- Just occasionally, the fly fishing gods aren't smiling upon you. For whatever reason, the stars don't align and the more you try to tighten a line, the more elusive it seems to be... This was one such trip as I teamed up with mates Hans, Rob and Austrian Guide Christof Menz, to try to winkle out a few trout from the deep south. Things finally come together and the fish rise to our dries on a cool late season day on some stunning water. Tight lines to all and please 'Like and Subscribe' to see more of this content.

Another blockbuster film from you Mike Fsher, sitting infront of another cold beer which went down a treat watching this, I always enjoy watching your ones that go 40 minutes plus & beyond, some beaut fish caught as always, at some stunning waters, looked like Yas had a great time away
Once again, a great fly fishing adventure. Tremendous images, never disappoint. Mike, greetings from Spain!
PescataMinuta thanks so much for watching and I’m glad you liked it!
Epic video once again Mike!
Simon Smith cheers mate!
I don't mean this negatively but it's nice to see you have tough days too. It's honest because we all have them and don't talk about them. I had one today with high winds making every cast difficult and I think even the fish thought it was a better day to stay low. Also funny to see a fish eat an indicator, can't tell you how often I have seen that and always met with a laugh. And of course the inconvenient tangles, that wasn't a Disney movie, it was the story of my fly fishing career! As always Mike I enjoy your videos and always puts me in a better mood.
Colin Dunn cheers mate, I simply document what happens out there and let what unfolds tell the story. Main thing I guess is we have fun regardless.
Awesome video thanks
Rocky O no worries
Excellent!
Michael Woehrl cheers!
Ohh my...I just love your channel sir 👍💖 there's a lot of superb nature 💖😍
A very enjoyable watch Mike, a well told story of the trials and tribulations that make up those few days you had on the water. Stunning images from that camera setup and great skill in capturing it all as well. Keep em coming and cheers for sharing!
Double Taper cheers Chris! I shot this footage as a test of my 4K handycam and it came up trumps. One inch sensor and a great stabilisation system make it awesome to use.
Great video !
Thanks!
What a nice little stream to stalk fish up along together with some good friends. I slightly panic every time the guy in green nets a fish and holds it a meter up in the air.. Great edit and narrative as usual, you're like the David Attenborough of fly fishing. Hopefully next season will allow visitors to nz so we can come fish with you. Cheers
andreas länn cheers! Yeah guys get excited on camera but no harm done... thanks for the kind comments, Attenborough? I’ll take that! 😬
Thanks for all the great videos Mike. You put a lot of work and thought into your camera work, editing and dialogue and it shows. Very professional. Thanks again
Greg Mulder thanks so much for the kind words and appreciation. It’s a labour of love

Great stuff as per cant wait to get back out to NZ
As usual, Mike. Amazing video, beautiful rivers, and stunning fish, even if it looks likes you had to earn your fish on these three days.
Carl Chambers cheers and we certainly did

cheers and glad you liked it!
One of the upsides to lockdown has clearly been more time for you to edit videos. Absolutely love your stuff and have watched the last few and wished I could be there. We're lucky to get to watch them. Great stuff - keep it up!
Gavin Buchanan thanks for the kind thoughts. It’s been nice with time to get behind the computer and have some fun
Wish I had anything close to those fish in utah
as long as it has fins buddy!
Hi Mike just wondering what type of rods do guys use ? Great vid yet again ,Gods country for sure !
Colin Campbell I use Scott, both Radians and G Series. Best out there IMHO... mainly #5’s. Cheers!
I see yarn indicator fishing, but why not with a hopper as indicator?
ibookje we do sometimes
Another great video Mike. You're a genius. Could you please tell me what the music is around 11 mins in please? It's an emotive piece of piano music. Good luck for the future.
Very kind words indeed. Not sure offhand what that particular piece is suffice to say it’s from royalty free stock
Hi Mike: What's in your backpacks? Seems like a lot to carry for a day on the river? Give us a peek at what you carry?
Lots of lunch!... oh and cameras, heaps of fly boxes and spare clothes
Great video, sure to get thousands of views. I'm unfamiliar with the tights and wooly socks approach. Am I uncool now in waders? I can wear tights to be in this gang!
Yeah, very uncool. You have to have our password to join the gang... :-)
❤
What kind of waders do you ware?
Nice one Mike as a matter of interest how far do you guys walk going into fish some of those places English river May Fly for me this weekend .
michael hocking cheers, it varies. Sometimes right off the road, sometimes big drive big walk or even chopper
What pound leader and tippet and what length??
18ft leaders and 5x flouro tippet
Well, maybe in NZ because you have a smart leader but here in the US, we’re wondering when and if a tomorrow will come.
yeah bit of a worry...
The guy with Patagonia hat has a weird way to play the fish..sidearm and low I guess it works though.
It's called 'down-and-dirty' :)
Why don't you guys use rubber nets?
