I learned the things you spoke of (cooking from scratch) as an older woman. I was a single professional until my retirement (first an RN, then atty). I married at age 68 and I STARTED my journey of baking bread, making sauce from scratch, and learning things most women learn 40 years earlier. You BLESS my heart, dear sister in Christ Jesus. Thank you for the sweet spirit you demonstrate. Blessings in Christ Jesus to your and your children.

Leaving a legacy for your daughter is a beautiful thing. The most precious is your love and kindness. Parents don't always realize what our children need from us. Not "things", but love and understanding. We all don't do it in the same fashion, but many of us just do it. I have followed you ever since Mason was a toddler. You had a wonderful spirit then and have continued to build on it. Peace and blessings to you. The binder is beautiful!

My children asked me to make a cookbook for them when my oldest son was 8 years old. I never measurd a thing but I had to start learning how to do that. My book now has around 250 recipes in it that they can all reproduce. Now, all of my sons and my daughter are the cooks in their families, and they are excellent cooks. I believe the Lord is encouraging people in these difficult days to learn some greatly needed skills. Bless you for all you do. I have learned so much from you. I am an avid cook and still find there are many valuable lessons to be learned from others. Thank you.

You hit the nail on the head about newbies to all this. That's me, and I'm 78 years old! My brother and nieces all think I'm nuts. So I appreciate so much your encouragement! I bought everything to can but haven't yet. I've started cooking from scratch. I have a new, unused bread maker so it will be easier for me. You are precious, my dear. I've been your follower for awhile before accident, and am so happy to see you more frequently now. I pray for you also. Blessings!!

I had more energy. I just kept expanding and moving through learning curve. I learned to can and preserve food to Maintain my health. This year I'm learning to make bread.

I remember those videos about your recipe book (I think I’ve been a viewer for at least 5 years), it’s because of your book that I decided to put a canning binder together. But, yeah, I to have to clean up and pull out any recipes I don’t use. Your new book is just gorgeous. Sister, you’ve taught me so much in canning and baking, I’ve been soooo grateful for the videos over the years. And to see you walk out the path God is calling you on, has touched my heart. And yes, this video was fun for me. 😁 My mom did a "Mother's Book" for us, with memories and thoughts. It was a hardback book with prompts, kind of a fill-in-the-blank. A great format for her, especially because she would have started it near the beginning of her Parkinson's diagnosis. Anyway, as the oldest, I got the main copy after she passed. It was such a wonderful surprise because we never even knew she was working on it. My sister found it as we were going through her things. We made copies for my other sisters and brother. Your daughter will cherish this gift, most definitely. 💝 🤗

1905 was the year my grandmother was born. At about age 15 her father required her to learn how to earn her way in the world, even though they themselves were wealthy. She got a job in a neighbors kitchen, helping their cook. When she realized she loved cooking, she began writing down the recipes she was learning, in a ledger she got from her dad. Then she began gathering recipes from her mother, grandmother and aunts. I inherited that recipe book. As you might imagine, it is Extremely delicate and not something I use real often, because of the age of the paper. About a week ago my daughter asked me for a copy of that book and just today, a cousin did as well. I think these leather cookbooks would be a phenomenal way to preserve the heritage left from my grandmother. This video could Not have come at a better time. You are Such a blessing to those who are willing to open their hearts and allow it, thank you.

How anyone in their right mind could even consider being negative about anything you share. There are people that live their live thinking the are above and know more than others. It’s time to come together as one society. Group together teach, learn, share with one another and stop being so negative. if negativities is your thing, turn on your TV. You can get it all there? I have found RUclips for the most part a place to learn. That’s why I come here. That’s why I no longer have a television. The negativity on the TV is what drove me away from it. And I for one, appreciate those that give us their time to teach us how to do things. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you do.

