    Agreed with Justin over scraping off old glue to leave a clean join. Then just repaint. With regards to vehicle ariels, get some guitar string, cut it to length and unravel the top portion to reveal the core. This gives you a great looking vehicle ariel :)

    We've stopped using foam because my buddies and I have come to realise it slowly rubs the paint off the models.
    We've all switched to magnetising the bases and sticking magnetic band on the bottom of our drawers or repurposed tool boxes (or alternatively we use metal drawer systems like the ones from ikea). The models don't slide around and they are safe to travel with. Only downside is that you need to keep the right side of the drawer up and you can't carry it around as easily as a bag. Then again the older we get the more we prefer skirmish games. That usually means one drawer will do.

    For aerials I use guitar, and bass guitar strings. They come in loads of different gauges, they're cheap and look wicked. Just hand drill them in, with a drop of super glue and you're sorted. You can roll a tiny bit of green stuff onto the end as well

    The best material to use for vehicle aerials is nylon brush bristles. One 50p brush will last you a lifetime!

    Aaaaah the first miniature. I painted with Humbrol enamels. I did a really old dwarf, had a very limited range of colours and the dwarfs skin was REALLY pink. And for some reason his eyes were red. 'Pinky red-eyes' was a legend back in my old gaming group...

    I use a pieces of sprue excess sprue. Light it with a flame and carefully pull to required thickness. Makes great ariels and are easy to replace.

    Glad to hear that you're working on cutting your weight. I know how hard that can be. I used to be 104.4 Kilograms and, while I could lift heavy, I was otherwise in miserable shape - I was out of breath walking up 10 stairs.
    Remember to never get down and keep working at it. It generally takes 12-16 weeks before real results are realized.
    Just some pointers if you are short on time due to busy-ness:
    - Stand instead of sitting at your desk or while playing a wargame
    - For each point of damage you or one of your models/units takes, do that many push-ups (press ups in ye olde country), sit ups, air squats, jump-n-jacks (star jumps?), or some combination thereof
    - Every hour, on the hour, do a quick circuit of three or four exercises, 10-20 repetitions of each exercise
    - Do 30 burpees in a row, once per day...it's going to suck...a lot...but it'll help get you to where you want to be
    And for diet:
    - Make snacks fruits and/or veggies instead of chips or pop/soda
    - Cut out sodas and sugar
    - Reduce the amount of bread/rice/pasta/potato carbs you eat (I'm down to no carbs after 11AM, and generally just a slice of toast with breakfast)
    Diet has always been hard for me too. I love my foods, but if big guys like us want to lose weight that's where we have to focus.
    Best of luck with your weight loss! I'm also part of the BoW Fit Club so I'll be posting there too. :)

    06:00 I always use guitar string for everything, pinning and aerials and the like. It's ace and if you know a guitarist or are one, you have a steady supply of old strings to refill the pool. Plus the wound strings are good for some details.

    In a combat theatre I would imagine thick radio antenna would probably add a level of robustness and added survivability. Plastic coated with thin layers of super glue can be fairly strong just don't put any pressure on them to much or they'll snap.

  • @vulkan1013
    @vulkan1013 10 лет назад

    So I have Artizan miniatures nicely painted up for the Rules of Engagement system for WW2. Are they (the Artizan product line) easily converted to the Bolt Action system? It seems in the demo games on BoW that there are a lot of similarities as far as squad makeup and vehicles... or do I have to buy all new minis and get moving in those?

  • @TheRunesmythe
    @TheRunesmythe 10 лет назад

    I do honestly believe that there comes a point where a miniature or model has been repaired too many times. Even if we're talking about plastic and plastic cements, when you can start to see that limbs/weapon/etc have been broken in multiple places its probably time to retire it. White metal ones are worse, since your only options are green stuff and CA glue and it becomes apparent quickly. However, I've found that Simple Green will soften all but the worst caked on CA glue, and I mean stuff that's starting to add bulk to joins and places, and even Green Stuff. Also, fishing line works well for aerials. Clip if to the desired length, secure it with CA glue and then paint it with thinned black paint (or whatever color is applicable).

  • @PMMagro
    @PMMagro 10 лет назад

    Bolt Action is brilliant.
    More intense, fewer models to fix and- if you like modelling/painting bigger= better oppertunity for piating and modelling.
    Me a lazy lousy painter I use my 15mm units, you can test Bolt Action using 15mm FOW with bases and terrain and all. If you like it (like me) then reuse all terrain and vehicles. + get some few15mm inf & bases. Or go 28mm for great modeling and paiting possibilities. The vehicles in 28mm are out off scale though- I'd check Tamiya for a more realistic proportion between men and vehicles at 28mm.

    Hey warren. Glad to hear you want to lose weight. Its not as hard as you think it is. The most important thing to do is to change the what you eat. Diet is about 70% of weight loss where as exercise accounts for 30%. I would recommend joining a local slimming club such as weight watchers or slimming world. As a member of slimming world i will tell you that you will be surprised at what, and how much you are able to eat and still make amazing losses. This will leave you with the extra time to play games and be with your family. it also allows your family to jump on board and help with your change. I wish you luck in you new en-devour and to seeing a slimmer you each week.

    My answer to repairing a modle to many times. Yes and no as the same time.
    As long as the breaks are clean you can always repair it. You will have to remove old super glue, green stuff, and paint as times, but if you do this you can bring it back. I've made a point of collecting "broken models" and putting new life into them.
    Cases were you can't repair the modle anymore is in cases of pieaces that broke with a "tear" instead of a clean break thus warping the part. Their are also cases of there so much material was lost during the break, that their is not enough to work with to save it. This dose not mean that the modle is useless thow!
    Even modles to that point can be recycled. Parts can be cut off, cleaned up properly and find use in other models. Parts and even whole modles can be used in terrain to create dead bodies and wreaked vehicles!
    No model is ever a 100% write off for me, and i am always happy to take in broken and damaged models as long as the price is right.
