2 - Garlic Cloves, Roughly Chopped
(70g) Plain (All-Purpose) Flour
600ml (600g) - Full Fat Milk, Warmed

425 grams (14.9oz) - Canned Spring Water Tuna, Drained

100g (3.5oz) - Panko Bread Crumbs
150g (5.3oz) - Matured Cheddar Cheese, Freshly Grated
Seasoning To Taste
Flat Leaf Parsley To Garnish, Roughly Chopped
Notes -
The baking dish I used is 40.2cm x 22.9cm x 6.7cm.
If you want to make this creamy with more sauce, add 300g o raw pasta instead of 400g. This will result in a lot more sauce.
Cheese can be added through the bechamel sauce to create a mornay sauce before mixing everything together. As I did in the video, you can add more cheese to the top to make the crust.
If you wish to add more tuna, you can add half a can more. If you want to overload it, add 2 full cans. If you do this, reduce the amount of pasta by 100g.

Is this ok for a valentines day dinner? I will be eating by myself 😅😅
It’s perfect ❤️
Omg hilarious at least you won’t have complaints of fishy breadth 😂😂😂😂

Cue tiny violin 🎻
Eat what you love 💕
Looks delicious! Definitely going to make it. I do a similar'ish one but the tuna is cooked with tins tomato or pasta sauce, with sauteed bell peppers, onion, garlic, herbs and paprika, bit of cinnamon, nutmeg and olives(optional), add tins tomatos or pasta sauce, drained tuna then mixed into the pasta and served. Can be served with spaghetti also
Its a recipe from my brothers spanish mother in law, its yum
Chef Jack, you're really good, clear and for a housewife like me who's used to cooking, I appreciate your tempo! You don't drag on with anything...happy to discover you, thanks Jack!
Now then Jack, this is my kind of food. I will definitely be trying this out. Good to see your confidence growing, fantastic and well done 👍🏻👍🏻
I'm making this tomorrow. It looks absolutely amazing, Jack... Thank you 😊
Excellent with a superb straightforward presentation. Thank you.
You're very welcome!
Cheers Jack, just made this. Love how we can get recipes and info like this for free tbh one of the perks of modern life
One of my favourites, great version. I always have frozen portions of this in my freezer for don't-want-to-cook nights.
Its a great recipe to have ready in the freezer. Thank you
These one dish meals will always be a favorite.
🙌🙌
Thanks so much for this recipe. It was delicious and my hubby loved it too.

Can't wait to try this as I am lactose intolerant and I can just add the cheese to half of it and use Lactaid milk. Thanks for this recipe. Just found you on youtube last week. Can't wait to see more recipes.
Imagine my joy at seeing this recipe by you Chef Jack. I was searching for a recipe with tuna for tea tonight. This is my dinner tonight. Thank you
Please enjoy
@@ChefJackOvens it was absolutely delicious the small amount of lemon gives it a nice little zest without being all about the lemon. Thank you for another great dish of yours I’ve enjoyed
Delicious looking recipe Mate! Super sharp quality to the video. Amazing as always 🙌🏻
Thank you so much mate 🙌🙏🙏
Very nice economical wholesome dish that can feed a hungry family, maybe omitting the cream and adding extra milk. And also if like me, you live alone, you can portion it out to freeze down or eat at your leisure. Well done young man!
You explained this recipe really well. Thank you. I'm going to cook this for my friend's daughter's 11th b'day she likes tuna.
Brilliant. Thanks Jack. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Useful. Economical. Yummy.👍🏼🤗
Looks absolutely amazing, thank you 😊
I made this the other night and it was nice. Makes a heap of it too. My partner did tell me his mums is better as she cuts up hard boiled eggs and puts them through hers and has a tastier sauce. I’ll have to ask her for the recipe.
Yo jack, thanks for making these videos and inspiring me to cook more.
Easy to follow, no messing, what a great teacher you are. 👍
I appreciate that!
@@ChefJackOvens And I appreciate what you are doing. Thank you.
I tell everyone about your channel, greetings from Germany.👍
This looks so good!!
I’ve been cooking for years however, only learnt today about the different types of roux! Thanks for that 😂
A souped up tuna noodle casserole! Looks fabulous!!

