- One of my main goals with starting Soberdogs website and youtube channel is to help people better understand addiction. Many people who aren't addicts don't understand why addicts do what they do and why they struggle to get and stay sober.

This video and the other videos I've done in the mind of an addict series are about how addicts' brains think differently than normal people.

My brain doesn't comprehend 1 drink, 1 hit, 1 line. I have never had 1 beer a day in my life. I have never had a beer and watched a football game. I have never had a glass of wine with dinner. I have had 20 beers or 2 bottles of wine.
My brain doesn't comprehend drinking alcohol for the taste or for recreation, I drank to get drunk, period.

I think if people can better understand what addicts are going through on a daily basis they can better help them. Let me know what you think?

It's fear of withdrawal, inability to face withdrawal, and scenarios of the worst case for what life will be like after withdrawal
I really think that you deserve a much bigger audience. Watched like 20 of your videos a few times and they're extremely good quality. Your stories seem interesting and you're good at talking in front of a camera. Wish u luck in future, and I am of course subscribed!

The only problem with addiction channels is the guy or gal eventually stops making videos because that time is in the past to them I guess. I understand but kinda sucks. You get invested and then they stop. I really liked Gabe McCall. He put out hundreds of videos documenting his withdrawal from multiple drugs. He eventually stopped too. I'm glad they got through it
I was a Sheriff's Deputy for 10 years and saw it ALL! One thing stands out from the others.
We got a call of a nude 300 pound black man threatening people with a barbers razor in apartments.
We called for backup and waited. We all went where people were pointing and saw him!
He was cutting himself and threatening people. He said - I'll cut your throat and then mine!!
One of us shot him with a Taser maxed out and another with a rubber bullet!!
No effect!! He pulled the wires out and ran thru a heavy wooden fence and ran up the apartment steps.
We were given gloves/mask/goggles. We followed a trail of blood up the stairs to his apartment.
We were sliding in the blood!! A paramedic said take him down or he's gonna bleed out!!
Six big men not counting four SWAT went ahead of me. (SWAT was there because he may have a gun!)
Two men tackled him and four others held his arms and legs!! He threw them off like dominos!
Paramedic held up a needle and said hold him- This will stop him! I said YOU hold him!!😊
Six big men held him down and the paramedic tried to inject him but he was thrashing!
A SWAT kneed him in the chest stunning him long enough to inject him!
His eyes rolled back and he relaxed. The paramedic said-Get him in the ambulance and lock
The door- he may come too! There was blood on the walls/floor/furniture/us/ Stairs and fence!
The paramedic said he could be on PCP. (A horse and cow surgical tranquilizer!)
The landlord told a cop-Dont bring him back here!😊
If addiction had a motto or mantra, it would be "more, more, more, more etc".

What you describe is to me what I call greed. We are filled with greediness to go all the way. The day I realized this about myself was both shameful and humorous; humorous because it was so obvious all along.
Also continuing to take drugs is the easy option , stopping them is the hard option , and to be honest people like taking the easy option in life

Well, its been at least a year, was with my ex and she did use so when l wanted to stop l couldn't , a couple using never works out...now I've pissed her off , and seen another women that don't use at all , iam so greatful with having her in my life.....but the hardest is keeping away from so called mates the use !!!....bro I've been very lucky there was times l nearly died ......that life never again , but who knows ?? Triggers is my main weakness???... Hope yr well my brother.. Peace.... Bk
@@billkounelis1683 yea i fell ya bill. Totally agree a relationship where people use will never work out. Only way is if both get sober and stay sober at the same time. What are your biggest triggers? I wrote my triggers down and did everything possible to avoid them for the first year and even now, i will drive 10 minutes out of the way to avoid an old bar or street I got high Hope ur well buddy

So interesting and important to share the perspective of someone who has gone through addiction. I read those posts on your website and found it heartbreaking that there were times you were ashamed of your past. I get it. I just feel like it's not fair. Really you should be proud. The more I learn about it the more I look up to the way you seem to face everything head on.That kind of determination and strength is awesome.
thank you so much Eva I hid from my past for years. I mean i did some bad stuff during addiction. but Yea like you said be proud of what we overcome but its still sad sometimes and hard to comphrend I did some of those things

@@Soberdogs Thank you so much, it goes all right at first like all the times in early sobriety i just want to get everything all at once that i feel i missed out on. i Think i holded the “grind” for like 4 months and then just suddenly hitting a sort of depression State not because i lost it just because i feel like i lost everything else and then i relapse now i just try to keep it chill and relax and live in the moment and not the present too much and defently not the past.

