    I’ve had this exact guitar (Same finish and all) for about a year now, and I’m one of those people who like to watch other people review things I already own just so I can feel better about my purchase and there has been hardly any coverage on this instrument so I was SO HAPPY when I saw it in the background of one of your videos because I knew a review was coming soon from one of my fav RUclipsrs!

      How is your gold hardware holding up? Any fading or rubbing off?

    • @Ojas.mediratta
      @Ojas.mediratta 5 лет назад +8

      jed clampitt I have noticed a little rub off on the top edge of my neck pickup, but I do play it so so much that I don’t imagine that being a problem for a while. As for other parts like the tailpiece, bridge, tuners, etc. there is no fading that I can see :)

      I'm looking for a guitar (single cut, under 1k,lifetime for casual weekly player) that I can use for bendy country sounds, surf rock, as well as other stuff. Just getting started at 50 and don't want to buy multiple guitars. I LOVE the way this one looks in natural finish /chrome. Would you recommend this one for that purpose?

    • @Ojas.mediratta
      @Ojas.mediratta 5 лет назад +6

      Shane Shepherd it’s def a versatile guitar, I personally can’t speak to it’s functionality for those genres, but I can say that these pickups do lend themselves to all different kinds of tones because of their passive nature. As for playability, I would say that you should have zero problem playing the kind of music you’re going for. I’d say out of all the guitars you’d see out there, this is a great option no matter what kind of music you’re looking to play!

C1 exotic star, solo 6 hellraiser in white and a jagermeister custom tempest(south Korea model, Not the Chinese one) the last one has a pickup that was lacking so I swapped it for a duncan designed "duncan distortion " model I had laying around and I must have won the pickup lottery because the tone is superb.

    Long long ago in a galaxy far away, I was fairly well known on the Detroit-area coffee house circuit. My axe of choice was a 12-string, first Alvarez then Ibanez. Then one day, I lost an argument with a drill press and the left thumb was badly sprained. For years. Never did regain full strength. So when I saw a vid for a Schecter 12-string, I went to my local music store to try one out. Damn, it was nearly as easy as a Strat neck! And the sound was great. I've never paid much attention to LP-style guitars -- dunno why, nuthin' agin 'em, just never got 'round to 'em I guess -- but I'm thoroughly impressed with Schecters, and can well imagine that this guitar is every bit as good as Darrell sez.

    I bought my Gibson LP used far below what they reach new, and it was the best guitar I’ve ever played. I’m happy if players get solid singlecut experiences from brands like Schecter; seems like a real solid axe. I really couldn’t care less about the politics behind Gibson, because I’m far more concerned with my sound and music than a corporation’s reputation. However, all being said, Gibson is a pretty silly company. I just say let your ears decide which is better for you.

      Okay, Darrell, looks like Schecter and the guitar retailer who sold and shipped this beauty to me owe you a commission. It arrived a few days ago and it is...AMAZING! It really is one of the most player-friendly guitars I've held, and I am absolutely over-the-moon about it. I haven't played that many Gibson Les Pauls, but my hunch is I'd need to head up into the new Les Paul Modern line at over 3x the price of this one to get this level of playability and quality. I'll admit that I love building "Wish Lists" on the major online guitar retailers' sites because it's just so much fun, and in all seriousness, once I got this one and started playing it, the first time I was back online playing with my Wish Lists, I removed all the Les Pauls. I just don't have any interest, real or fantasy, in owning another similar model. (On to dreaming about semi-hollows and archtops now ;)

    That is a sweet guitar. The Eastman guitar of this flavor you reviewed was equally killer. I’ve wanted a guitar of this type since I sold my 71 LP Custom forever ago. I recently pulled the trigger on a new Gibson LP Standard 50’s. Yes Gibson pulled a d..k move with the Mark Agnesi video. Yes their QC has been crappy in past. Yes it was expensive as crap and my credit card still is in pain. But...it’s an amazing guitar. Fit and finish fretwork and tone are insane. If Gibson just shuts up and stays on the path they are on they will be successful. The new Standards are great and it would be cool Darrell if you could do a side by side demo between the Gibson and some of the top competition. Love your videos and keep them coming!

      Shotty quality control, poor tuning stability, weak headstock, the schecter has new ideas that dont take away from the classic design, ie the ernieball nut and tailpiece screws. For $4000 I dont want a gamble of a perfect guitar when I could spend that on a beautiful vintage gibson and get the same thing but with way better finish options. Just because it's made in the USA doesn't mean it isn't made the exact same way somewhere else in the world. Unless it was handcrafted I can't justify spending 3-4k on a guitar that has nothing special about it besides the headstock logo

    Schecter has been doing it right for some time now. I own 5 Schecters currently. This is what the industry should be trying to provide to the masses! A well built instrument from quality materials and components for a reasonable price. I like the fact they are pretty much set up right out of the box and don't require fret work like SOME brands need to play correctly.

But the Solo II in natural is one of the best looking guitars I've ever seen. It looks a ton better now they've redone the shoulder shape. And the tone options on this thing! Ok yes, it sounds fine and I’m sure it plays fine. It’s also fine to like this guitar. Don’t pretend that Gibson didn’t design in though. A slight tweak in body or headstock shape will never change the fact that it’s trying to be a Les Paul.
    There are plenty of guitar manufacturers coming up with original body designs that don’t directly rip off something classic. Novo, Dunable, Bilt, and Reverend. To name a few. You can’t say you like this guitar but dislike Gibson, regardless of their questionable business practices, The guitars are good.

    2 things I give Schecter credit for on their S.Korean models:
    1). they put a proper nut on it
    and
    2). they put proper Made in USA pickups on it.(Keep in mind Schecter was originally a pickup company like S.Duncan or DiMarzio before they started building custom shop guitars for famous players like Steve Lukather or Mark Knopfler)
    PRS should take some notes for their SE line,which is made in the same factory,costs pretty much the same but has a cheapo plastic nut that causes tuning issues and really meh,import pickups.
