It's got a craptastic 5 speed! The button on the shifter is for the 2 speed rear axle. The buttons on the left. Spicer is for the PTO on the transmission and the other one was likely for the hydraulic hoist that the PTO operated. The oil all over the top of the engine is from the oil bath air cleaner spewing everywhere!

Hell yeah! I had a IH Scout II with the 345, unstoppable motor. Tore up 2 transmissions and 3 rearends with so much torque. 10 mpg rain or shine, uphill towing or cruising. Never got stuck 4 wheeling, even when the rear diff broke; stuck it in 4x and drove home on the front diff. Thanks for the memory jog. I was abusive to it, but we all called it "The Beast". Down in Baja Mexico they called it "La Bestia."
Yeah buddy, buying sight unseen is a gamble. Can't wait to see the progress. If it's coming from puddin, I already know it's gonna be a goodin!! Awesome work!
I have a International CO1800 to restore, it is a very rare RHD built/assembled here in the UK in the early 1960s. It was one of only about five pre-production models, but for whatever reason the cabover never made it into full production. International were already building the RHD conventional model here that looked like yours and a few survive in preservation. They were all fitted with Perkins 6-354 diesel engines. David in the U.K.
It's refreshing to see someone bring em back to life, instead of beating the living hell out of one,not mentioning no names,W.D., I hate he got you like that, can't wait to see what you do with her, I'll be watching.
Hey, I just found your channel and I'm liking it! If nobody's told you yet I might be able to shed some light on the knobs and levers for ya'. The Spicer knob is to engage the PTO. Form the looks of the unit on the trans it might be a forward-neutral-reverse box for a winch, but I couldn't see it very well. The knob next to it is likely a hand throttle. The red knob on the shifter is the rear-axle splitter. You start in 1st with the knob down, let up on the throttle and pull it up to "split" the gear, shift to second and push it down at the same time. So you get 1-lo, 1-hi, 2-lo, 2-hi etc. Hope that makes sense! By the way, I watched the second video about this truck first. I laughed my a** off seeing you driving it!
You are a pretty funny dude. Been subscribed since quarentine car show last year. That fender will buff out. And the hood too. Wasnt me. It was good when dropped off. Keep up the great entertainment.
As your fellow C-900 Owner/subscriber, this is pretty much inside my wheelhouse. 5 speed tranny with electric 2 speed rear end, power brake booster under the cab. Love these old Binders! I'll be watching to see what you do with it.
I’ve got a 1976 International Loadstar 1850 Detroit Diesel Firetruck. That cab looks mostly rust free. Mine is rusted out, they tend to rust out in the cowl area. That one looks solid. Well as I was typing this you said the same thing. I’ve been on the lookout for a rust free cab, no luck so far.
Hell yeah, it's an IH Loadstar...one of my favs! Especially with that front end. I remember riding to school in the 2nd grade in a Loadstar 6000 bus. (i believe it was a 6000, that was a while back) and the I remember that distinctive transmission gear noise (if you've heard it, you know what I'm talkin about) This is gonna be an awesome build! Also, the dome light was intact....gotta love that!
Awesome rig can’t wait to see it done 👍🏻 I’m putting together a 65 Chevy 2 ton pickup . Love seeing these big old trucks put back to work and the shirt idea is great sign me up for one .
im a bicycle guy....the colour you love in bicycle land is Bianchi celeste.....Bianchi is an old school itialian brand....still racing today in the pro tour(Tour de France and such)
I built one of these about a year ago. The farmer pulled the body with NO intentions of saving it AND did a better job of not tearing it up than they did! The worst he did was dented the roof and door tops a little from the chain he used to pull the cab and he got a little slag on the pass window from his torch. Again, the farmer i bought it from had NO intention of saving it and if I could've caught him a day earlier I could've prevented it. He only wanted the bed and rear frame to use as a grain trailer. I ended up with the body and drivetrain. I saved the drivetrain as a spare for a Loadstar we still use. Now for your truck... The 1600 was the smallest and most had 345s and 4 or 5 speed transmissions depending on the year. There were a few automatics even back then though. The Spicer knobs are to engage pto and the tank under floor board is the brake booster and cost about $250 for a remanufactured one...so don't discard it! I'm sure there's an old farmer still running a fleet of these that would love to have it (speaking from experience). Power steering is another item that's worth a little money if it was equipped with it. About half were not. You might be able to recoup a little and get your overall price down especially if you're from a farming town like I am. Just about every farm around me has at least one.
I know where 10 are within 5 minutes of my house just sitting! A couple are nice! Only issue is they are all red or white! Iven seen so many red and white I’ve refused to build one lol not many are still used for work tho around here
My suggestion would be to set the cab and front clip over on an old school bus chassis. This will allow you to use modern engines, modern brakes, modern suspension and you can put whatever bed you want to on the back.
G'DAY PUDDIN,now I'm an appreciators of International trucks, especially C series, but a load master is a new one to me, maybe they were all ordered and sold in the US, regardless dad purchased in 1976 a new C 1840, prime mover (SEMI), with the V8 382 cubic inch engine, came with a Holley 850 double pumper,4 barrel, which I learnt my disdain for Holley carburettor, the old girl would haul arse, all day at 75_80 MPHR,full or empty 8 MPGallon,we used it primarily for hauling cotton, with 8' high gates on 40' trailer,it was a 5 speed international gearbox, with a 2 speed splitter!pulled awesome burnouts on the bitumen, with both duals smoking,as always, Kindest Regards Dave McLaughlin Queensland Australia
what you called a tank is vacuum booster for the brakes, 4 speed tranny with electric split shifter switch mounted on the shifter. Making it 8 speeds forward 2 speeds in reverse. Either 345 or 392 V8 if you can get a 4 barrel carb setup for that thing it really changes the power drastically.
There was a couple of years during the run of the Loadstar that International was number 1 in sales of school bus chassis. The woods used to be full of them. Friend of mine has 2 he uses for storage. A good cab may be hard to find, but should be able to find decent front end pieces.
Done the same, got burned as well. The 67 Chevy C30 I bought was supposed to have a 292 that turned over, it was locked up beyond repair. The rear axle was completely locked up in the brakes. Back of the cab beat to hell. A lot of stuff he could have mentioned, but didn't. Oh well, live and learn. Yours will work out fine, you are in cheap enough for sure. Please do a "Will it run?" before you tear it apart.
2 wheel no wheel drive!! Love it. I'll round house a mouse - I'll round house a mouse in his little house - Puddins Fab Shop I am... Love the Shirt Idea.
My friend had a 66 Chevelle SS that significant damage in shipping. The driver denied anything happened. But the seller took pictures before it was loaded and was able to get a settlement with the shipping company. Good Luck
My guess is the cowl is in such good shape because it was probably a grain hauler that was stored in a shed or barn since it has a pto and someone that couldn't get it running because they probably didn't know what they were doing did what alot of people do that kills me and cut it into and made a dump trailer out of the back half. Seen it happen up the road from me to a mint truck that was perfect because they couldn't get it running and just buzzed it off and made a dump trailer what a shame. Anyway kuddos to you for saving it, I just wish you could have gotten the rest of it.
I can’t blame you for going off ! Who ever messed it up just added about 50 hours of work to get it right ! Old school buses ( IH ) use the same fenders and hood and there’s a ton of them around ! Lol. I’m sure that’s not a 13 speed but more like a 5 with a split rearend or possibly a 10 speed . That red button is a splitter so it turns a 5 into a 10 .
look at the throttle spring bracket on the thermostat housing it sometimes has the C.I.D. stamped into it and also under the valve cover my 345 has the engine size cast into the head.
The Chris Brown comment had me rolling. Also opening the glove box of an abandoned vehicle is like opening the refrigerator of a foreclosed house. Hope you can bend and weld back to the way it should be my guy 👊🍻
There’s plenty of great people left! If you see anyone calling me a baby for whining well you can identify the people who thinks being shady is fine. Which probably tells the story on them.