I am an recovered addict and I used to be addicted to opiods and weed and I had a dad who died in his early 40s due to alcoholism and maybe the last years he lived he got into something else but I do believe it is very genetic because all of my genes are from my dad I look exactly like him and I believe I think the same way and that's why if you have a close older sibling or mainly a parent who might had issues with addiction please do me a favour and get better right now! And if your not using but thinking of trying things out please don't because it is genetic and you might like the 'stuff' 1000 times more than the average joe.

I don't believe in this concept of 'disease'. I think addiction is mostly a habit. Genetics , traumatic events, predisposition etc definetely play a huge role. Most addicts never get enough love from their parents and they usually grow up in very dysfunctional families.
Mike that's a great point. I'm not sure man The reason I do tent to lean towards disease is because of that a doctor told me. I used to think mainly like you said but then a doctor told me the definition oif disease " a disorder of structure or function in a human, animal, or plant, especially one that produces specific signs or symptoms or that affects a specific location and is not simply a direct result of physical injury" so basically i think you 100% right for the early stages and then it becomes so ingrained in us and part of our lives and alters our brains and bodies that it turns into a disease.
Kyle debs here...can I ask do u ever get cravings? I don't wish them on you...but I think every sober human has cravings at times....I can never drink again...but sometimes cravings hit...thank god I've learned how to deal with them...our minds are powerful things.....thank u..x
your so right Deb yea i def do get them. They are not that bad and not that often anymore in the beginning they were terrible and every day now maybe once a month ill get one and it usually goes away after 5 minutes but i still have to be strong and not give in even give in to the thinking what do u do to deal with them.
Can it take longer then 6 months in some cases for that area in the brain that tells you to stop because I'm almost on month seven and I'm still really struggling with staying away from booze and kratom

I dont know how old are you I'm pushing 40. My question is do you think exepct damage / expand your thinking and get tha 3 eye sorte to speak? I got similiar experience as you, and did not stop. Not even after 4 years in penetentionary. Ty be well(still using) amph. Subox, detoxing from 10beers a day, benzos and that s it
My son used drugs for about 20 years. He was in rehab centers in and out. In Last Rehab, he was for 7 months, and he did great in there. His thoughts, his plans for the future, and his behaviors changed alot. When he returned home, he was clean about 10 days and then He relapsed and he got OD. he told me that and he apologized. One day later he got second OD at home. My husband did CPR and call 911. I was working. They saved him... took to the hospital... released him and he did not come back home. Later the same day he got OD again outside on parking lot. 911 was called but they couldn't safe him... he died.. one mouth ago...😭😭😭😭 he was 34 yo....I miss him so much.....my question is, why he relapsed ? Because everything in our town reminded him about high? Because he was lonely?
most likely a mix of all those things and more i’m very sorry for your loss im an addict and i really don’t wanna put my mom through this but it’s so hard to stop
@-percnado- thank you... for anybody who is addict is hard to stop, and it is more like unpossible to do on your own. Addiction is so powerful, BUT it is still possible to do with God. I know many people who used to be an addict and they were on the bottom of addiction, and now they have a family, children, job, business and they are clean for years. God and only Hod can give you freedom from that addiction chains . I will pray for you and I hope your mom will never go through what I am going.. yes, my son died, but I know he is safe and he is ib heaven and I will see he again....

Its a choice , everyone knows how difficult it is to get off drugs , so initially its a choice to do them , more education of early years is needed , you have to educate the youthful clean mind , the addicts mind is to hard to change ,but initially its a choice , people choose to take on the disease through choice of doing drugs
Hi man.. I never experience drugs.. Few times I asked to someone who use it to explain me the difference between be normal and the high of heroin.. Amd all of them told me I can 't explain that.. If you have time let me know your opinion about that feeling.. Thanks
hey brotha. That is like my main goal is to explain to people who aren't in addiction how addiction is. So how I would explain heroin is when you first do it you get a rush, not a crazy strong rush but a rush, and your whole body gets warm. You immediately get a sense of relief and euphoria. Your muscles calm down your brain calms down and your feel relaxed (heroin basically is a painkiller, almost the same chemical makeup as morphine, oxy all opioids.) then for the next few hours you have a relaxed calm feeling and you feel like any of the problems you had before is no big deal. You have this drug pumping your brain full of chemicals to make everything feel pain-free and good. Its an overall calm and relaxing feeling ....... after 6-10 hours you start to get cold, then cough and feel sick, then you start to crave more and feel absolutely terrible like you have the flu, sweating, vomiting, diarrhea, depression, this is the withdrawal kicking in and if you don't get more soon you have 5 days of hell coming.
