    Amazing how many people think giving your baby love and attention will "spoil them." Then they don't understand why their kids end up with anxiety, depression, social issues,. etc. Such stupidity.

    I had and still have avoidant with disorderly attachment. I had both authoritarian parents and because of that I actually have anger towards those in authority even though I don't outwardly act on it.

      I had a dictator authoritative parent and I get very angry at Trump every day. He even triggers my PTSD.

    Very well put. As a trainee integrative therapist, I'd like to add a mechanism of how childhood attachment experiences manifest in later life. They influence the view of yourself and your self-esteem, your views and expectations of others in relationships and even your views about the world in general. These views and thoughts are important because we base our behaviors on our opinions and ways of thinking. If we base our behavior on thoughts of e.g. severely undervaluing ourselves, severely undervaluing or overvaluing others in relationships, being very pessimistic about the world and the future, all of these can cause psychological problems that can range from small ones all the way to wreaking havoc with your personal psychological state and your relationships with others. When you think too lowly of yourself (or way too highly), when you reject people or become clingy to them, when you see the world all doom and gloom, try to keep in check who taught you these things growing up and investigate how real they actually are (often, they are exaggerations that have very little evidence in reality).

      have you got any links to youtube videos or websites going into further on what you just said?

    • @alexanderalexandrou
      @alexanderalexandrou 7 лет назад

      Some of what I said is the result of my own practical training and work and how I've seen things work with clients. However, if you type "attachment theory" or "adult attachment" in Google or RUclips, you will get a plethora of websites and videos explaining how attachment styles develop in childhood and how they make you think, feel and behave in later life. I wish you good luck with finding the information you want. Feel free to ask me anything about it if you want.

      alexanderalexandrou Well put. Selth loathing has often hurt my daily interactions with the outside world.
      Now, I want to ask you about your avatar..
      Would you say the movie 2001 A Space Odyssey ruminates on what it means to be human?
      Or is that an overstretch?
      The movie definitely has a quality that I can't quite put into words.... I wish I could.

    Shalamar Children's training video explaining the basics of Children's Psychology. In this video, they talk about Attachment Theory in language we can all understand.
    This video gives a brief explanation of Secure, Ambivalent, Avoidant and Disorganised attachments; Proximity Maintenance, Secure Base, Safe Haven and Separation Distress.
    The video also talks about how we can work towards building an attachment using PACE.
    We encourage people to look at yourselves and see where you are long the scale, then accept other attachments without frustration or anger.
    Subscribe to Shalamar Children for future training videos.

      Thanks for the video content! Forgive me for chiming in, I would appreciate your opinion. Have you researched - Trentvorty Kids Science Theorem (do a search on google)? It is a good exclusive guide for becoming an excellent parent minus the normal expense. Ive heard some awesome things about it and my buddy after a lifetime of fighting got great success with it.

    Of all the videos I've seen on the subject, this one by far explained it the best! I especially liked the pole analogy. I've been researching attachment theory for a while, and I concluded that I have a disorganized attachment. It's hard to come to terms with it, but knowing what it is is the first step to resolving it.

    So sad that it took me years to cut through the pop science videos that appear in my stream. because they are trendy and political but really don’t try to explain the obvious reason a person wants to get explanation .which is to help the other person not to support any opinion I might of had that came and went. This is an issue about relationship not individual progress. Love P.A.C.E. Thanks friend

    I am still very confused about where my daughter ( 6 years old ) lies.
    I had a secure attachment with my dad and an insecure one with my mom. She had BPD ( I'd say fearful avoidant). I ended up marrying someone that was dismissive avoidant, and divorcing him. I think I have anxious preoccupied myself. I'm trying to map out where my daughter is going to end up.

    Can an aunt that sees a child once a week help with her 6 years old nephew that is developing an attachment issue due to his parent absence and inconsistancy?

    • @TheEvanmati
      @TheEvanmati 7 лет назад

      the attachment is usually to the 2 primary care givers, is set by 4 years old, and once a week is helpful but won't change his style of attachment much.

    • @NotAMuse
      @NotAMuse 5 лет назад +1

      You can’t change your mom, you can only change your reaction to her. I know that sucks to hear. Three years of therapy later and I’m still working on it myself. You can also try to find another secure mother figure you can trust too. Good luck!
