  • Thank you all so very much for your prayers, your love, and your unwavering support for me through all of this. I look forward now to getting my weakened body back into shape, build my endurance back and get stronger every day. I am now looking forward to learning how to walk up and down stairs again leading with my healed leg, learning to kneel, walking unassisted and riding a bike again!!!! 😆👏🏻 My heart is so full of joy and gratitude. God is Good! 🙏🏻❤️ Love you All.

It's time for mental healing! Don't look back, you're not going that way. After trauma, we cannot face our thoughts, but then we learn to soldier through the pain of remembering them. But we cannot bear to say it out loud or we will crumble. Then we learn to say it out loud and it is haaard. The more we say it out loud, the easier it gets to talk about and process. It's refreshing, but only for so long. If it is said out loud too often and thought of too often, it will trap you in a maze where you will go round and round and feel stuck. The moment you feel stuck, it is time to move on. Remember the movie "The Never Ending Story"? I cried when Artax the horse sunk in the "Swamp of Sadness" but the wise old turtle said something like "Don't let the sadness overtake you" because if you do, it will swallow your whole life. The subconscious brain cannot reason, judge, or make sense of things. Our conscious mind does that. We communicate outside of our bodies through language and words, but internally EMOTIONS communicate with our brains and glands causing hormones and chemicals to be released. These chemicals are also the language that communicates with our brains. If you keep revisiting trauma in your mind and keep experiencing negatives emotions, negative chemicals will keep getting released and will therefore be constantly telling your body that you are STILL in trauma just as if the event is STILL happening..right now. It's ok to be in an emergency state for short periods, but not long term. The subconscious brain has no concept of time. It thinks you are still there in the car.

Absolutely! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I am going to pin this! It’s fascinating as someone who have been so deeply immersed in trauma that some people WANT me NEED me to stay IN IT!!!!! Like, how can she move on? She must not have truly loved her husband! And some people want me to act and behave as if thats long in the past and I NEED TO MOVE ON ALREADY! And yet none of them are walking through the fire. They are just observers of watching me walking through it. I am not only choosing to do this in a healthy way but i NEED to because my babies are watching and they too carry trauma. They need to be healthy. As much as I can help them walk through their own fire. And walking through that doesn’t have to be bad. It’s an experience. And experiences bring all sorts of emotions. But I can’t allow myself to drown because I will drown my babies as well. The Lord walks with me. But I need to keep moving forward despite outside judgement and criticism. This experience isn’t for them. Its for me. Us. Our family. And we are choosing to find our joy and spread seeds of hope and faith and health. Thats all we can do. 🙏🏻❤️ thank you for such a beautiful comment. I wish more folks understood.

@@TheKneadyHomesteader Excellent comment! I'm so proud of you! I really like when you said "This experience isn't for them. It's for me. Us. Our family. And we are choosing to find our joy and spread seeds of hope and faith and health" That sounds like a wonderful mantra to repeat daily. Healing IS an experience--a journey--not something we can snap our fingers and overcome immediately. It's a process that takes DAILY effort and some days you fall off the wagon, but as long as you get back up, you'll get there. I love a book called "The Compound Effect" because it talks about tiny seemingly invisible improvements that add up every day to turn into a big noticeable achievement. Every day of PT, every day of scriptures, every day of discovering new perspectives..it all compounds to massive change. I love that you said "we are CHOOSING to find our joy.." instead of living on auto-pilot. When something happens out-of-our-control we feel so powerless, but power comes from within. I'm so happy to see you realize that and are tapping into it. "What CAN I control?"..."What step toward happy and healthy will I take today?".."What have I learned today about my healing process to help myself and others"..You are doing all the right things!! And it makes me so happy to see that!

I didn't follow your channel before your tragic accident where your life was turned upside down. I saw different things about you afterwards and would check in on you from time to time. This video has me in tears too. I'm so sorry for all that you have had to endure. I saw the earlier video where you spoke about how you'd experienced touch deprivation while hospitalized, and that struck a nerve too. I don't think anyone can imagine all of the physical and emotional pain and trauma you've had to navigate just to reach this point. I'm so sorry you lost your husband, but I'm so thankful that you exceeded everyone's expectations, survived, and are healed from at least some of the injuries now. That is such a tremendous blessing. I am especially glad because all of this means that you are still here for your children, particularly, and because you have defied the odds and healed as well as you have, you are still here to mother them, and they really need that. I'm thankful that their injuries were no more severe than they were too. I realize you've shed many, many tears and experienced severe heartache in the face of loss and recovering from horribly painful injuries, but you have shown so much grace and dignity in the process of recovering and adjusting to a life that was reordered in ways you had no say in. I just want you to know that I have a great deal of admiration and respect for you.
I recently fell and fractured the small bone in my leg (fibula) at the ankle as well as my kneecap. My injury is relatively minor, but it left me incapacitated and in pain. I remembered you and all that you'd been through when I was going through the worst of it. It gave me some perspective and helped me to not feel overly sorry for myself. It feels stupid to even mention my situation, but I wanted you to know that you were an encouragement to me because of how much you've overcome that no one should ever have to experience. My experience was just bad luck and bad timing, but you were a source of encouragement nonetheless. I think it's sweet that your doctor, in discharging you, asked that you send him updates on how well you are doing. Clearly, you touched his heart too. Wishing you all the best and unfathomable blessings that bring joy and laughter into your life, and praying that the Lord will abundantly bless you and meet all of the needs of you and your family. ❤️

