Congratulations! Being an uncle is so great. I have been an aunt for over 20 years now and it has been - and still is - amazing. Thanks for the great top ten!
Regarding Viticulture solo, I would like to say that I found the co-op expansion (Viticulture World) to have a wonderful solo mode that I enjoy leaps and bounds over the base game's solo mode. Highly recommend it.
I find it funny that this video went out because this week I went on a playing spree of anachrony solo....I think I played about 9 games and sometimes it was 3 games back to back. I must say, I don't have a lot of solo only games and most of the games i'll play solo are the big ones. Anachrony, tainted grail, etherfield, mage knight, too many bones, cloudspire, Bloodborne the board game, Arkham horror the card game, 7th continent, and strangely, super skill pinpall 4 cade. These are probably my top 10.
Thanks for sharing! One of my fav solo games is Warp's Edge, which only plays solo. It has a relatively small table presence and box, has a quick setup/take down, plays quickly, has simple rules, thinky decisions, and is fun. I don't hear much about it. I think it stays under the gaming radar. Another solo fav is Marvel Champions: LCG. It's also one of my Top Ten coop games. I like deck builders a lot, which MC:LCG is. I really like the huge variety considering all the heroes and villains and scenarios.
Congratulations. I hope the family continues to grow. I play a few of these games myself. I play solo more than any other count. So a good solo is almost a requirement for me when getting a new board game. Thanks, Nick. Keep on rollin'.
Doin solo solo. I know the feeling. I need to table Wingspan, it’s been a while. I still love Everdell solo. Paleo is great. Robinson Crusoe solo, so harsh and so good. Some footprint games: Coffee Roaster, Maquis, and Aerion. My local game cafe has Feast for Odin so I’ll be giving that a go soon!
1stly congrats so much on the new little one, so amazing! 2ndly, I know you mention this at the end of the video, but I feel there are so many games that are designed to be "solo games" that they are their own category now, and this video is more of a list of your favorite games with a solo mode, not a top ten solo game list. No worries, but I do hope you got Under Falling Skies played already, and I hope you can try Warp's Edge and even some of the Button Shy games that are designed more for solo play soon.
My top 10 Solo games. In no particular order. 1. Dwellings of Eldervale 2. Spirit Island 3. Circadians First light 4. Too Many Bones 5. Kanban EV 6. Underwater Cities 7. Marvel Champions 8. The Reckoners 9. Roll player 10. Raiders of Scythia
Thanks Nick,...Awesome Solo list 👍 I've been struggling either buy Ex Libris or not,.. but I guess because this is your top solo game... I'm gonna try it 😊 Anyway my personal solo : 1. Great Western Trail (2nd Edition) 2. Raiders of Scythia 3. Paladins of the West Kingdom (with City of Crowns) 4. Horrified : American Monsters 5. Red Rising 6. Final Girl
Thanks. Agricola has a nice Solo mode because it does not force you to block worker placement spots. Actually, every game is just way more fun without blocking. I wish game designer would stop implementing that, because it is essential only an implementation of negative player interaction. I like rather positive interaction.
thanks so much for doing this, i've lost interest in video games over the last 6 months and have just had solo games running on a big old desk of mine its been great to get back into the hobby, theres a couple of games here i might add to the collection
I guess it makes sense to review solo games......solo. This was a fun list and there were a couple other games you mention toward the end that I would have considered. Under Falling Skies was the most notable. Some that I thought were missing: Paladins of the West Kingdom (great automa for a fairly complex game); Mage Knight (not my favorite, but it gets a lot of good vibes); Halls of Hegra (easily the solo hotness of 2023) ; Robinson Crusoe: Adventures on Cursed Island (wow! talk about dying alone on a deserted island); Marvel Champions (would your bro have left this off...I don't know...). Great job!
I really don't have a top 10 list for solo in my head, but for top 3 its easily Spirit Island, Mage Knight, and Ark Nova. I can't imagine these three ever not being on a top solo games list. Legendary would also likely make my top 10 but I never count "dual handed" as solo mode for any game ... as that is quite literally just multiplayer ... playing both (or more) hands in a game doesn't make it a solo game it just means you played it solo. Big difference IMO.
Have you tried Nusfjord solo mode? I like it because it is a quick set up with a lot of variability (5 different decks). As in FfO, you’re playing two colors, placing one color on alternate rounds and blocking your other color. The play is quick and scratches that Rosenberg itch without involving a lot of time.
not sure if you have considered or played those games, but some great truly solo games are not on this list - Friday, Aeon End, Spirit Island, Lotr LCG or Arham of Horror. and more heavy game which i havent played as at this stage have no time but seems amazing Mage Knight. thanks for the video though, always good to explore new titles.
