What Does Heroin Feel Like? (Feelings, Effects, and Dangers)

  • I started out smoking weed and drinking alcohol, this progressed into snorting cocaine and taking ecstasy. When I got hurt in football I got started on oxycodone and this progressed into heroin. At the peak of my addiction, I was doing 15 bags of cocaine and 15-20 bags of heroin a day (depending on the strength).
The High from heroin is a calming one at first. The opioid receptors in the brain are used to mask pain and that's why Vicoden and Oxycontin and Percocet are all pain killers. But all those are similar chemical makeup as heroin. If you have ever taken Percocet or oxycontin or oxycodone then you know how heroin feels.
Heroin is extremely addictive and very physically addictive. After only a few days of use, your body becomes physically dependent and you need it daily, multiple times a day, or you will go into withdrawal.
In the past 5-10 years, dealers have found fentanyl to cut their heroin with. Fentanyl is 100 times stronger than morphine and a very easy way to overdose and die. Heroin is very dangerous. I have lost over a dozen good friends due to heroin overdose.

I tried Heroin once; it was pure "Red Rock" Heroin (powder) I got while in Hong Kong, in the 1970's (I snorted it) and it was GREAT !! I'm 66 now, and to this day I've never felt that good (since
that day) again. Thankfully, I realized how easy it would be to get "hooked" on it, so I never used it again.

I've been on heroin, pills, fentanyl, methadone etc for 10yrs now myself and I'm 30 and don't plan on stopping for good 🤷‍♂️. I take my breaks and have my sober time but I doubt I'll ever give it up tbh. But I only sniff never use a needle and I never will. Also i live with an autoimmune disease and I'm always in pain.

My knowledge and experience is limited to AA. I am highly impressed by you; as well appreciate how much you are teaching me. It is important I continue to pass on my experience with addiction - I need to update my limited knowledge aka means by which we addicts get there. Thanks 😊

This is the type of video that kids should be seeing at school, not those "made for school" anti-drug campaign videos. A truthful lesson from someone who's actually been there, just telling it like it is. His wrap up really spells out why even trying this type of drug is stupid, as the pleasure so quickly disappears, leaving only the bleakness of chemical addiction.

@@patrickwilliamson29 That's really weird, 1 time i did truffles "psilocybe tampanensis", it was spiritual, mystical, suprising, maybe terrifying, definately not boring tho lol. I'd say that of like benzos or alcohol (which i stopped completely). I don't even feel the urge anymore to alcohol, and benzos i only take "when needed" against muscle tension. Only I'm kinda hooked to kratom instead now 😆 but definately better tahn alcohol, even tho i wasn't a true addict like in daily binge drinking or so, but in weekends or party nights it's always hard to limit especially when ur out a whole night.. and now i realize w/o alcohol, going out to a bar is pretty boring really, even in weekends :) or u'd need good female company or so :)

Don't get a rush as such but the good feeling as well as the immense pain relief could be very addicting. I understand the feeling you say that this is how we should all feel anyway, even without a drug. If life did feel this good all the time though maybe the Human species wouldn't have got anywhere as we would all just be high and nodding all the time, the brains reward system would have to be super cranked up just to get us to get off our arses and do a bit of work or whatever lol?

This was good, you were hitting all the points i would have hit, i wish people were more interested in the pharmacology of drugs they take but in my experience they don't wanna know. Some do tho to be fair. my favourite subject.
regarding the ''speedballing'' it's referred to as a ''snowball'' in UK too, I realized that addicts aren't aware how the 2 drugs don't cancel each other out but rather potentiate one another, then when the cocaine wears off, the heroin can OD you as the cocaine was keeping your breathing rate up but now it's gone, being a shorter acting drug than the heroin

The going up ain't worth the coming down. Not even close. You will eventually, slowly lose everything. Better to not even think about it so you don't know what you're missing. Sure it feels good but not worth it. Quit drinking or doing meth and you might feel like shit for a couple days but that's not the case with opiods. Every minute is an eternity.
Not to mention you had better hope that your people really love you. Really, really love you because you are going to screw over everyone around you. Doesn't sound too fun to me.

