    As always very informative video. I got my sram t-type XX SL on my SC Tallboy, 2023. After my first impression between the Shimano XTR and the SRAM T-type, I now can say the sram t-type has performed flawlessly, still no issues with shifting. Now with this update, shimano XTR still a good choice as well as the t-type by sram. I am impressed. As always now you can not go wrong with sram or shimano. Just be aware, do like me, for long rides I always carry two spare fully charged batteries 🪫.

    7:59 A simpler, but heavier solution is to have no holes. Aftermarket options exist. this is done for aerodynamics apparently, but makes cleaning easier, and nothing gets stuck in any holes.
    But no solution for weed straws, grass, and animal hair.

    I’ve actually copied the b bolt set up on my first generation axs and put a small shim in tne B bolt to stop it swinging around. This has greatly reduced the chain slap, once you’ve set the B gap you don’t need it to move again. Also considering moving the hole in the derailleur cage that the clutch goes into to add a touch more tension.

    Have you actually ridden the Transmission? I’ve ridden it for two months now and shifting its far from smooth. It’s still the loud shifting that the old SRAM components provide. Shimano HG+ is far smoother in shifting. It’s also not that much tougher. Yes, you can jump on the body of the derailleur but what happens when you hit the cage? You’ll have to spend a lot of money to get a new one. Mine held up 2 months until the first defect and I’m not the only one complaining about the poor quality. I’m back to Shimano XTR.

      @LoveMTB  Год назад

      I have not (I know, hard to believe). The big test will be with my son, he's on Shimano now and he's very, very particular with how he likes his bike to work. So yeah, can't wait.

    • @Calfa2x
      @Calfa2x Год назад +1

      Well if you hit the cage in hard enough on both XTR or AXS, you will rip it apart.
      You can replace the whole cage for $150 on transmission, with XTR you will have to buy a new derailleur for $250-300.
      I think the transmission one would be more durable since it can pivot on itself.

    • @LoveMTB
      @LoveMTB  Год назад +1

      @@Calfa2x Good points. Still prefer the direct/ Full Mount of the T-Type, a hard bang on the XTR usually would mean a bent hanger also, can be a race/ ride ending incident. Might not be with the SRAM

    I could be wrong? But shouldn’t the portion with connect the t-type to the frame be replaceable as well? If you bend that isn’t it like you bent a hanger? My only guess is that the parallelogram on t-type ws designed to be sacrificial to break before the upper portion shaving you from bending it. Otherwise, replaceability doesn’t make a ton of sense. Regardless you can still bend the upper portion without messing with the parallelogram. Just gotta hope it really is as durable as they claim. This still seems like a first generation product. I’m going to wait a bit on this stuff. I haven’t even made it to 1x lol

    The biggest engineering problem with this design. Any impact is transferred directly into the frame. Hangers were sacrificial, they could absorb energy in a crash. Now the energy goes straight into the frame, and something needs to give

      Yeah that's what everyone was saying when it was released. It's been swept under the rug, and I've never seen a good explanation from SRAM or any of their retailers, addressing that very obvious flaw in detail. Maybe they're a good answer, I don't know, bite something HAS to absorb that impact, and I don't see how it can't be the frame. Or better question I guess, is if it's not the frame, then what is it??

    I'm saving up for the XX drivetrain. I think the T-Type is a game changer. And with all the abuse testers have shown on RUclips, I'm very impressed. I can genuinely understand where the naysayers are coming from but there is no way the average rider is going to ride it to the point of failure that testers have done.
    Yeah the price is steep but let's be honest...a lot of us have already spent tonnes on our bikes. It is afterall an expensive hobby and the drivetrain is the most worked component of the bike...might as well get the best there is. Also, let's be clear, there's nothing wrong with sticking to other types of drivetrains but if you can afford a T-Type, go for it.

I wonder if you can build a sramano drive train out of this one and does it let you multi shift?It seems they all list parts that you can't buy like shimano 12 sp small cogs for the cassette...I see sram has a dummy battery option with a wire coming out that connects to your e-bike battery very cool!!! I just checked prices on this system and it's revolting to say the least. The thing many people do not think about is that your arms are tied when you commit to an ideology like this where everything is supposed to be so easy. It's marketing to make you believe you get something, to push your focus away from what they hide. What if you don't like it and want to change... That's going to cost a lot, and I'm sure most would just sit there and bite their lip in silence while they pay an arm and a leg for new overpriced components.
    The problem here is greed. No way in hell are these components worth the asking price. It's a f'ing transmission set for a bicycle, not a car...

      Battery is a moot point. I’ve had AXS for over 2 years. Never had an issue with charging or forgetting to charge. One full charge keeps the bike running for more than a month, depending on how often you ride. Strange how haters always use the battery as their deterrent. If anything, the price should be the real deterrent. Lol

      A few decades ago many people said they would never buy a car with an automatic transmission since they were not as efficient.
      Now the automatic transmissions have become so good that they are more efficient than manual transmissions.
      In the near future electronic transmissions will be as widespread as dropper posts are now. Do you want to give up your dropper post because it is more complicated than a regular seat post?