What is the music that plays between each pick? Sounds kind of like Radiohead’s Everything in Its Right Place. It isn’t that, but sounds like it. What’s the name & artist of the song?
I just lik when Onirim gets some love. Really simple game but sometimes you just want to play something fast, simple and fun and Onirim is that for me right now, the app is great since it resolves the shuffling issue many people may have :) Ex Libris I really want to try it. My favorite solo has been WH40k: Space Hulk: Death Angel: The Card game for a while now. I just find it so good to be honest. It should get reprinted/rethemed like Ghost Stories did.
I just finished playing a solo game of Viticulture with Tuscany and I love it, but IT IS SO HARD. Not in terms of mechanics, but in terms of strategy. I'm not sure how to get to 25 in 7 turns. I got 18 and I felt like I did so much! I can't wait to keep playing it and figuring it out. I've only played it solo and I haven't won once. It's easier for me to win Spirit Island solo than Viticulture 😂
Try Nusjford solo. Feels like a big euro but it plays in like 20 minutes. My favorite Uwe solo game because of that reason. Hallertau solo is amazing as well for the same reason. Meaty euro feeling that plays in 35 minutes solo
I knew that you really liked the solo for it, so I was wondering if Ex Libris was going to be on the list. It's also my favorite solo game, and my favorite type of solo game.
Everdell and Castles of Burgundy is fantastic solo! Love wingspan and viticulture as well. I’ve been wanting to try Ex Libris, Tenpenny Parks, Honey Buzz, Suburbia, and Flamecraft if I can find copies this year.
I've been playing Roll Player solo and it's fantastic! I would like to find more games that can be played solo, but I didn't really connect with anything in the video. Thank you anyway.
Great list, I own and play a bunch of these games solo too! In particular Ark Nova, Wingspan, Legendary Marvel, and Ex Libris are all games I take out to play solo kind of regularly, especially Legendary, that game is fantastic solo. 😄 (Great to see someone giving a shout out to Ex Libris, hardly anybody else ever seems to mention that one!) I like the original Terraforming Mars solo but have never played the new card game version, and also ever since the computer version of Terraforming Mars came out I just play that against the AI over playing the physical copy solo. I own the Networks and like it well enough, for some reason never really got into playing it solo though, go figure. 🤷♂ Onirim is a fun solo game for sure, haven't played it in a while though. One game you didn't mention that I absolutely love playing solo is Pursuit of Happiness, which if someone reading this hasn't heard of it is basically a gamer version of The Game of Life. It's such a cool game solo or otherwise since every session evolves into a different story in your head of the life of this person you're playing getting a job (maybe), making a family (maybe), buying stuff and going on trips and things, and so on. Such a solid game both solo and multiplayer, I always have a really fun time with it.
great list! I love Uwe’s games solo - Nusfjord has a great solo too. YES Orleans solo scenarios are so much fun!! others that I love: Obsession, Raiders of Scythia, the Search for Planet X, Root, PARKS, Squire for Hire, the Draugr :) ones I’ve made up my own solo for: Near and Far and Pret-a-Porter
Thanks for the video, cool selection :) i do also enjoy a lot Fields of Arle from Uwe rosenberg..just awesome. Troyes dice and lorenzo il magnifico Masters of Rennaisance are also great ones!
This is such a good list!! 👍🏻👍🏻 Not gonna lie the Brothers Murph guided me in my solo journey. I like a lot of the same games they do. Roll and Writes have crept up there for me recently. Under Falling Skies is pretty good but not my top 10. Roll Player is high on my list.
Thanks, great list! 😀👍 I have tried some of them, but some of them I haven’t even played multiplayer. I’ve really wanted to try Ex Libris, I should hunt it down! Some games that I enjoy the most are probably A Feast For Odin, Wild: Serengeti, Glen More II, The Gallerist and Lost Ruins, but I kind of enjoy the solo modes in all the games that I own. 😅 Funnily enough I often prefer the beat your own score versions so that is sometimes what I do even when it’s not the official variant. 😀
Wait till the first time you hear your name or title (dad, uncle etc) being pronounced so wrong it would make you cringe EXEPT it's from a 6-12 months old child looking at you with a big smile.....I dont care who you are, your heary WILL just melt.❤ congratulations to the four of you.
Nice List! Here is mine...
10. Ark Nova
9. Dwellings of Eldervale
8. Elder Sign
7. Fields of Arle
6. Keep the Heroes Out!
5. Massive Darkness 2
4. Meadow
3. Warp's Edge
2. Obsession
1. Marvel United
Congratulations! Being an uncle is so great. I have been an aunt for over 20 years now and it has been - and still is - amazing.
Thanks for the great top ten!
Congrats on the addition to the family! Hope everyone is doing well.
Regarding Viticulture solo, I would like to say that I found the co-op expansion (Viticulture World) to have a wonderful solo mode that I enjoy leaps and bounds over the base game's solo mode. Highly recommend it.

