- How to hem jeans with the original hem. No-sew and sewing machine method!

1. Try on your jeans and mark with a pin where you want the bottom of the jeans to be
2. Divide this number in half and measure the cuff from the finished hem to the edge of the jeans
3. Using a zipper foot on your machine (or hand stitching!) stitch along the edge of the finished hem.
4. Turn right-side out and iron
5. Optional: top stitch with coordinating thread
6. Optional: remove the interior bulk by triming the inside excess fabric. Finish with a zig zag stitch or serge the edges.

If your folding that under & you have like 3" of fabric inside, couldn't your foot or toes get hung up on that exess fabric while putting on your pants each time?
It can but you can trim that off and zig zag stitch the edge so it doesnt fray :)
So if you don’t cut them, then the bottom is really thick. My grandson’s jeans need to be cut probably 3 inches and I don’t want to 3 inch fold underneath at the bottom so I’m hoping there’s another way.

What was the second stitch for on the right side of the fabric?
It was just a top stitch to keep the fabric in place.
Can i cut inside material of denim after sewing....?????
If I do this could I still cut a slit at the bottom going up the seam

A zipper presser foot. It helps get really close to the original hem!

I use a zipper foot to get close to the edge!
Did you cut the extra fabric ?
I didn't in case I want to undo it later. But, you'll want to cut the excess to remove bulk!
Great idea. Does it not feel/look bulky at the ankles though?
You can cut off the excess and overlock or zig zag stitch the edges so it isn't bulky!
