light a match with 1 shot out of 10 at 25ft. Load up 10 rounds in a clip and fire at 10-round bullets to target with 10 bull-eyes with the size of 22 bullets. The winner is the most hits in the center. Place a pop can on the side at 50 yards. We would start at 20 yards and move the target at 10 yards until you at 50 yards using a non-scoped rifle or pistol.

    • @turdferguson5300
      @turdferguson5300 2 года назад

      @@johnereese5387 Dad could light the matches also, I was too young to hold up the gun. Scopes wasn't a big thing back then. Today I compete with custom shop Anschutz with a 50 power scope. Dad would consider that useless if he were alive today. It will cut the same hole at 100 yards if I do my part.

    It is great fun to see two young boys have fun outside with their dad. They are being blessed with real life lessons that most young kids will never get. The world would be a much better place if more kids got to have the experiences that your boys get.

    Gabe, I love shooting videos of any kind and, the fact that you are teaching your children to shoot , (and doing a good job of it, teaching them safety, too) and do it well gives you an A+! Thanks for taking the kids shooting!

    LOL! Those kids are great! It is a pure joy watching them grow up. Today, they learned all about hydrostatic shock. And, I love how humble Luke is... "'cause I'm the best at this. "

    That Luke is something spectacular! You say something and wonder is he even listening?! You bet he’s listening, tell him once and it’s a done deal! He doesn’t even have to take his time lining it up, it’s on the target and boom! He did that in another video of yours too when he was shooting a hog. You were whispering behind him telling him what to do and he pulled the trigger in mid sentence and got the hog! Both kids are great at what you teach them!

    I'm 70 and wish I was half the father you are. My daughter turned out fine but I pretty much credit that to my wife and good luck . I wish could have watched you and your brother 45 years ago. Thanks for the videos.