So far, my favorite solo game has been Everdell! I've played it so much, I went ahead and sleeved it even though I've almost only played it solo.
Thanks for sharing!

C) Thanks for the videos and suggestions… def want to try Feast solo now.

A solo only game you've GOTTA try: Maquis!
My top 10 Solo games. In no particular order.

3. Circadians First light
4. Too Many Bones
5. Kanban EV

I love Onirim. Can't stop playing it on my phone.
I'd also love to get Ark nova just for the solo mode.
Have you tried Nusfjord solo mode? I like it because it is a quick set up with a lot of variability (5 different decks). A top ten list of Solo Board Games without Mage Knight (Ultimate Edition) ? Preposterous!
That's because they have never played it.
@@SoloClub123 its like you list up the greatest composers of all time and exclude Beethoven
What is the music that plays between each pick? Sounds kind of like Radiohead’s Everything in Its Right Place. It isn’t that, but sounds like it. What’s the name & artist of the song?
Congratulations! ;-) Regarding Ark Nova, I do prefer the inoficial ARNO Automa to play solo, which feels more like a regular game against an opponent.
I just lik when Onirim gets some love. Really simple game but sometimes you just want to play something fast, simple and fun and Onirim is that for me right now, the app is great since it resolves the shuffling issue many people may have :)
Ex Libris I really want to try it.
My favorite solo has been WH40k: Space Hulk: Death Angel: The Card game for a while now. I just find it so good to be honest. It should get reprinted/rethemed like Ghost Stories did.
I like playing Ex Libris multi-player, because it's one of the very few games I can consistently beat Missy at!
I really like the "Capital Vierzon" scenario in Orléans.
Congrats on the new family addition. Hope mother and baby doing well

#1 for me is Ragemore by Button Shy Games. It's always with me.
I knew that you really liked the solo for it, so I was wondering if Ex Libris was going to be on the list. It's also my favorite solo game, and my favorite type of solo game.
good video ill look into some of them. My top three solo games; cloudage, sleeping gods and dinosaur island rawr and write.
Everdell and Castles of Burgundy is fantastic solo! Love wingspan and viticulture as well. I’ve been wanting to try Ex Libris, Tenpenny Parks, Honey Buzz, Suburbia, and Flamecraft if I can find copies this year.
I NEED to find a copy of Ex Libris! 😍👏🏻
Nick it is ok to be a Solo Bro.
Or is he a S.Murph?
But I thought antifa works in groups?
I've been playing Roll Player solo and it's fantastic! I would like to find more games that can be played solo, but I didn't really connect with anything in the video. Thank you anyway.
Congratulations to the uncle! And welcome to the new buddy.

YOU ARE BOTH AWESOME! ❤❤❤
CONGRATS ON THE NEW BABY!!!!
Nemo’ War is fun
Lost Ruins of Arnak and Everdell are pretty fun solo
Congratulations! Wish you and your family all the best!
Falling Skies is great!
'Bargain Basement Bathysphere' (print and play) is also very good!
Congrats Mike!
Thanks for the video, cool selection :) i do also enjoy a lot Fields of Arle from Uwe rosenberg..just awesome. Troyes dice and lorenzo il magnifico Masters of Rennaisance are also great ones!
Great music!
Onirim is amazing
Congrats to baby. So wonderful.

Congrats Mike! Is this video delayed or is this baby #2?!
Lol this video was delayed
Urrmmm, your number 1 pick is going for $250 on the Amazons. But I did find a copy for the low, low price of $100. Ouch.
Sierra West deserves a place on this list. Great game, works best solo.

Haha, that never happens irl.
Really? When War of the Ring is right there?
