Finally, I've been waiting for you to mention single cuts. If you like this you might like Gibson's Les Paul guitar. Heard it's somewhat popular. I've also heard that a company called like solar or something like that makes one.
My first guitar was a Hellraiser Solo-6 I got almost 8 years ago and that guitar is still a favorite to player. It was just so good and such a solid build from the start. always thought about getting another Schecter.
Dude, schecters one of the best company I just ordered one of these guitars in the black version made for 2023 these guys are going to be with me forever.❤️😎
I picked up the black satin Solo II after watching Darrell Braun's review; watch it if you can. Absolutely beautiful guitar and amazing value and quality.
Got myself a Hellraiser Solo-II. Best investment ever. I did a thorough shootout between the E-II Eclipse, EC-1000, Matt Heafy Epi, the old Les Paul Prophecy and Gibson. The Schecter just stood out. I‘m really, really happy with my purchase.
Ooo thank god. Ive been wanting to order this for ages but no store locally has one on the wall. And photos dont show the finish off that well. Glad you finally got your hands on one to film.
Wait a minute, I thought you had hundreds of thousands of subscribers... but I only saw 80k. (Still impressive!) You deserve WAAAAAY more subs! Keep it up!
That fucking guitar sounds phenomenal straight out of the box. Surprised the hell out of me. About 90% of my guitar purchases have been with Schecter (not through gear sponsorships). The bang for your buck is just untouchable. They're solid guitars that they just completely decked out with hot esthetics, great electronics, not to mention many of the models playability is just ridiculous (When compared to other guitars of similar price range) Picking one up you automatically feel the quality that just stands out. I really want that damn Banshee GT. Like who the hell has red pickups? Pure badassdom. What's missing from that there guitar you are holding is a mandatory Floyd Rose original.. Additionally, a Sustainiac would make this guitar a nice secret weapon. Props on giving a great, honest review. It's really cool that you don't just buy into every thing about the guitar and explain the things you dislike. This tells us that you're honest, and won't just won't be bought by some fancy bells and whistles.
I've been a Schecter believer since I first saw a C-1 Classic and Exotic and said "man, those are beautiful, I bet they play/sound terrible" and proceeded to have my mind blown and face melted as soon as I played them both. I bought one, then the other, and I've been a Schecter Collector ever since.
Schecter were my first proper electric after a cheap strat I bought from woolworths (UK). I’ve always liked their C shape neck compared to the epiphones Slim taper or LTDs Thin U. The schecter for some reason just feels “thicker” despite being a “metal shredder guitar” So I want to get my hands on the single cut soon as they make one that isn’t styled horribly,
I usually hate finishes on a guitar that are crazy like this....but it works on this one for some reason. I have the same opinion about the abalone inlays but man they pulled it off on this guitar with that finish somehow.
I will most likely buy this guitar because of this video despite it not being your full cup of tea. I think you gave enough great info that has sold me on the guitar. Now I just need to save up some money!!
Just a heads up, they DO NOT come with a hard case guys, you have to either pay extra to get it with it or just buy a single cut hard case separately. Still a solid deal when you consider that gibson and PRS are selling 2k guitars with gig bags
Maybe it is the finish that is off-putting with this guitar. The same guitar with a thin satin nitro finish would seem to be a step in the right direction while also possibly lowering production/sale price. From what I saw in this video I also liked the specs and overall look of the instrument, however that thick glossy finish is (for myself) makes it seem like all the other single-cut style guitars. Skip the burl and flamed veneers and go with an Ash top in place of maple and shoot it with a couple quick coats of satin nitro. Finishes for tops could be burst or translucent or whatever, just lose the thick poly finish.
you know there are guitars that have what you're asking for right? if you don't like it don't get it. guitarists are so entitled they think every guitar should be to their liking and any deviation is sacrilege. no progress should ever be made for the sake of a made up traditional style. get over yourself
@@CozyKG Dude, op was just commenting what he would have liked to see and personally I didn't interpret as being anything more than that or sounding rude while doing it. Though you are right about many guitarists being whiny cry babies when something they like is adjusted or changed to fit the times
Lucky you even got a case. I've order the exact same one in June and still haven't received it. Took me 4-5 months to get the guitar and now it looks like it's going to take as much for the case. Schecter seems to have a hard time with supply. Totally worth the wait though, love my Solo-II custom.