I bought a 1600 load star dump truck at a estate sale. They had a attempted to get it running on old stale gas in the tank. and failed. I bought it for $250. I changed the carb &used a remote tank and electric fuel pump and got it running and drove it 30 miles home. Little 304 engine pulls Ok and it dont guzzle fuel. We still have it. It does have that cowl rust out you mentioned. Ive bought three on the internet without looking at them in person. Not my best deals. Pictures can be taken to not show the defects ect. Im a big boy and can take my licks so i just chalk it up to the cost of education by the school of hard knocks and vow to not do that no more times.
Just started work on my 1977 Loadstar 1700 project had a similar situation with the first one I bought and ended up buying another and making the first one a parts truck.

@@tracktorred7570 I'm more thinking the transporter could have been in the clear. That's really it. He may not. But you can't call people out without proof unless you want to get sued. lol
I think its awesome, can't wait to see you build it

@@PuddinsFabShop our stuff in the UK is just not quite the same. Awesome content and funny too.👍
I bought a 1600 load star dump truck at a estate sale.
Yes sir. I’m still happy with it.
Love the videos bud love the commercials you do lol
I’ll do one on it!
Looking forward to this build!
Me too!
Shame they beat on your new truck, not a bad cab to start with rust is minimal, nice patina on that blue paint.
She’ll come back to life
Just started work on my 1977 Loadstar 1700 project had a similar situation with the first one I bought and ended up buying another and making the first one a parts truck.
The color on this ones so good I’m gonna run with it!
@@PuddinsFabShop that one thing I like about these old internationals, they are pretty easy to repair cause it’s actually metal! Lol
Sight unseen nope live and learn. Drove them old corn binders for several years. Glad you're only going to use the body. Find a fender in forget about it
She’ll be fixed!
Can't wait to see this build
That is a slick looking ride
I think so too!
How disappointing. Lucky you have the skills to fix the metal issues. Can’t wait to watch this build.
Yes sir!
Will Definitely be a awsome build. A buddy and me were pulling a square body from the woods in VA and snake was on the dash Lol my buddy almost shit his pants I couldn't stop laughing he was so mad!!!
That’s a no go for me!
@@PuddinsFabShop i grew around exotic animals so they don't bother me but he thought it was a zombie apocalypse Lol
Can’t wait to see this build start up
It would look badass to weld that Loadstar cab onto the front of that trailer frame, bolt up dual axles and have a killer car hauler.
Not my cup of tea!
Looking forward to this build son..
Me too!
