I bought a 67 Chev 1/2 ton pickup new off the dealer in Anchorage Alaska when stationed there with the Army, 68 to 71. It was a leftover so got a good deal at $2200 dollars new with 283 and 3 speed on the column. Great old truck, drove it down the Alcan and kept it for several more years. Your vid brought back memories when I seen that same gauge cluster in the farm truck. Wrench on, guys.

I like watching your videos. Thank you Christian for all your work. I'm glad that you believe in God and salvation. I live in Texas and used to help my husband work on our cars and trucks so I know more about engines than a lot of women. I gave up our house in the country after he passed away and I live in the city now. Still enjoy watching you guys work on the cars!

If you want to get technical it's really a cab and chassis with a dump grain bed. I had a red one exactly like it I hauled lumber with. it was a great little truck. 292 Chevy is a very very reliable engine. Very powerful when they are well tuned.

I drove a 67 for many a years, it had a 20 foot box van on the chassis, and a Detroit 4 banger diesel and 10 speed road ranger, no power steering, it was really a truck in every sense of the word.

I just got a 72 C50 with a 350 SB running that had been sitting since 1993. New fuel line, fuel pump, plugs, plug wires, coil, distributor cap, points, and condenser. I pulled the driver side valve cover, turned the engine by hand until the #1 intake valve closed, turned it a little further until the top dead center mark aligned with the tang, poured a bit of gas in the carburetor, and started turning it over. I had the gap for the points wrong the first time. After the points were adjusted it fired right up & ran until the carburetor bowl was empty. The carb was full of varnish & the float needle was stuck. I’m waiting on a carburetor rebuild kit now.

It is a shame I did catch this live. The PTO has to be engaged with the clutch depressed. It works off the transmission. Via drive shaft to the hydraulic pump. Once it is engaged, then the lever for the bed comes into play.

I owned a Truck just like it, even same color. I hauled everything with it from Hay, Grain and even Logs and Brush. I even hauled Freight in it. That motor is a very strong motor for what you see. U had throw-out Bearing problems and Clutch problems more than anything. It used one quart of oil every thousand miles from when it was new all the way till I sold it at 74,000 + miles. I changed tires on it three times and wish I still had it. It was three times the Truck my V-8 Fords were at the same age.

I think its a 250 not a 292. The fuel pump is on the wrong side to be 292. Also, check the side covers, they prolly are 3 or 4 inches tall. The 292's is 5 or 5.5 inches tall. Its funny how everyone who owns a classic 250 calls it a 292. Kinda like every classic used chevy part for sale is listed as "corvette"

Should be a plug at the shaft end of the hydraulic cylinder. Take out the plug and fill cylinder with hydraulic fluid until it start running out the plug hole and it should be full. The cylinder should be the reservoir tank for the system. I'd be careful lifting that bed with it bent like it is. If you lift it too high it might try to turn the truck over on it's side if it offsets the weight to much. Be careful but remember to have fun.

BRAKES: If you will bleed all the old fluid from the system then flush with denatured alcohol and bleed it all out, let it set with all bleeders open while you work on the engine. Fill the system with new fluid, bleed the system, and most likely you will have very good brakes.

Boy, I'm thinking either a pin in the scissor mechanism backed out on one side and bound up the bed or that thing tipped over partially somehow and tweaked it all up. I like those old Chevy's too. I didn't know those Chevy's from that era still had the vacuum shift. I think everyone else had already gone to the Eaton 2 speed electric shift. Dad had a 1966 International Loadstar 1600 with an electric 2 speed axle. Good luck with it.
