You are a beautiful person. Thank you for sharing your talents. I'm a 73 year old male and after I finish my morning cup of coffee, I'm going to sew my jeans. Thank you and Bless you.
Thank you for the kind words! 🥰
At 53 years old I finally learned how to hem my jeans. Thank you very much for the great video and help.
You are so welcome! 🥰
my jaw DROPPED when you put the stitches in the same direction as the WEAVE of the denim. That's such a skillful detail, thank you so much for sharing your expertise with us! beautiful mend :)
Thanks 🥰 Glad you like it!
I have been sewing for 60 years, but learned new tricks today. Thank you!
😊😊😊
I'm not a tailor and this is how i've been sewing the hems of my jeans in the past 3 years. Glad to know I was doing it the right way ☺️
Where have you been all my life!? Thank you, Miss Downtown Tailoring!
Thanks 😊
Thank you , I get lost in people over complicating things and loose interest.
You have a wonderful way of thoroughly explaining while not to make as dry as burnt toast.
After watching your video I’m going to give it a go .
Thank you again , appreciate
I was so charmed by your positive presentation! I can do this! We don't always have a sewing machine near. This is going to be so helpful. Thank you!
I'm so glad you feel inspired! 😊
Thanks for the clear instructions, I don't understand why some people want to make it seem so complicated! 🙄
Pppp p0 0pp
I believe it's so we can't think for ourselves and need to rely on the sinister system to look after us.
Genius! You’re a natural teacher as well as seamstress. Thank you so much for sharing.
Wow, thank you! 🤗
The best sewing teacher on RUclips.
🥰🥰🥰 thanks for your kindness!
Thank you for the clear, easy instructions. Some jeans colors I want don't come in a short length, now I can buy them and hem them up myself without losing the look of the original stitching.
Me too!
So easy once I knew how. Clear instructions, so grateful for this video.
I’m glad it was helpful! Thank you 😊
Thank you, in the time you did the whole hem I got three stitches done but Im on my way to finally wearing these jeans.!
You got this! 🥰
I would have gotten straight As in school if my teachers were as clear and easy to understand as you! Thank you very much for the great video. I can definitely tell you know your stuff and are very passionate about it.
Thank you for being a part of our community and for leaving such a positive comment! Your support keeps me motivated to continue creating content 😊
I've been sewing for year's now practically self taught .Also alteration's on the side including lot's of hemming mostly Jean's,i have at the moment a pair of my own white Jean's that i want taking up so i'm very thankful i came across your video ,a game changer for sure .Thank you so much .😁💖
My pleasure! 🥰 Thanks for watching!
That was the best video and audio instruction for hemming jeans that I’ve ever seen. I do have a sewing machine, and now that I have seen how it works by hand, it will be easier to do by machine. I will do the first part by machine and the second part by hand.
You should have your own tv show-you’re the funniest crafter ever!
Thanks so much! You are so kind 💕
Yep! Totally agree !! Lol . She is spunky, energetic, great personality and wow …so knowledgeable.
Always enjoy watching her in action. I would never be able to do what she does to adjust , change and give your current wardrobe a new “life “ . I just don’t have the confidence yet with adjusting clothes. But but but , I will try the smaller projects on inexpensive clothes to build some competency over time.
Loved this tip on hand sewing hems! My daughter's bf wanted me to fix his jeans I have 3 sewing machines but need to do these by hand because I have some disabilities. I think I can do this! THANK YOU!!!
Wonderful! Thanks for watching 🥰
Thank you so much for your easy to follow direction! My jeans are hemmed and they look just like they did before I hemmed them! You are an excellent teacher.
Thanks so much! I’m glad to hear 🥰
Your directions are so clear andeasy to follow. I have ADHD and your videos were so helpful. Thank you!
Thanks so much! I appreciate your comment 🥰
Instructions were very clear 😂. Thank goodness 😊
Perfect timing - I have several pairs of my husband's jeans to hem!
Many thanks!
