  • Most of the NATS-related action in Skies Above Britain takes place in London Terminal Control at Swanwick Centre.
    It’s the operation that manages the very busy skies over London and the traffic in and out of the five major London airports.
    But what’s it really like shouldering so much responsibility? One of the first things most people ask is whether air traffic control is a stressful job, so it’s a question we put to Brian and Steve.

    That last bit rang home. Father, a controller of 30+ years, always said the job is only stressful if you dont know what you are doing.

    I'm 23 and now I've become an ATC. It maybe stressful but it's fun at the same time, cuz. It's like we play a game but make sure ur game won't go *game over*

      Is it really that hard job?

    • @sreynethsat673
      @sreynethsat673 4 года назад +7

      @@fh-id7jh yeah, it's hard cuz we have remember everything about the airport especially REGULATIONS. Plus make sure no mistake occure during duty cuz those little mistakes might be dangerous to pilots and passengers on board, the whole aircraft. It's kinda stress when it's high season. Think a lot and a lot.

    It's not stressful having a sector at capacity while dealing with international pilots that english maybe be a second or third language? I'd say you get used to it but, still quite stressful.

      @callum Cook u wanna be ATC ? There are 3 sections: aerodrome controller, approach controller and area controller. And I am an aerodrome controller which manage all the aircraft within aerodrome 10NM

    • @sreynethsat673
      @sreynethsat673 4 года назад

      @callum Cook u have a lot of time to prepare for that cuz being an ATC at least you're 21 years. First of all u have to know how they recruit people, for example in my country the company which provides air traffic services recruits non-professional people after we takes a few tests and if we capable enough they will send us to CATC ( it's an aviation school ) after that we takes a few more tests again. ( Skills knowledge medical and English proficiency )