Hunter, I realize that this comment has little or nothing to do with your actual content, but I am the proud(!) owner of a 2003 Schecter C-1 Élite ... a rare bird made in its exact form for only one year. If you've checked out this model, you know that abalone all but DRIPS off these guitars! I thought (before I saw this one) that that much bling was not for me ... but when I saw this axe in one of my favorite privately-owned local musical instrument stores, I just said that soft, desire-laden, "Ohhh!" It was and is the most beautiful non-living thing I have ever seen! This axe is bound in abalone around the body, neck, AND headstock! It should have been an overdose for me, particularly since green is one of my LEAST-favorite colors, but I found and find it irresistable. It plays as good as it looks, even though I know that it's screaming for a fret job; the previous owner obviously loved and played the hell out of it. No wonder on my part. The guitar sounds even better! This axe is the main reason why Schecter Guitar Research is one of my main guitar companies. It's also the main reason why I knew, before watching your video, that the Solo-II Custom Burl you're reviewing is the bomb. Hell, if I had the money, I'd buy one and have the first singlecut I'VE owned in the 21st Century (I had a Gibson GK-55 in the 1980s that got stolen, and I replaced it a few times, but they've all been double-cuts.).😎❤️️🎸‼️
Been debating between this one and the ESP LTD EC 1000, the sizes and spec of the Schecter seems more appealing to me, the apocalypse design on it is seriously amazing.
man try the necks if you can. I bought a schecter CR6 beacuse of *the neck*. it kicked any other's guitars at the same price. I also had a EC1000 that decided to sell because that ThinU neck is not my thing, so im here in this video looking for alternatives and Gibson/Jackson/Shecter is winning man.
This has to be the best breakdown you have written. Also, would you ever consider reviewing/demoing the new Synyster Gates hardtail? Edit: Hey! You're back to doing awful segues into your sponsorships!
Hi Hunter! Hey, thanks for saying this neck profile is thinner than the EC-1000's. This was my foremost question regarding this guitar! I LOVE the fact it is thinner! So yeah, thanks for including that tidbit of info, bro! Also... the selector switch's middle position sounds really good to my ears for making clean tones. I'm seriously considering trading my Gibson SG for this Schecter, no matter which would hold its value better!
I love the weird top, very unique and different for a Schecter. I would definitely take the finish down to a satin to get the full vintage vibe of it. Most importantly they’re a real players guitar with a fast neck. It’s one of the only Les Paul style guitars I’ve played that sound good with the single coil split. The case is very disappointing, they should’ve went with a form fitting brown tolex case without the engraving.
Schecter makes some badass guitars. I have a beautiful purple quilt E1-FRS. Loaded with stainless steel, Floyd 1000, ebony fretboard, real MOP inlays, a screaming apocalypse bridge pickup and a Sustainiac in the neck. Full carbon fiber binding. It’s absolutely insane. And plays like microwaved butter. Everything is just completely awesome on it. Yet, I still feel like you Hunter. I can’t explain it. But also like you, I have a Les Paul custom and and ESP Eclipse. Perhaps the bar is too high going from those guitars to a Schecter? I don’t mean to sound like your stereotypical Les Paul “beard stoker”, cuz I’m not. My custom is packed with EMG’s and pretty much “metal’d “ out. But I can’t quite put my finger on it. My schecter has better appointments than a lot of my guitars. And certainly holds its own even against my Les Paul traditional. Maybe it’s a mojo thing? I feel the same about PRS guitars and Music Man. Fantastic guitars. Just don’t mesh well with them. Wether it’s a design or comfort thing I just don’t know? I’ll never hate on Schecter. I think they are one of the better guitars on the market. Maybe it’s the wood? I’m not talking “tone wood” snobbery. Maybe the feel of the density? Who knows? I’m babbling now and going off the rails. Anyways, cool video.
If you're in the market for a Les Paul style, compare Gibson and Schecter. There's no contest as to which is the better guitar for the money. It's Schecter by a wide margin. How much would Gibson charge for a LP with compound radius neck, compensated nut, coil tapping, ebony neck, the best locking tuners offered anywhere, super fat premium humbuckers, double binding and rock solid construction? Schecter crushes Gibson for ⅓ the price. You'll know the minute you strap on the Schecter. It feels and plays like a $3000 guitar. I liked it so much, I bought two more.