Looks delicious and making me very hungry. Thanks Jack. X
It really is delicious 🤤
love the mornay! fish cakes are great too just add mashed potato to your mornay mix and corn
Definitely! I’ll have to do fish cakes soon
Looks delicious😋, may try it in my menu next week - substituting chicken though. 😋🥘
Thank you very much 🎉
You should definitely keep the meal prep series going
This is impeccable timing! I'm making a Tuna Mornay tomorrow night for dinner, just ordered what I need from Woolies.... A few things in this video are different to how I usually make it so I'll give it a crack! Cheers again!
Awesome ! Imho, gas oven makes it quicker to change from high to low heat
great recipe
Tomorrow night sorted out. 👌 I'll throw in some paprika and some jalepenos and a leek. Many thanks brother 🙏
Yum!! They would be perfect additions. Let me know how it turns out 👌👌
Could I use cubes of potato instead of pasta (not a great fan of pasta)? Thanks for another great video Jack! Have a great weekend and TFS 👍❤
I'm a GEN X kid and we grew up having to eat everything that mum cooked, but Tuna mornay was the only thing my mum didn't make me eat, I'm sorry Chef Jack as incredible your recipes are, I'll not be inclined to make it, thanks for sharing, have a great weekend
Use another fish! Smoked Haddock being an excellent alternative.
@@ChrisM541 hey, thanks for the great tip, but any type of Mornay I don't like at all, doesn't matter if it's chicken or fish or any protein, if its in a Mornay 🤢🤢🤮🤮, I've never liked it even from a young age, but that you, I'm just weird
Damn, I'm cooking this for sure. Cheers mate.
I found you today!!! Gonna try. Hi from Malaysia. 😊
Welcome! Please enjoy 😊
Would love some variety in my anti-inflammatory diet. Your ideas would be welcomed !
Pure genius ✔😙👌
🙌🙌
Mmmmm! My day got better I could make it right now haha !
Haha you should 😉
Would love a tuna & broccoli bake recipe xx
You can add broccoli to this too 🙌
Oooh I'll give it a go x
I would like to see you actually making a stock with these scraps. Do you just save them all in the fridge or something? Or freeze them?
I usually freeze them when I have the time to make stock. Go check out my beef stock recipe. I use all the scraps 🙏
Приятного аппетита!)
🤤🤤
Hello Jack buddy.
I had a quick idea for your video. Hope it is not too late. Can you make a 3 course Valentines dinner video? For us that cannot go out but want to cook something to surprise our significant other.
Great recipe 👍🏼 just want to check if I can substitute oat milk for regular milk? Also how long can this be kept in the freezer/fridge?
Honestly never tried with oat milk but I don’t see why it wouldn’t work. Of course it will change the flavour though. In regards to storage it will last 3 days in the fridge and 3 months in the freezer. Place it back into the oven or microwave until hot.
Yum yum yum, will add some peas and corn
delicious ...
😋
Corned beef hash would be great. Everyone makes it differently, like stovies in Scotland
Could you make ahead and freeze. Looks lovely.
So you're a fellow Adelaidian boy. Just trying this recipe now
Please can you make the most perfect Thai chicken curry ❤️
I make something similar, but much simpler, macaroni and chopped up sausage with sauce mixed inn and cheese over. Then split it into several glass containers and chill or freeze to have for several days.
Nice one! Sounds nice and simple but tasty
@@ChefJackOvens Yeah, I'm not very advanced, but it's pretty good :) I have been thinking about maybe adding something to the sauce (bechamel) to change it up a bit.
Never actually baked it before, usually heat it on the stove and throw some corn in as well. Such a simple and delicious dish, will definitely give this a crack next time!
Lovely dish! Just a quick question, if I may. Does thickened cream equate to double cream? Thanks!! Peter A
