  • Over the past few months I have acquired some hard to find and rare car parts. I drove 3.5 hours taking a risk for a K code mustang Hi-PO block which was verified to be a true Factory K engine!! WIN!! I also found a Ford Top Loader 4 speed in a junk yard!! AND an Australian BOSS intake manifold for a 5.4 liter 32 valve ford V8! Very fortunate to have acquired these parts I've been dreaming about! Now to fix them up and install them. Stay tuned

    The 260 refers to the power output in Kw

  • @alexbertrand780
    @alexbertrand780 5 месяцев назад +5

    It was a boss 260 because it had 260kW of power. The 290 boss had 290kW of power.
    They stopped making the Aussie falcons in 2016. We don’t make cars in Australia anymore 😢 only imports.

    Man you go ahead and make a 3/16” aluminum top cover for the 4spd, ive made a lot of them from buying drops at our local metal supply for $5-10 for a 12”x24” piece of aluminum and enough to make 4-5 of them and sell to recover your cost plus make some extra change

    In Australia toilets work backwards so maybe intakes are put on backwards too

    That white chalky stuff looks like aluminum corrosion (oxidation) if that storm had a lot of humidity. Clearcoat your aluminum parts after you clean them next time and it won’t happen again. Come to the BC Canada coast and every uncoated piece of aluminum looks like that

  • @davidgibbons693
    @davidgibbons693 5 месяцев назад +1

    The powder on the F100 engine is aluminium oxide, created when water gets on the raw aluminium. Which is why most raw aluminium parts are clear coated.

    I have a 2013 Falcon 4.0 DOHC I6 Barra/6spd auto for my 65 F100 and a 2010 50th anniversary Falcon gauge cluster that nearly a drop in for the truck, had a guy make a module to convert all the gauges, speedo from KMH and *C to mph and *F. I have a 2015 S550 IRS and 2010 CV front suspension and i fully plan on using it to pull my car on my 20’ trailer wherever i want to take it so all you need is air ride on back to tow with it. That Boss 260 was the KW rating 260kw is nearly 350HP same with the boss 290 basically 390HP

  • @Craig_Simpson
    @Craig_Simpson 5 месяцев назад +1

    it stands for 260Kw. Although they would understate the power to keep the government happy. They apparently made closer to 290kw (390hp)

    Also something i noticed, your talking about getting the top plate on the intake redone to face the correct way, as an Aussie i can tell that the entire top plenum is actually facing the wrong way. The higher part should be towards the fire wall and the lower slopping part to the front. I can't recall if its possible or not, but you quite literally need to flip the top lid. The throttle opening needs to face to your drivers side.

    Ford Australia is no longer around, the boss 5.4 was used in the ford falcon BA and BF model the later and last models of ford falcon started using the coyote 5.0 which were in the FG and FGX, FGX was the last of the falcon’s production finished 2015 or 2016, ford Australia is/was only 2 minute drive from my workshop, a lot of the factory have been pulled down to make way for new Factories. Back to topic the Boss 260 and 290 meant the how much kw the engine produced.

  • @justin3131ify
    @justin3131ify 5 месяцев назад

    And you do not need the top plate remade because Boss 260 is not a model of car, it's an engine type. So no car with this engine was ever called a boss 260. Instead they were called the
    :Ford Falcon BA XR8 (fitted with the Boss 260)
    Or the
    BA FPV GT/GT-P (fitted with the boss 290) etc etc
    Something you may also not be aware of is that there is also a Boss 302 model of this engine as fitted to some mk2 BF FPV GT/GT-P's and the FG Ford Falcon XR8's and finally we also had a final iteration of the 5.4 boss engine in the form of the Boss 315 fitted to early models of the FG FPV GT/GT-P's hope this all helps.

    I was just scrolling the turbe when my eye spotted an Aussie made part lurking in the corner of what looked to be an American video. So been the simple person I am I click! I wont bother with explaining the finer details of your confusion with our Aussie engine power figures I can already see others that have jumped to it. Do you reckon there could be a market in America for the Aussie intakes? Rather enjoyed watching that cheers.

    Since you're making a bunch of Frankenstein cars anyway, why use those gutless 289's?, I just don't get-it,🙄, "Just wipe the sand off", I'm sure none made its way down any of those huge intake ports,🤭, most people would've had shop-towels blocking off those holes,🤨, what ever happened with the two-stroke boat engines?, that was a crazy idea anyway, but thanks for sharing.
