Fluctuating Fortunes - Fly fishing New Zealand.

- In this footage shot about three years ago, Hans Kreuer and Tim Howard join forces for a short overnight trip. The early season weather is fickle, with dark brooding clouds, rain, wind at times, and sunshine, to throw everything at the guys with standard October volatility. In typical Kiwi fashion though, the guys rise above the challenges and stick to task to bank some nice fish in the end to ensure a few smiles. After all, that's what it’s all about...
Stay safe everyone and be nice to one another in these troubling times. I hope this takes your mind off this stupid virus for at least a short while.

Mike - you certainly 'caught' some beauty shots there. Always waiting for your next river to see what monsters you pull from their depths. Stay well, and free..

Nice footage! Not have seen it all yet. What I miss is what you use for flies and setup for your tackle. Maybe I will see that later on. Thanks, keep up the good work!
Yeah its more a visual feast than instructional so sorry about that!

Great video as always, it's awesome to see you put another upload up, a pretty windy day to make things challenging, any how some cracking browns caught
Mike, I really enjoy your videos. Are there any small fish in NZ? 😃
Sam Fenimore cheers! And yes, there are small fish, they’re just hiding from the big ones... 😜
Hey mike! I’m only reasonably new to fly fishing, it’s been a life long ambition I’ve only just had the money and chance to pursue!
I’m looking to video my new journeys along the way!
Just wondering what camera gear and editing programs your using ?
Loving your videos mate!
Tight lines!!
Hi Mitch, cheers. I use a Sony NX80 and a Sony A7SIII although thee as ya a very recent addition. All edited using Adobe Premiere Pro CC
Top notch mate
Cheers Dylan!

Emanuel Mancilla fly fishing thanks for watching!
As usual you have turned out a beautiful video with amazing camera work, narration, action and camaraderie. Loved it Mike. Many thanks for keeping my world real !
Chris Rance thank you too for taking the time to watch and give such nice feedback
What weight rods would your recommend for S. Island NZ?
Some old wardogs and some lean fish, very early season?
Yep early season indeed
the call at 9:43 is awesome
Love the videos Mike. Love the NZ flyfishing. I gotta say these gentlemen didn't seem to handle the fish as well as I usually see in your videos. They have nets but beached them on rocks a few times? Not sure I understand the reasoning there but anyway cheers stay healthy thanks for maki.g this Montana boy feel inadequate about our average trout size! Haha
Caylin Daly yep you’re right, the handling at times wasn’t ideal and we’ve spoken about it since. Hans had a bad back on that trip so was struggling a bit but this was three years ago and the guys do it a lot better now
@@mikefsher yes I certainly understand I am currently dealing with my bad back! We have ALL had less than ideal catches and releases. Question about your trout, are you able to blind fish and get into them of all sizes or is there fewer larger fish that require spotting?
Caylin Daly almost always sight fished here
Vaya pencos, no hay pequeñas?
amos, amos amos all big trout by world standards here in NZ
@@mikefsher que suerte de país, disfrutad, además teneis a beauden barret y los all blacks