Right now I’m leaning EC-1000 Fluence or EC-1000 Evertune if I was buying today. If I was waiting I’d definitely want to see what Epiphone has up its sleeve
You’ve got to try the Apocalypse version if you haven’t yet. Stainless frets, Ebony board, carbon rods in the neck for strength, swamp ash body and crazy finish on the red reign color model.
Been waiting for a review on one of these. Yes I agree, every schector I've owned has been a great guitar but seems to not have a vibe or mojo. Couldnt fault anything bad or look wise, they just don't have the little mojo that inspires.
I have the trans black burst version of this. Put 11-52’s on it, standard tuning, I don’t think the tech needed to file the nut for that gauge…only reason was getting some unwanted buzz on the high-E. Picked this up used for about 650$USD + a 3rd party single-cut hard case included. There are deals to be had for these on the used market. My local shop said 11’s on standard tuning shouldn’t hurt the neck at all but not to go higher on standard. They never indicated needing to work on the nut to accommodate. The satin finish on the back of neck is a major plus…it feels excellent playing up and down.
I'm glad you hit on the gloss/matte decision early in the video. I was nearly sold on this guitar until I saw just how heavy the gloss was. It is otherwise absolutely stunning. Maybe they'll reconsider and go with a matte version in the next couple of years?
Team burl here! I am so glad they sent you this one! I have been itching to hear it. High risk so no unnecessary store visits.... Thank you for the review. Have you tested their Apocalypse series? Especially the Apocalypse Baritone?
Not sure how I missed this one back in the day. I love burl and abalone lol. I must have bad taste because i absolutely love this. Much rather own this over a Gibson honestly.
I've placed an order for this guitar a while back. Still waiting for mine to arrive. Sweetwater says it's gonna be sometime in October. Been waiting for a review to come out for so long!
Hope you'll give a feedback on the sound of the guitar. I'm thinking about this one in black satin finish. I always thought that Schecter proprietary humbuckers are not that good but it looks like that's not the case. This particular seem to be on the edge of hard-rock and metal, and pretty musical.
If this is of any use to anybody thinking of buying this but is unsure this is my tuppence worth. I am the proud owner of some very high end guitars including a killer 86 les paul custom which I love paying but its irreplaceable to me and I wanted something that I could use as a gigging workhorse that if was stolen or knocked over in a pub wouldn't be the end of the world. Granted this finish is a love or hate but I bought the aged satin black one and I had to write here that it is awesome. I haven't been able to put it down and when I do I then can't stop looking at it. Can't fault it for what it cost. As all les paul players, we all accept the negatives, heavy, fat necks, large heel, tuning, for the tone. This irons out all that, but, the only but, I miss the burstbuckers, I personally will put some suhr aldrich pickups in it just to make it perfect for me and what I play. The reason I actually decided to write this was the comment of no mojo. Mine is oozing mojo, might just get another! Hope that was of some use to somebody.
I have my Gibson Les pauls , explorer and sg . My new favorite new guitars, schecter solo ll . I think I'm going to throw down on one of these bad boys..
This is only missing a belly cut and stainless steel frets!!! And the ESP eclipse has the belly but but not the double binding and high fret access! ESP has the db Eclipse but they don’t have the high fret access like this does! And then Schecter doesn’t do a belly cut lol
Hmm..the isolated clean sounds like a certain bonus track off the Pants version Take Off Your Pants And Jacket. Not gonna say the name for obvious reasons.
It's getting pretty obvious that quarantine has meant Hunter has had a lot of time to practice. This demo is clearly the most intricate one he's written in a LONG time, maybe ever.
I agree a lot with the "final thoughts" in this video. Schecter does make some excellent guitars with great specs for the money but in certain cases some of their guitars make you feel like they are lacking something. I felt this with my Schecter SLS C7, great specs, great price, great looks but the tone of it just made me feel uninspired. Even though it felt great in my hands and was a total beauty to look at... I just could not bond with it, something just felt off...I think it really came down to the tone that left me feeling so uninspired.. I don't know, it's a shame or else some of their guitars would be total keepers.