I loved this comment so much. Thank you! Not many will ever be able to comprehend the depths of pain and suffering and sorrow i have crawled myself out of and that I am a survivor and a warrior. I had to fight for every ounce of healing. And I am proud of myself but also know all glory goes to God. He was the only one who got me through all of it. 🙏🏻❤️ thank you so much for these kind words and shame on those who feel my story is something to be gossiped about and dissected and judged. What I went through I wouldn’t wish on another human being. Ever. 🙏🏻 With that said, both my tibula and fibula were crushed in my accident along with both of my feet, not to mention my femur. I know how painful that is and I am so sorry! I pray you are healing beautifully! How are you feeling? Did you need physical therapy? Learning to walk again is so incredibly difficult but you got this!!!!! And i pray you get stronger every day!!!! How are you doing?

When our son passed away, I was in so much grief. I knew he was in heaven, but I just wanted to know he was okay there. It took another mother who lost her child to say, “he’s not dead. He’s not behind you. He’s very much ALIVE In his permanent home waiting for you to finish out Gods plan for your life. You are not walking away, you are walking toward him, one day in heaven.”
That helped give me the courage to walk forward. It was minute by minute, hour by hour and day by day. Jesus picked me up when I couldn’t stand. The sting isn’t completely gone, it’s just deeper in my heart. The void will always be there. Jesus has helped me get through those rough days.
Love and hugs to you dear friend. I wish I could take your pain away. I know the One who will take your hand and help you through it. God bless you sweet sister in Christ!❤️🙏

Grief isn’t something you just get over, it’s something you learn to live with. Even years later, a song, a date, a smell will take you back. Eventually though, the memories of the happy will be stronger than the memories of sadness, but we all grieve differently. I’m still praying for you and your family, God’s grace and mercy covering you. To “Be still and know that I am God” is something I think we all work on. Many Blessings to you and yours always. ❤

I don’t find that happy replaces the sad. I’ve been grieving a loss since 1990. My best friend and lover, father of my children and husband.
I’ve been remarried even and it never made me think on happy things when I thought of my best friend that knows me like no other ever has.
I used to understand why this happened. I don’t anymore. For a good decade I’ve recognized there’s nothing good that came out of it. It was just devastation for all involved. It was senseless.
And I rest in His palm to carry me even tho I don’t understand.
      Hallelujah!

I’m scared to move forward because I don’t want to leave him [Matt] behind.” That was your last earthly connection with Matt. Even though you know he is in Heaven for everlasting life, in your natural body, he is back there and behind you.
In your spiritual mind you know that he has gone ahead and will be there for you and with you when God calls you onward to your forever home.
So DO keep moving through your mission on earth, caring for your children, family and friends while teaching and loving others. Every moment, every day counts as you show gratitude for your life and family and move closer to to your reunion with Matty and God. Love you, Heather.

Grief show us you’ve loved and been loved deeply Heather. So thankful you still have Matt in your “rememberer”😊.
As you now have a new beginning with your doctors release and having a tough time with this, I thought of a story that has helped me so many times:
When he was a little boy, Mr Rogers’ mother told him that when he saw sad things, to focus and “look for the helpers”. That has helped me so much. As a believer, we can see who God has sent in our grief. To redirect our thoughts in this plan of Gods- albeit not the plan we would have had. These “helpers” are Gods hands and feet on earth through Him.

I said, God, you've got something for me in this, while still lying on the freezing driveway assessing the safety of the 3 children I was babysitting. In your dimmest hour, ask your yourself what would be your advice to the next person going through similar situations? Ask yourself what would Matt's advice be for you? It's very tough, But so are you! Your living proof that you have another purposeful journey ahead of you. One foot in front of the other is all it takes, even if you stumble, keep moving. I have said prayers for you and will continue. I didn't go through exactly what you have gone through, but when I was 19 I was ran over by my own car with someone else behind the wheel and it ran over the the right side of my body. It was an accident. I was beside the car trying to teach my mother in law to be how to drive a clutch. She put her foot on the clutch instead of the brake and rolled down a hill right over me. I'm 61 now and due to the lack of technology I have been in a lifetime of pain. But with prayers God helps me to cope and led me to wonderful doctors that are a miracle to me. A month later my fiance was killed right in front of me in a motorcycle accident. Not exactly the same, but I truly do understand. God's speed to you. Miracles are around those who truly believe.
The passage I constantly take comfort from is Psalms ,91:4.

@The Kneady Homesteader thank you, friend. It's very frustrating because the doctors are saying I need this major surgery or I could die or have serious problems, but the hospital said I couldn't get it until I got health insurance.

From your lips to God’s heart! 🙏🏻❤️ However he directs me! But now more than ever we need the Lord, faith, and learning these life skills that the Lord had me learn and continues to teach me. Now more than ever we need to lean in on one another! Not to build a homestead but to have skills to help us survive right from our kitchens and backyards! Amen! 🙏🏻❤️

Matt isnt in the quicksand, his spirit gives you strength and he is in heaven.
Congratulations on being free of your orthopaedic surgeon.

One thing the Lord has showed me, I can do all the hard things because the strength of Jesus is made perfect in my weakness. His grace is always sufficient for us. And, one day…we’ll get a new body like our Lord’s. What a day that will be! But until then, we wait thankfully. Praise Jesus for all his healing in your body, soul and spirit❤️ He’s not done yet…
