Hey Dr. DRG, greetings from Glasgow, Scotland. Great video again, thank you. I’m currently building a strat lookalike of yours. A Squier silver anniversary body & neck but with a Fender Vintera loaded pickguard. It has a great feeling neck so I’m upgrading to a Wilkinson bridge, fender string trees and a bone nut. Can’t wait to try it with some of your MG-30 patches. Keep up the good work.
Thanks man! I'm a stratman so I'm suspicious of any compliments haha Pay attention to the pickups, resistance around 5.5k to 6k guarantees traditional strat tones. Above that, a medium frequency begins to emerge for a kind of Hot Strat. Personally, I prefer to stay between 5.5k and 6k resistance. :)
The Area 58 that I used in this video, on the strat's neck, has Resistance: 6.15Kohm. So I need to keep it away from the strings, with a low setting, so that it sounds "vintage" (how I like it). If I tighten the screws and bring it closer to the strings, it sounds different.
@@DirectRecordingGuitar The Vintera pickups are 5.5k in the neck and 5.95k each for the other two so should be good. Just got a Sire T7 too and it’s fantastic. I almost sound like a guitarist, except for when I play😂

how can i know the version of my nux mg 30 v5 ??
When we turn on the MG-30, the firmware version appears on the display just below the Nux logo. It only takes a few fractions of a second, so it's pretty quick.

When I use the switch to engage the freeze, the freeze guitar sound gets very loud. Any ideas?
Yes, you must be pressing too hard. The force with which we press CTRL determines the volume of the Freeze. Press more lightly and find out how to control this volume. Thanks for your comment bro!

@@DirectRecordingGuitar I just tried it today in church. If I don't step on it hard enough, the freeze won't work and the orange light won't come on. When I step on it and the light comes on, the freeze is so loud that it overwhelms the rest of the instruments. I have to step off it, back on it and repeat until it is at a volume that's doable. :(
You need to practice this before using it live. By repeating every day, you'll easily master it. It's like driving a vehicle; in the first attempts, there is no 'procedural memory' or 'motor memory,' which is the ability to perform motor tasks automatically after repetition and practice. I had to practice a lot before recording the video.

I think the morning glory is a bit of a bad model, almost doesn't provide gain at all (unlike the real one) and if you increase the gain it becomes muddy
Hi, I always use it for low gain, as I did in the video. That way I think it's great. I use the Crunch Box simulator, which like the Morning Glory (derived from the Marshall Bluesbreaker), is also a Marshall in a Box, for mid/high gain sounds. In fact, I think the real Crunch Box is one of the best MIB pedals. I will do an MG30 Crunch Box sim vs CB real pedal soon. For now I have the MG30 CB vs JHS Angry Charlie v3 (MIB too) on my old playlist. Thanks for commenting bro! :)
Yes true, I understand that it's good for lower gain tones but I'm a bit annoyed that it doesn't resamble the behaviour of the real pedal. And so true, Crunch Box is amazing. Keep up the good work ;)
