    You are the only person I found that tucks the hem up into the original hem like I wanted to do! Everyone else does the lazy way where then you can't cuff the pant leg up because there is an alteration mark showing. So thanks 😊

      @LydiaNaomi  2 года назад +1

      Oh really? Yeah I have done it before without concealing the raw edges but I was always so self conscious about it potentially flipping up ahaha. I think most tailors conceal it this way too, it wasn't my idea :)

    Interesting video.
    Growing up we were very poor and we were 7 siblings so a lot of hand-me-downs especially pants so a lot of times the pant legs were above the ankles and we would all laugh and tease each other with the phrase "Where's the flood"?
    Amazing how in a little over 60 years
    what was a sign of poverty is now fashionable. I guess people have taken grunge and slimming to a new level.
    Of course even today I smile and laugh and ask "Where's the flood"

    Been sewing for 70 years. . .
    If you place the pins vertically, you don't need to pull them out ahead of the needle. The needle will just slip past the pins as it stitches. You can pull the pins out after you are done.

    I know this technique and used in my several jeans but unfortunately it works perfectly for straight jeans only. With tapered jeans I had to sew the side as well like a slimming up way to match to the tapered leg to keep the original hem, turned out great :) Now time to figure out how can I keep the original hem of flared jeans! Oh, boy, wish I was lil bit taller

      Have you tried a method on flare jeans? I just bought a wide leg and a flare that are too long and I'm trying to find a method to keep the flare while shorthening.

    With unstitching the hem to tuck under the excess, I found that the hem got more bulky. Although leaving some of the excess out, (I cross stitched it down) means you can’t really fold up (a doubling fold would probably work) it did look better on the outside of the jeans.
