      Occupational therapists and physical therapists study four years of this in college and are interned in hospitals for 2 years to treat actual stroke patients before they are able to take the licensing exam from the government and get their degree/diploma. That's why they know what exercises to recommend to stroke patients to help them recover from stroke, mild or major.

    Tengo una pregunta son los mismos para lado izquierdo que para lado derecho?
    Al estimular con el hielo la espasticidad siempre empuja la mano a posición de garra contra el pecho. Como se puede determinar que no es un movimiento propio de la espasticidad?

      True that

    • @markdavid4897
      @markdavid4897 2 года назад

      1.) Sugar is bad for you. Stay away from it when possible.
      2.) Salt is actually good for you. You NEED Salt so that your body systems work correctly. We need salts in our cells - that's how they regulate their size by bringing water in by osmosis; that's also how they regulate electrical activity. Nerve cells, for instance, couldn't carry information without actually having this electrical gradient across the membrane because all that's happening when a nerve cells fires off an impulse is that you get a sudden flood of sodium in to one patch of a nerve cell. Too little salt in your blood can become too dilute and you have very low sodium levels and this can cause problems with your brain swelling. It can also cause the accumulation of water elsewhere around the body and it can cause heart failure so low salt is a bad thing to have.
      3.) GOOD FATS are all Animal; Fats including butter, Ghee, beef tallow, pork lard, basically all animal fats are healthy and natural. Our body needs the correct kinds of fats in order to work well.
      4.) Tree sourced fats and oils such as Coconut oil, Avocado oil, and Olive oil are also fine.
      5.) BAD FATS are all "vegetable" oils, including canola, corn, peanut, sunflower, safflower, soy bean, cotton seed oils, shortening, margarine, , as these are all artificial, heavily processed, go rancid very quickly. and they cause many heart attacks and cancer. Heart attack rates soared after the Government started promoting vegetable oils in the 1950's.
      6.) Whatever the Government tells you about fats, do the OPPOSITE and you will be better off..

    Hey, could you explain a bit why these exercises/methods are effective? What are their physiological meanings for the weak limb? What reactions in brain does the taping/brushing/icing cause? Is it that the sensory input is supposed to help the efferent neurosignals with motor control? I cannot seem to find the answer in any of my references. Thanks :)

      Is the muscle tone spastic or flaccid? If it is flaccid, meaning it just lax or slack, this video is appropriate if it is getting spastic or getting stiff, do the second stage or the 3rd stage video. More power to you

      Best improvement is usually within the first 6-12 months. After that, improvements are possible but results will likely come slower. It's always worth trying, just make sure you are consistent.

    Hello Nathan, thank you for this. I am thinking of showing it to my mother who had a stroke 5 months ago - she has no movement in her arm whatsoever, if she lifts it - the arm flops down. I don't want to give her any false hope as it has been a traumatic experience for her. Could these techniques have any chance of working on a patient with no movement at all in the arm? Thank you.

    • @SKILLSANDWELLNESS

      This is exactly what i made for. For a floppy or flaccid arm. Pleaae try this step by step. Just follow along and do the tapping or the other faciliatation techniques with her.

      For as many times they can. If the patient can only do one intentional movement, thats all for that set. Rest rhat groip of muscles, go to the next and go back for another round.