It’s cream with a fat percentage of 35% it’s similar to whipping cream or as long as the double cream you’re using is pourable 🙌
@@ChefJackOvens Thank you very much for the clarification, Chef. Greatly appreciated! All good wishes and kindest regards. Peter A 😀
It's not used in this video, but can you please tell me what that pan you use in alot of your videos is with the two handles on the side and no long handle. It's like a deep saute pan. See your sweet and sour meal prep vid in case I'm describing it terribly lol. Thanks.
Im still waiting for the lamb rack recipe!!😁
I have made this using the exact amount of ingredients in the recipe, but the tuna got a bit lost among all the pasta. Looks like I could have easily doubled the amount of tuna. Otherwise all good. I found that I had to use a bit more milk, like 700ml, but the exact amount can’t be predicted since it depends on the particular flour in question, so no big deal. Already contemplating a lazy lasagna based off this lol))) Thanks for the recipe.
Hey what's the time of that song at the end of the vid?
🤤🤤🤤
🤤🤤🤤
Very nice recipe will definitely give it a burl thanks Chef. 😊
Thank you 🙏
Looked good, so i decided to make it, glad i did, a tasty change having tuna👍
bro, I've got food allergies, I keep watching man - you are not helping ! 🤣😅Great videos, just keep them up !
Can this be frozen or is that a no go?
Sure can. It will last 3 months
can you do one with sardines?
Nutrition value??? I can calculate it myself, sure. Thank you for the recipe!
I’m not a meal prep channel 🙏 that’s just a series I do
@@ChefJackOvens I like those series. You're very good at it.
I need this receipt for weight loss? Right??
Hey mate can you do something vegan/vegetarian please?
When making the sauce, put all of the milk in at once and keep stirring. And add cheese to it. Then it's a Mornay sauce. You don't need cream. Just put cold milk in and bring it to the boil and cook it for 3 min and keep stirring it so you don't get lumps. It will get creamy on its own. Putting hot milk in has a tendency to make it coagulate. Hot roux, cold milk. Cold roux, hot milk.
Please don’t make it like that
@@ChefJackOvens you mean make an actual Mornay sauce and make it properly?. I highly doubt you're actually a chef
I can’t find the storage instructions??
Bro you need to make rissoles 😊
Definitely
Me realizing that my mum has been making tuna bake and not mac and cheese my entire childhood 😭
Hand over your tuna bake :D
I so wish that pasta wasn't a carb!! Type 2 diabetic and rice, bread, pasta & potatoes are all a weakness!!
Is it still a Mornay if the cheese isn't mixed into the sauce?
Technically no but the fact that the cheese melts through the bechamel makes it mornay
@@ChefJackOvens thanks for clarifying!
Made it added 500g peas corn and little cheese in the white sauce
Lasagna beef please
Thank you thank you thank you for not using that nasty condensed cream of whatever soup! Lots of recipes use it, and I don’t like that. It’s so much better with regular old white sauce!
Random question but have you had jaw surgery to correct a previous underbite?
Nope had braces for 4 years though
Better than my mum’s
Should boil the water before you put in the salt. For pasta.
Apricot chicken please
Already done 🙌
jack i'm in love with you please respond happy valentines day
Happy valentines day ❤️
Video says 600ml of milk, description says 420ml. Which one is it?
My apologies, it’s 600ml
@@ChefJackOvens Thank you, Chef! I will be trying to recipe tomorrow it looks delicious and I love tuna!

Toona
Have you tried a choona bhuna. Outstanding mate.
Hopefully after making this my house won’t smell like a girls locker room.
It's not a Mornay in this video, it's a bechamel au gratin...
To be a real Mornay, the cheese has to be incorporated in the bechamel, along with egg yolks.
