OMG! I had already laughed so much watching this, but then 27:34 almost took me out. I literally almost fainted from laughter. I’m not exaggerating. I was actually dizzy. I thought I was the only one that could manage get hurt doing something so seemingly safe as a shifter installation. 😂 Of course it’s not ever funny getting hurt, but man, I so identify with your challenges. I really really feel your pain. 😂
Man you do realize those jack stands go up higher right😂😂, i see so many people scramble and fight under cars and jack stands are all the way down. If my car goes on stands they are nearly all the way up, 4x6 or 6x6 on the jack is a home remedy on top of your jack to make it go up higher to get the room you need. If you cant get that last little bit (pilot bushing/bearing) put the bolts in snug and bump the motor over with the clutch pedal down, it will fall right in normally. Dude when that shifter hit you in the chin and that “aaaaaahhhh shiiit” came out, i died laughing. That warranted some cuss words hoss, i know i would have😂
Use a couple of boards suspended with rope or small chains from car to hold up trans. Also use your jack and slide it in. I've done this in my 91 f250 4x4, 4sp. granny trans. w/ transfor case now that's heavy as hell. Grab the board on one end to lever it up and down, good luck!
That box is going to need a flush at the very least,so atf/diesel in it.Then run it up on jackstands thru the gears, then drop that oil/sludge/rust goulash.Did you lube up that pilot bearing and the trans shaft?
Buy long bolts cut the heads off and you have guides to hold and slide the tranny into place. Have your clutch mechanism connected and when the tranny is close you have someone press the clutch petal and the tranny falls into place. I watch you and I relive my youth struggling just like you are now. It took me 40 years but eventually got a 2 post. Youll get there.

This brings back many memories, I was doing the same thing 50 years ago, and I thought these cars were old then!!

You should be able to register the car in Maine even if you don’t live there, and get a title
