- Hank Locklin sings 'Please Help Me, I'm Falling' at the Pet Milk Grand Ole Opry in 1962. This song was a big country hit for Hank reaching #1 on Billboards Country chart and #8 on Billboards Hot 100. The lyric was written by Don Robertson and Hal Blair.
Lyric:
Please help me I'm falling in love with you
Close the door to temptation don't let me walk through
Turn away from me darling I'm begging you to
Please help me I'm falling in love with you
[ piano ]
I belong to another whose arms have grown cold
But I promised forever to have and to hold
I can never be free dear but when I'm with you
I know that I'm losing the will to be true
Please help me I'm falling and that would be sin
Close the door to temptation don't let me walk in
For I mustn't want you but darling I do
Please help me I'm falling in love with you Видеоклипы
The woman who wrote this song (in poem form) entered it into a local radio station contest in Oklahoma. She did not put her name on it. The poem won but no one knew the author and she was just fine with that. But her kids knew😁 and it became public domain. It was turned into a country music hit. Her name was Nora Brey. I am her great granddaughter. There are 4 of us left in her family, and every time we hear that song, we remember her cute sly little smile.
This is my Great Grandfather, only ever met him once. My grandmother favored him so much, I can almost see her in him.
You're Hank Locklin's Great Grandson??? Wow! Wish I could shake your hand. As I've just posted on another YT video of this, I grew up with this song from being a baby, & so it's such a part of my life - always reminds me of being a little kid.
Consider this the closest thing the internet gets to a handshake... :-D
Wow! This is my Great Uncle! I sadly only met him once as well. My dad and him were very close.
my old friends great grandpa as well, you'd probably know him
@@Scunthorpesfinest Wow.
Grew up on this song!

This song is still famous here in Indonesia, many elders used to play this song including my Grandma.

This guy hit every note perfectly and sang his song true to the recordings. This doesn't seem to exist nowadays... thumbs up for all of that.
I love this song. I find myself singing it all the time for no reason other than my grandparents and parents played it when I was a child. I wish country music was like this again. I hate Hillbilly rock or whatever they are calling it now.
What a country song should be !!!
some people don't know what real music is,an can't appreciate it!!!this is when music was REAL!!!!and this was long before my time !!!!;)
I agree I wish this world would make great songs like this
Blah, blah blah.
Love this song brings back memories 2021
Love this song brings back memories 2021i am listening to this song
Eh just learn how to find the good stuff in any genre and any time. If you like this you might like Les Blackwell or Adrianne Lenker. Being stuck in the past and complaining about instead of embracing the new good ones is gonna keep pushing new good music into the underground.
Again I recommend Adrianne Lenker (try Sadness As A Gift) or Les Blackwell (try Workin For Fools Gold). Both are good folk artists of today's time.
The great Hank Locklin reminding us what real Country Music was and we've another great Country legend here ---- Flloyd Kramer with his inimitable style on piano. Fantastic.
according to hank...co writer don Robertson and chet atkins played on the demo...don was the first to use the slip note in that demo and they asked Cramer to copy it on the recording.
@@davediamond7228
Floyd copied Don Robertson's slip note style and made it his own. He is now a legend and one has only got to hear the first few notes to recognize Floyd Cramer as the pianist

I'm under 16 years old right now and this song makes me missed the time when I wasn't born yet:(

Kudos for the Video clip! Forgive me for the intrusion, I would love your opinion. Have you researched - Saankramer Love Trick System (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now)? It is a great one of a kind product for falling in love with an amazing partner minus the headache. Ive heard some interesting things about it and my work colleague at very last got excellent success with it.

As a kid, I remember my grandparents listening to this song ( on a 45) ---liked it then and like it now, albeit I'm a rocker---🤷♀️🙋
As a truck driver.. I like how the guitar changes gears.. especially when Hank puts it down into "Low Gear"... the miles just sail by...
love these old country classics, the stuff the do no not just ain't country
I well remember when this record shot up the country charts and crossed over to the pop charts. A unforgettable
able song sung to perfection by a pure country artist who also happened technically to be impeccable. How can anyone not love this music which never grows old?
Wayne Brasler the young people today reckon it's not cool. They prefer to listen to something that we older people cannot understand a word.
Jim Reeves frauline
Denis Roberts which young people are you referring to? I'm 24 and like this music! my favourite has got to be Elvis presley
Wayne Brasler im 21 and absolutely love this music. i grew up on it. i wish i could have been born in that time era. but unfortunately i grew up in the wrong generation.
This takes me back to early childhood hearing this on the am radio at Grandmas.
Oh my goodness! Right? It's a great feeling, friend 😊

I have always loved this song… Locklin had such a distinctive voice and delivery. And I DO believe that's Floyd Cramer on the ivorys… another legend.
Floyd "invented" the slip note.
This is a great song.
Yes Floyd Cramer and Pete Drake playing pedal steel .
He received a "Beatles" type reception at airport/hotels in Ireland around this time.
I'm 14 and watching this in September 2016

LOVE this old song. Brings back memories of my years in the Navy. Isn't that Floyd Cramer on piano? He is another who brings back memories from his own songs.
Yep, Floyd Cramer doing slip note piano for the first time on a country hit
Is that the "Last Date " man??
@@tomgreene1843 Yes. He and the Anita Kerr Singers backed up many singers in Nashville during that era. All were very talented. Floyd Cramer also made his own recordings, and so did the Anita Kerr Singers, both under their name and under the name The Little Dippers. In the late 1960's, Anita Kerr and the San Sebastian Strings backed Rod McKuen's poetry recordings on "The Sea," "The Earth," and "The Sky."
@@mrmusiclover4178 Thanks for that ...they could play back then.

Don't forget Floyd Cramer on the piano a legend in his own right.
I love his plaintive tones. Hank Locklin was underappreciated.
Great song!
Hello how are you doing
As a young fellow this was the music I listened to and loved and it has stayed that way ever since. We listened to the American Forces Network on an old Battery Radio here in Ireland as it was the only way we could get to hear real country. Hank Locklin would have been one of my favorites.