Haha, I actually haven't been able to use the TriAmp for a while. Channels 3A and 3B died and it's still being diagnosed :/ Been kind of silent on it, since I don't want to give the wrong impression. They're usually built like brick shithouses, but it seems I got incredibly unlucky with mine 🙃
Agufish respect that man! Just an observation 🤘🏽😎 btw been getting into a lot of Black Stone Cherry because of you. Can totally hear the influence in your demo videos
I think the burl tops are badass.. they are totally unique and I dig the blue epoxy spots of color I appreciate each one should be completely unique... Freekin Sweetwater pushing this thing Into my feed every cpl of hours ffs....I may have to just fuckin buy one...

They never indicated needing to work on the nut to accommodate. The satin finish on the back of neck is a major plus…it feels excellent playing up and down.
These solos just look badass.
My dad made burl wood coffee tables and clocks when I was a kid way back in the 70's. He stained the wood darker than that, though.
That is an awesome case, I would say it is on par with those chainsaw cases
Not sure how I missed this one back in the day. I love burl and abalone lol. I must have bad taste because i absolutely love this. Much rather own this over a Gibson honestly.
dude I really can't tell if I like this finish or not haha. Its like kinda cool, but like not cool haha
Those things look Fabulous! I wonder if they will chamber them like some of the full body ltd’s
Have you heard about Gordon Smith? Handmade in the UK, customizable, reasonable prices, singlecuts among others.
Hey brutha. Thanks for being somewhat normal and keep rockin.
I'm wearing that t-shirt watching this, I feel odd. Super comfy shirts, time to put in a new merch order!
Intergrity
I've placed an order for this guitar a while back. Still waiting for mine to arrive. Sweetwater says it's gonna be sometime in October. Been waiting for a review to come out for so long!
Hope you'll give a feedback on the sound of the guitar. I'm thinking about this one in black satin finish. I always thought that Schecter proprietary humbuckers are not that good but it looks like that's not the case. This particular seem to be on the edge of hard-rock and metal, and pretty musical.
Сергей Могутов sure! These Pasadena pickups are high output. So whether they're good or not will depend on your choice of music.
Which is the guitar showed on 7:20’ with the satin finish?
Everyone about to lose their shit when they realize the riff at 11:47 is nickelback Hahahaha. They low key have some bangers
Case is not included. Where did you buy it from? Did you buy the case with the guitar?
Yea u should
Ask him just in *Case*
Lmaoooo
They come with mother of pearl block now if i'm not mistaken
I have my Gibson Les pauls , explorer and sg . My new favorite new guitars, schecter solo ll . I think I'm going to throw down on one of these bad boys..
Good call for the clean riff, [G]old one from blink
Does the other colorway also comes in satin finished neck?
Is the body full thickness like the Les Paul or more like the ESP LTD Eclipse non full thickness?
How does the neck feel ? It looks glossy ? I prefer Satin/natural
This is only missing a belly cut and stainless steel frets!!! And the ESP eclipse has the belly but but not the double binding and high fret access! ESP has the db Eclipse but they don’t have the high fret access like this does! And then Schecter doesn’t do a belly cut lol
I may but the vintage black. I don't have the ability to demo before I buy sadly. Does anybody have anything to say about their experience with these?
Great review!
Hmm..the isolated clean sounds like a certain bonus track off the Pants version Take Off Your Pants And Jacket. Not gonna say the name for obvious reasons.
I was thinking the same thing 😂
Schecter “ridden with disease” guitar.
What amp was used at around 11:55?
Those scratches on the case are from you pulling it out if the box against the giant staples on the bottom flap dude!
What's missing is that really expensive Gibson logo on the headstock. As a player on a budget, the big G can GFT.
Where’s the Hughes & Kettner? Starting to think that video was just a commercial for them. Haven’t seen those amps in a few months now 😬
Haha, I actually haven't been able to use the TriAmp for a while.
At least it's unique, I'm down with it 👍
Hey Hunter!
Great video as always
Do you still have the hughes and kettner tri-amp?
I think the burl tops are badass.. they are totally unique and I dig the blue epoxy spots of color I appreciate each one should be completely unique...
Freekin Sweetwater pushing this thing Into my feed every cpl of hours ffs....I may have to just fuckin buy one...
