  • THIS recipe is a game changer! It has all the feel of comfort food with a fresh flavor that is so tasty. I must confess, I'm not a huge fan of tuna noodle casserole. I like all the ingredients that are usually in it, but somehow when they all come together in a casserole form it always seemed heavy and lacking depth of flavor. Not anymore, one ingredient changed EVERYTHING! 👇👇👇 CLICK FOR RECIPE & DETAILS 👇👇👇

    I just made this and it was out of this world. I give it ten stars out of a five star survey! ha ha ha and I almost didn’t make it because I didn’t have any cream of celery soup but Louise has a recipe for cream of celery soup that you make in the hot cold blender and I did have celery. And it turned out absolutely outstanding. I just can’t give Louise enough kudos for her delicious recipes I’ve never had a failure.

    I don't use preshedded cheese much anymore. What I do is when shredding cheese I shred extra while I'm at it. Usually all that I have and out it in an airtight container or bag and refrigerate. I'll have it ready for the next week or two. I'll do the same when chopping some veggies and onions. Things that I use often in recipes.

      I like shredding my own cheese too.
      The previous shredded heese has cellulose in it (that white grainy film) in it to keep it from clumping.
      President shredded heese doesn't taste good. I don't like it.

    It's the first time using the Foodi for tuna casserole, but I used your recipe, adapted with my own and the results were fast and delicious. Three cups chicken stock, medium wide noodles...I use a whole can of cream of mushroom soup, a block of cream cheese, and steam cook my vegetables ahead of time. The cook times were perfectly spot on...very impressive.

    Made this tonight, and it’s summertime. I cook the noodles first under pressure. Then add other items, tuna, onion flakes, some cheese, mushroom soups and peas. Heated through on sauté. Added ground corn flakes and more cheese on top to air crisp. Finished off with Pecorino Romano cheese.

    I grew up eating Tuna Noodle Casserole all the time. But I just can't get by the cheese. i know MANY people add cheese, but it just never had it that way growing up. And most of my friends mom's made it too, but none of them added cheese. My dad hates peas, so we never had them at home, but I knew that was a common thing to add. I have tried it with cheese, but it's just wrong to my tastes. I think I will have to try the mixed veggies though, I can definitely see that as a possible enhancement.
    I find it interesting how most of us have our different backgrounds on such a common dish. My husband grew up just 4 hours away, in the same state, and they added cheese all the time. It's also funny how just a single ingredient, that a person likes, can seem so wrong in a particular dish.
    I "say" this all just to show why many people love your style, you are always sure to tell everyone to make any changes they want to make it work for them. Keeping things simple is why it works with almost all of your recipes. Thanks for keeping it simple for the oddballs like me.

      @@gennesamann4323 Yes I love to use pork rinds as breading and topping. I will have my son-in-law pick me up a spaghetti squash I hadn't thought of that. I am experimenting on some noodles made from lupin flour and almond flour the ones I tried last night weren't too bad I did dehydrate them for 3 hours before I cooked them. Thinking this might be an option. I can also see subbing canned chicken as an option for the casserole.

      I think it would be good with cauliflower florets instead of the pasta. The directions would be different though. Probably best done with the sear/sauté so you control the cook of the cauliflower. Less liquid of course. Plain cheese topping or crushed pork rinds.

    That looks delicious but, I’m wondering how good it would be cold, I’m always looking for cold tuna dishes! A long time ago, having made a hot tuna dish, I discovered that, much as I enjoy tuna pasta salad and other cold tuna dishes, hot tuna is not something I, not even one iota, like 🤢

      It's meant to be served hot, but I also don't like hot tuna in anything and love this. I've also been known to eat it cold, but that's just me! LOL

    Your recipe looks great, Thank you. The substitutions plus shallots sounds right for me. I haven't heard the name Minor's Soup Bases for more than 35 years when I used ask Gourmet Country Club chef's to sell me some of theirs right off their store room shelves. That was when it was only sold through food service distributors. Minors Low sodium will now be my back up broth.

      Nope, not even close! Personally, I don't like tuna noodle casserole the way most people make it, so I changed it up and it's so good! However, if you like your version that is all that matters! Make the food you love.

    am i wrong but you said 8 oz of noodles, but that looks like a 4 cup measuring cup which works out to 32 oz.

      I agree with Maryann and have the same question for Louise. You said the recipe calls for 8 oz of pasta (egg noodles) but the measuring cup you used in the video looked to be a 32 oz pitcher and it was filled to the top. Please reply and tell us how much pasta to use. I will be making this with GF penne. Thank you, Louise!

    • @Ozziecatsmom
      @Ozziecatsmom 3 года назад +2

      I think a box or bag of pasta/ noodles is measured in weight not volume. So a bag of pasta that weighs 8 oz could measure differently depending on the size of piece. A bag of tiny noodles could measure 1 cup while bigger noodles could measure 2 cups. I hope this makes sense:)

    • @TheSaltedPepper
      @TheSaltedPepper  3 года назад +3

      Volume and weight are two different things. 8 ounces of this pasta equals about 4 cups of volume. Think of it this way. 1 volume cup of rocks weighs more than 1 volume cup of feathers. Measuring cups are volume based and have nothing to do with the weight of an item. The packaging for dried pasta is weight based, so you use 8 ounces weighed. Now, you don't have to weigh it of course. If your bag says 8 ounces, use the whole thing. If it says 16 ounces, use half.

      @@TheSaltedPepper thank you, Louise. I used 16 oz (2 cups) of Gluten Free penne pasta and it came out perfect! I am going to try it next time with canned salmon. I made your creme of celery soup too and it is delicious. Thank you for this recipe! I finally got to have some GF comfort food in a one pot meal! You are the best!

      It’s not fishy at all, I don’t really like hot canned tuna, but this is good. Salmon would work as well, but of course the flavors would be different.

    I agree with other comments, you are the best ninja foodi chef in the internet. All the recipes though, are made to fatten up the people and this is a shame 😢Maybe one day , you will decide to cook healthy food…..

      Thank you for the compliment. I have to respectfully disagree with you on your second point because I have plenty of healthy recipes on my website. The issue is that the ones that are more indulgent get viewed more and therefore the social platforms push them out to more people, so you probably aren't seeing the healthy ones. You can find the healthier recipes on my website: thesaltedpepper.com Hope that helps!