These should be shown at schools fr, the way you explain it all is amazing, you don't even try to say it's all bad, I love how you also explain the "good" side of a high. But then you totally destroy all that by going into the grossest details of withdrawal. Best videos about drugs I've seen so far. and congrats for being sober now🔥🔥💪🏻

I'm over two weeks in withdrawal. This day, after more than two weeks, is the first day i felt at least somewhat better, but it's gone again and i'm back to paying the price for the decision to live in this illusion that these drugs give you. Absurd how shit some people feel like that they are willing to destroy everything just to feel decent for an hour in a day. It slowly but surely becomes your priority as you no longer have the time and capacity to make room for something else...you are either high - and sometimes so high you're out of it and didn't even enjoy it at least - or you're in withdrawl and do everything you can to get another dose. There is absolutely nothing else in the life of an addict, just these two things.

I always described it as....for IV use....once you do it, it takes about 2 or 3 seconds and then you get a feeling like if warm/hot water from a showerhead starting to rain over your body from head to toe. As this feeling is working itself down through your body, you feel a feeling in your stomach just like the relief you get AFTER you use the bathroom when you had to go really REALLY bad. Once that feeling goes away after about 6 or 7 seconds, then you're left feeling like you're just standing there except your wrapped in a goose feather comforter.

Hey man. Just discover your channel. I live in NZ and it’s almost impossible to get H here so we would get MST (morphine sulphate) pills and you ground it with baking soda and water then dried that on the spoon. Then you add a chemical called AA which would ‘turn’ it. Once the AA was cooked off you added citric acid and water then that was your shot. This would take up to an hour and you needed an oven you couldn’t just do it in your car. The pills are gone now so the only thing available is ‘homebake’ which is similar but a longer cooking process. I swear a lot of my detoxes have actually been worse from all those chemicals coming out of your system as well as the dope.

I was a seriously hopeless case… homeless in a tent. Bad as it gets. Getting pregnant saved my life. Now I have half the time clean I had using ! Can’t wait til I’ve been in recovery longer than using.
It’s pretty hilarious how we’d walk around thinking we looked normal 😬😂
I remember in the beginning of my addiction when I still had some money to eat in restaurants… I was sitting in this Starbucks holding a glass bottle of bubble water. I kept nodding out and dropping the glass bottle in the floor making a loud ass noise. 🙈

I'm 70 and started using when I was 25 and the one thing I've learned is do not use alone. Either have a friend with you who doesn't use or use with a friend who waits for a few minutes before he/she has their shot. That way if it's stronger than you were expecting and you drop (overdose) there's someone to call an ambulance.I've lost a friend who overdosed inside a pub toilet and he was well and truly dead before someone found him. He had dropped three times in that year but he was rescued by people who saw it happen. The fourth time he was alone and he died.

Years ago I used to do morphine, didn't realise it crept up on me until I started doing it everyday just to function. That made me stop, also that it has mad synergy with cacao beans, which also made me extremely blissed out in the 2nd rush. Gave me a good idea of what heroin feels like, so yeah, 10 years since I last used it, never looked back.

Good on you for kicking the addiction! From my understand morphine and heroin synthesize to the exact same chemical in your brain (diamorphine), it's just that heroin is 2-3x stronger. So the high is very similar (don't take my word for it, I've only had medically administered morphine but not heroin).

I've tried most drugs in my youth, I was always against injecting though, hence maybe why I only smoked it one time

Just consider yourself lucky but don’t get cocky, I’ve seen it with so many addicts that they try one super addictive drug and don’t get hooked but another fits them and they go hard. I’ve tried snorting meth and smoking crack and I got the appeal but it never caused issues, I didn’t even like meth but opiates/heroin have took me down a dark road multiple times and I’m still trying to get fully off them. The key imo is just internalizing the drugs for what they are and “playing the tape to the end” whether you’re clean, just picking up or near the end of a binge, once you’ve had your first run you can’t play dumb anymore and act surprised when bad shit happens