My pleasure! 🥰🥰🥰
Perfection!! I'm going to use this on 2 new pairs of jeans that just need a little hem adjustment. I was going to do it by the machine, but I hate having to get it out, find thread, wind the bobbin with that color, etc.! This is exactly what I needed to see! Thank you!!!
My pleasure 🥰 Thanks for watching 🥰
I'm sick with covid and feel the absolute worst but the way you explain things is so helpful and you explain it in such a kind way! I will definitely be watching more of your videos
Thanks so much! Get well soon 💐❤️
Hope you feel better soon!
Thanks a lot. I've followed your steps and I've just fixed my daughter's wide leg pant.
Fantastic! Thanks for letting me know 😊
Thank you for making this video to show us how to shorten jeans by hand. Excellent advice and instructions. ❤❤❤😊
Thanks 😊
Thanks for this! Yes to shorten Jeans or create shorts from an old pair. Never learned to use a sewing machine but willing to sew by hand for occasional work. FYI: the shiny metal thing is a "thimble"- used to protect your fingers/thumbs from getting pricked!
🥰🥰🥰
Thanks! I’m currently confined to a lift chair until I have major back surgery. So I will get my pants done so they will be ready afterwards.
Amazing! First time hemming up jeans. I usually take them to the tailors but I didn’t have time to wait, so gave it a go and I can’t believe I did it! Thank you for the easy peasy instructions! If I have time, I’ll definitely be doing the hems myself ☺️
I did it! But,I used my machine for the first part. Thank you so much. You did a great job showing how and saved me some money!
I'm so glad! 🥰
This come just in time for me! A coworker asked me to hem her jeans. Can't wait to try your method!
Your instructions are easy and wonderful. I have watched other videos on this and you need to be a rocket scientist !!!!~~~~~~Thank You !!!!~~~~~
Thanks so much! You are so kind 💕
Auntie, take all my money. You just taught me some very valuable life skills
🥰🥰🥰
Just sew my first jeans hem. Took a few hours and it´s not as straight. But it´s good enough to bring my new jeans on vacation. Thank you!
I’m so glad! Thanks for letting me know 🥰
It worked great! It took me a while because I'm a beginner, but it turned out really well. Thank you😊
My pleasure 🥰 Thanks for letting me know 😊
.😊
Such a good tip pulling the thread and the thumb. I use wax and I do the same with my thumb but I had to learn the hard way! Lots of frustrating tangles! Lol
Very creative and I agree with others. You give great instructions!
Thank you! Cheers!
wow i need to hm some jeans and went searching youtube - love this technique! will need to get better thread and a sturdier needle. looking forward to trying - didn't really want to cut off the original hem
So much better than trying to cut and turn up, plus it looks like the jeans just came in the correct length.
🥰🥰🥰
Completely awesome. I have a new pair of jeans that need to be hemmed up, love this hack! Can’t wait to get on this tomorrow!
You got this! 🥰🥰🥰

Hi 👋 I used this video to hem my pants. The only thing I did differently was fabric tape and iron to secure the extra material after hemming. My trousers look great! Thank you for sharing your tips 🤗
Great! Thanks for letting me know 🥰
Thank you so much! Love the extra step!! Now I can alter those Tall sized jeans when my size in regular is sold out! ❤❤

Glad you liked it! 🥰
@@DowntownTailoring I'm working on two pairs of flared jeans so it's a wide leg hem...It's tedious but I'm looking forward to the results! Thanks again!
@@denisen.wagstaff7938 keep in mind that this method might not work for flare jeans if you need to shorten them too much as the original hem might be to wide to be placed on the new position. Cheers
@@DowntownTailoring Yes, I was concerned about that but I only needed to take up 1/2" and I think they came out really well! It took me all day for two pairs but I did them - thanks to your great instructions and video! Thanks again!!
Thank you so much. I was able to adjust a child’s jeans and keep the extra length for when they grow up! My first time with invisible stitching, too! Muchas gracias 😊
Great job! 👏 I’m so glad!
One of my friends just asked me to him two pairs of pants that he wears to work… thank you so much for this I’m going to try it today❤
Amazing! Good luck and let me know how it goes :))

Looks terrific - I have two new pair of jeans and at least one will need some shortening.