I created one for my family in 2008 for my family with my grandmama’s and my Mama’s recipes while my Mama was still living. I did include some family history. My great grandmother in the great depression was married and had 9 children. They taught me from the age of 7. Now my 10 year old grandson who lives with his dad and hubby and I, can cook a full meal. Boy's need to learn to love cooking too. Xoxoxoxo

What a beautiful book! And a beautiful, loving gift for Mina! I was a teacher and was called the Binder Queen, so what else would I make to preserve the family recipes? Yup- a binder. I made copies of all the recipes and included little stories with them. I gave copies to my kids and my grandson, and have been expanding this collection, adding new ‘found recipes’ as well as old favorites. My goal is to print a spiral-bound cookbook that will also have the family stories in it, along with pictures. I want my family to know how we all got here and what Granny looked like. (My dad was born in the Netherlands and came to the New World in 1911. My moms family has been here for 14 generations. I am the family genealogist and have written their stories.) You know, your sons might like a copy, too! Much love to you and your family as you become what God wants you all to be. Many blessings your way!

Dearest Heather, My sister-in-law was a stay-at-home mother who learned to cook on her own. Over the years she made wonderful meals for her two children. They loved her meals and she made a cookbook for each of them. In a binder, each page sealed in plastic with a photo at the top of each, not necessarily of the food itself, but of a family memory. Being an aunt and uncle, we were even included so they would think and remember us. So very special. Yes, do this for you daughter and family!!

Thank you so much for this video Heather. I am much much older than you but you inspire me each time that I watch your videos. As I raised my children, they actually thought the smoke alarm was the dinner bell. They knew when it went off, the bread was coming out of the oven! So when I retired, I knew a cooking channel was not something that I could do but I knew God was finished using me. I started a Barn Quilt channel and although it is very small, I get so much joy from teaching others how to paint them. Your video inspired me to always remember to pray over each video that each one would bring a smile to at least one person’s heart. Thank you and I love that binder! Wow

I only have one granddaughter and now she has a son and two daughters (my great grandbabies!!! All of her life I have always told her that God blessed me with the SWEETEST, MOST CARING, LOVING granddaughter he could find!!! I have an OLD recipe box that is jammed full of recipes, and I have recipes in drawers, and in my notes on my iPad and iPhone. Just last night I was thinking I was going to redo all my recipes and I purchased two beautiful recipe boxes with beautiful recipe cards…one for my granddaughter and one for me. I’m 78 years old, and I know it’s about time I did this. TY for sharing your heart, Heather…you are ALWAYS a blessing and an inspiration to me!!! Love you sooooo much!!! 💕🙏🏻💕

Good morning, new to your channel. I grew up with mom and grandmother. I knew how to cook from scratch when I left home. But through the years, I started mixing quick fixes with cooking. I am now 72 years young and will be turning 73 in March. I am a widow. My husband passed away in 2019. Next month it will be four years. As a method of therapy, I started a garden in my backyard. This year, I decided to learn how to can and dehydrate. Your recipe is beautiful. I enjoyed your video. Thank your sharing.

Heather, I just started listening to this video and had to stop after a couple of minutes in to say that I believe that you have a wonderful testimony to tell to the world . The fact that you are widely known from being on RUclips will be such a blessings to hear how a Christian young woman that was sharing with others her life and family when a horrible tragedy happened to you and your sweet family. So many ppl wonder why bad things happen to good people and they don’t understand why God would allow such a thing to happen. Your story could shine a light to those who may have turned from God instead of running to Him in the event of a tragedy in their lives . I can remember when I first heard of the tragedy and I was crying for you as I was listening to you tell us about the tragedy. I had been watching you a long time before it happened and I was like why would this happen to such a sweet couple and their family? I’m a Christian too, and it’s hard to understand why God allows such things to happen.
You have such a sweet and kind spirit and I believe that a story is in your heart that could benefit many people . There is so many hurting people in the world today and many people need to hear that in the midst of a tragedy that God is there for them! May the Lord continue to Bless you and your family and I hope you will write a recipe/ story of your life book! Heather’s Recipes and Life Story Of God’s Grace and Love In The Midst Of A Tragedy…😉just having fun with a title .. ha but I think it’s sweet that you are doing this for your sweet Daughter and the book is so beautiful and I know she will treasure it ! I really hope you could take from it some of the recipes and stories and such from it to share publicly … I know that if the Lord lays it on your heart that you will. I pray that the Lord will lead you to write stories that will Bless your Daughter and possibly other’s as you write throughout this Book! I really felt that there’s already a powerful Spiritual Anointing already on this book as you were opening it and going through the pages !
    Blessings!💕
