Dude. I had a PRS SE Mark Holcomb at my local music shop,Long and Mcquade for an awesome deal, because of the happenings in the world I didn't think it would have sold yet. The stores are closed to the public. So I called yesterday and it's sold 😷🥺😭
Agufish At one point I owned an American standard satin 22 and it was hands down the best guitar I ever owned. Unfortunately money got tight and I ended up selling it. I swear to god it felt like I just broke up with the girl of my dreams. Prs guitars are that good.
Very refreshing to see a PRS review done with some metal tones, I’ve been wanting to buy one but literally every single review is done with a clean blues tone
I just received my SE 245 last week. The fret ends are baby butt smooth right out of the box and it's a joy to play. Definitely will buy a higher end model later.
I been interested in learning the guitar, after hours of researching everything there is to know, I stumbled upon this video and I honestly feel I have a calling to really give this a try ! This is the exact sound I want to play and I’m so excited to keep learning and have a passion for this instrument ✨
I've got an S2 singlecut standard satin whatever the heck and it's the best guitar I've ever owned and I love it to death. Simple, mean, awesome, and man does that neck feel wonderful. One of those guitars you pick up and feel inspired every time. At least for me
I bought this exact same guitar shortly after watching your video. It plays as good or better the my PRS Custom 24. The neck is obviously bigger on the S2 but so nice to play. Incredible guitar!
Hi Agufish, it's always a real pleasure to watch your videos, a great moment, i feel like i am on holiday, especialy in this period when i stay home for working or week-end due to that virus confinment. You are one of the channel i like ( and love) the most, and i learn a lot of great things through your tests. Thanks for all the great testings that you do, continue, you are GREAT ! Best Regards, JM from France.
I own three S2's .. two Singlecut's and a Custom 24...each are outstanding fit and finish. I also own Core and SE models....the pickups in the S2 are down right awesome
Hunter! Thank you for demo-ing the middle setting with both pickups on! So many channels flat out ignore that setting and all of the tone possibilities! I love to cut the volume of the neck pickup just a hair, then darken the bridge pickup tone just a hair. Thanks again!
Love the purple finish and the build quality is not surprising. I bought an SE Custom 22 in 2010 used. It is a great guitar and I still play it today. Took 9 years but in 2019 finally got a wood library SC594, I love it. Great video .
I recently bought this model in McCarty Sunburst,it's a killer guitar, the tone and variation of tones are superb,it's a chunkier type neck but the playability is very good and after owning 6 Les Paul's over a long time I can honestly say that this guitar is way ahead of Gibson LP's.
Hunter, I have 4 papers due and 7 literature assignments due all at the end of the month and you upload this? To a PRS FANBOY!?!? I'm not mad I'm just disappointed at your timing lmao
@@agufish I was gonna go this year and this was my first one 😤😤. Next year tho. I live in Maryland and have met PRS and he's such a great guy. Crazy but a genius, always wanting to push the guitar to its limits. I've gone to the factory and had a tour and it was magical.
That's THE tone! As follow up to your last video - I have Tremonti SE 2018. After having it for more than 1.5 years I would say that the 10" radius and smaller frets (compared to extra jumbo on my LP) makes the fretboard extremely comfortable. The 2-side trem they put on this model is really good - it stays in tune, it will not scratch your hand. The guitar came with perfect setup out of box and I didn't even change the strings for 3 months. Just playing over and over again. Honestly I still haven't changed anything on the setup. Next on the GAS list - SE Custom 22/24 (or Silversky SE if they make one soon)
In the last 6 months I bought an S2 Standard 22 Satin and then a Custom 22. I brought the Standard to a PLEK setup and after the PLEK machine's analysis the shop owner told me he didn't have to anything because the setup and the frets were already absolutely perfect. That says a lot. Oh, and my Custom 22 has the same whale blue finish and that annoying dust attraction problem... I bought a bottle of Fender's "Guitar Quick Clean" because of its anti-static attribute, and yes, that does help a little.
Good price point. $200 more expensive than a LP Studio $300 cheaper than a LP Classic I don’t particularly like the fretboard Rad or the flat top but that finish options and bridge/tailpiece hardware is mint!