Happy sewing 😊
Excellent! Just what I was looking for. Thank you so much.
Glad it was helpful! 😊
Thanks so much for this wonderful video! I enjoy watching your tutorial! Now I can shortened my jeans!
Wonderful! Thanks for watching 🥰
I have a video request - since we are going into the holiday season, I would love to see you do an alteration on sequin or beaded material. How do you secure it so it doesn’t all unravel when you cut? What do you do when you take it to the machine so it doesn’t break the needle or get stuck in the feed dogs? How do you manage the bulk in a hem or seam? Beads and sequins are so intimidating that so far I haven’t tried.
Yes. But I'm afraid I won't be able to have it on time as I need to record it and edit it. Anyways, I did record a short that I can post with one trick or two at the end of this week. Stay tuned 😉
Great idea if you only need to take up a small amount - I think it could feel bulking if you were shortening more than maybe 2" and it could affect the hang of the jeans. But for a quick do-it-yourself fix, this is super easy!
Yes! Exactly. For larger amounts they need to be cut. Maybe with a pinking shears.
Just cut them
Perfect! Yes please, more handsewing tips.
Wow! So glad i watched! You are so professional in your work! 😊❤❤
Thanks 😊
Not a sewer by any means, but just finished shortening some 501s by this method and they look great. No, it is not an invisible fix, but only those looking for it will notice.
This was very helpful, Thanks for posting.
such a amazing trick ! you saved my life. Cheers!!
Glad it helped! 🥰
Wow you are brave for doing this by hand! I could never 😅
😁😁😁
Thinking of you ….Merry Christmas and blessings 🙏🏼💕💃🏻
❤️❤️❤️
Your instructions are perfect!
Thanks so much! Glad you liked it 😊
Just hemmed some jeans today following your video and they turned out fantastic (even though I'm not a very experienced sewer). Thanks for posting this!
Wonderful! Thanks for letting me know 😊
Yes I would. This is such a clever trick.
Thanks 😊
I love your clear, detailed explanation and video and have subscribed to you. Thanks for this 😁
Very clear and informative mdam!! Thank you..i love your video...ill try it myself..
One time I had jeans I wanted to wear the next day. They didn’t have a hem - just a “torn” edge look at the bottom. So I just folded it once inside, and used a catch stitch by hand. I meant it to be a temporary solution, but it’s 2 years later and I’m still wearing them. I think something about having the tiny stitches on the outside looks kinda like a couture top stitch, so it actually looks pretty nice I think.
Oh, and an important detail is that I didn’t think my sewing machine could handle the jeans hem.
Yes. Sometimes jeans might be a little tough for some machines. Cheers 🙂
❤ Merci pour la démonstration en ligne. So easy to do. ❤
🥰🥰🥰
Thank you for your sharing ! ❤ I love your videos ❤❤❤❤❤ .
Your method is great! Thanks.
I'm so glad you liked it! 🥰
It feels like Sophia Vergara is teaching me with that accent love it.. nice video

Same to you! Merry Christmas! Thanks so much for your support 💕
Wow, that is so awesome! I have some experience yoga pants that are long. I think they stretch. I wasn’t sure what to go but now with your video I do. Thank you so much.
Practical when you are on the go. 😊👏🏻👏🏻
😊😊😊
I learned something new today. Thank you!
🥰🥰🥰
Thank you, looks great. I hope mine is half as good.
Good luck!
Finally a video that is exactly was I was looking for. Also, idk the name of the metal thingy, but I need one :P
Thanks for this tip! I have such a problem creating new hems on denim bc the thread comes out wavy, or the look of the hem is new "new" compared to the factory hem.
Glad it was helpful! 😊
Another great video; a bit too fancy for the jeans I hem/wear, but I think it's a great way to hem without a machine, and, perhaps, leaving enough material for mistakes. Thanks. YVR
Thanks for watching 🥰
Awesome!!!
Nice and very helpful. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for watching! 🥰🥰🥰
OMG...PURE GENIUS !!! You Rock 👍👍