@@brandoncarson3143 only had it for a day or so and its so much more than I hoped. I was worried the neck was too wide. The bridge pickup too weak, and that bridge was too twangy. The neck is perfect. Not shredder slim but not vintage baseball bat. The bridge pickup is adequate for now, though I will go with a higher output one later. And while the twang is certainly there, it isn't too pronounced. It does have the bonus effect of making heavy chugs pretty punchy. All in all I love it. My only gripe is the neck pick up, while beautiful sounding, is too mismatched with the bridge. Pretty noticeable volume drop from bridge to neck. Higher output bridge pickup may worsen that.
@@daveg4236 absolutely love it. Its simple but the quality is great and it resonates better than anything ive had so far. Never knew how much i would like p90s
Would you say these are closer to the SE range or high end US catalog? I've played both the new Tremonti and Zack Myers SE's, phenomenal. Wanting to pull the trigger on an S2 but wasn't sure the purpose of this line with the SE quality reputation. Great review. To me it seems like this would be an upgraded SE where the "some of all the parts/craftsmanship" come together perfectly, or is it a bare bones "high end?"
I’d probably swap out the pickups for taste, but the build and nitro finish make this feel far and away better than my Korean-made SE Tremonti (which is by no means a bad guitar). Upgrading an SE will get you a great guitar, but I’d still rather have an S2!
Buddy has the mccarty s2 purple burst quilt top and it is a 1 of 3 model. I get to play it every practice cause its his first guitar(he's our vocalist) but I I jealous everyone I pick it up. Other guitarist has a mccarty 10 top custom 24. The irony is I'm the lead guitarist and I play an se custom 24 in matteo blue with upgrades. Great video as usual!
I've been playing Epiphone Les Pauls live for a few years now, a Tribute Plus and an Inpired my 1955 Custom. I got a PRS S2 Singlecut in a couple of days ago and it has blown my mind with how effortlessly it plays. It's like an LP without any of the fight you get used to with more traditional appointments. The only thing I'm changing is the bridge pickup. Still love my Epi's though.
I am looking forward to trying an S2 again, it was a long time ago and I didn’t love it, or the SE range, but the newest SE (35th c24) is just great compared to that time when I didn’t like it much. So I bought it. I hope I can try this S2, and see how it feels. You did a really nice job with this video thanks!
Great video man. PRS, when it comes to guitars, is pure quality. I mean when you get to a point, where a lot of single cut fans, migrate to these guitars, there needs to be something done from the other guys. A lot of my buddies who love the LTD/ESP, Gibson, Epiphone single cuts, have acquired a PRS single cut, due to either the BS lawsuit stuff or the quality pulls them over to PRS.

Ive always loved the look of PRS guitars. I currently own a Fender Strat and I want a different type of guitar to go with it. I'm torn between one of these, a LP or a SG. Please help

Some say he once made an acoustic travel guitar djent before it flung itself into the campfire in a fit of holy shame. And all his Eppiphones, and his present girlfriend, sulked for a month when this PRS tart caught his eye. All we know is, he's called Der Fish!
It's the more you play it the more you don't give a crap about what color or what the quilt is. When a guitar is playing right and is as on point as every prs I've ever played you start look at poop brown like damn that looks cool.
I like the S2 series because I’m not so afraid of dings and doinks when I bring it to practice / gigs. And they sounds and play absolutely amazing! PRS is where it’s at! Edit: I believe the older S2’s used USA made pups (I’m pretty sure). The recent S2 I purchased was obviously a cheap ceramic pup which was mud city. Replaced both pups and it’s now my most played guitar for heavy tones. I even prefer it to my SG with EMG’s in it for metal. Crazy
PRS fanatics absolutely hate it when you put EMGs in a PRS lol. I'm not one of them (I don't even own a PRS rn), but they think it removes the tonal qualities from the wood and makes it sound the same as other guitars with EMGs. Probably overexaggerated at the very least, but still, just warning you.
The Korean electronics in these are a part of the pricing advantage over the Core line, but Paul is clearly willing to accept smaller margins here too. However, I think it's more accurate to call them US/Korea hybrids rather than American made.
They're still American made. They're assembled in Maryland. They just use more parts from overseas than other guitars. Almost all guitars use some parts from overseas since wood has to be exported. And other parts can come from other countries as well. So it still counts as American made.
Try the Santana Se gold I just received my yesterday Its beautiful unbelievable quality for the money It should be a core what a neck I love everything about it useing volume at different numbers setting it doesn't lode its character I love it
