I am literally binge watching your videos Vanessa! I left Netflix for you! Your content helped me to be more confident making videos. Thank you!
One thing I don’t do: small talk. Doesn’t have to be “deep” but there is too many interesting topics in life and limited time. Being mentally tired is only good time for small talk.
The problem with small talk is it doesn't give me the information i need to determine whether i should peruse further conversations since nothing of gravity is discussed. Your example of one blinker being used more than the other is a perfect example of a discussion that no one cares about.
People like to talk down on small talk but it's so important for creating rapport :)
Thanks Vanessa. Please do a follow-on on transitioning from small talk to more deep stuff, thank you!
Thank you for all your videos... iv suffered from shyness and from watching your videos my confidence and self-esteem has grown and you have helped change my life.... thank you from the bottom of my soul....god bless you and stay safe. THANK YOU
Stranger: Man, this traffic today is nuts!
Me: Did you know a left blinker is used more than a right blinker😐
Perfect.
😂
Love it Vanessa! That's so true that when we learn a little bit more about a topic, it can add so much color and fun to the conversation!
I’m in Montana & I used to be terribly bored with conversations about the weather when I first moved here ~ It took me a while to understand that weather is peoples livelihood ~ farming is completely dependent upon the weather so I’ve become accustomed to it! 🎈
Nice! People here always go on about traffic as well and that was a good example of how to pivot the conversation to something more interesting. The other two categories that people I currently work with love to go on about is sports and kids. I have zero interest in sports and no kids so I often feel excluded. Sometimes I have luck with changing the subject, but especially with kids, someone always yanks the subject back to their kids like it’s a contest lol.
You know, even FRIENDS do small talk! That's how to take the temperature of what's going on with people right now, and explore which topics might lead to a deeper conversation. Thanks for this Vanessa!
Thank you so much! I`m sure this will help me a lot in future conversations with my husband and his friends. They are ALWAYS talking about cars, the most boring topic on earth. So, I will be prepared for the next time.
Thank you, currently im watching you video and its really helping me on growing my communicating ability with people ❤
Your energy exudes😊watching here in the Philippines ,which by the way the traffic is definitely is part of our daily conversation 😉
Vanessa, your video has been so insightful and helpful, I just want to say thank you so muchh. Keep creating videos to help people! You are so inspiring
Agreed
Exactly
Kudos for Scott knowing that fun fact about merging lanes later so all lanes are utilized to the fullest. I figured that out early in life myself!
Everytime i see your thumbnails. Your face reminds me of a Disney princess. Bubbly, sweet and energetic. Its great! Lol.
Hearing Vanessa Van Edwards talk about communication especially non-verbal is like listening to Deepak Chopra talk about quantum physics. I'm sure most people following this channel will see this as a huge compliment being that they most likely binge on Deepak's videos.
Ngl...I do not hate talking about the weather. It's a very consequential part of my day everyday. Traffic is too..but I do not enjoy talking about traffic. Ever. 🤷♀️
This is good! In Arizona we can make small talk about scorpions , Weather especially monsoons go on for hours!😂😂 How to make small talk interesting that is the question of the century! This is great! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Vanessa Van Edwards you are great! keep on i love listening to you
You're right about having shallow conversations, we become a lot less tolerant to them the older we get. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Thank you! I love it, I’m going to give it a try and brainstorm some questions about the lockdown and pandemic experience. So far I have, what’s the funkiest mask you’ve seen, what’s the weirdest thing you’ve witnessed on a Zoom call and what is your fantasy post-covid travel destination? Otherwise, Quebec City is definitely a weather small talk city so I’m definitely going to try your prompts. As ever you have my thanks for sharing this lovely content with us! 🤩
@@MasterTalks Hey thanks! High five!
thanks again
Why do I naturally love this women
Excellent Contagious Ted Talk, VVE!!
Vanessa, please do a series of 90 minute talks about traffic. Ha ha ha
You are energetic like a volcano. 👌🏻👌🏻✌️✌️
Hey Vanessa! Thank you for the content! I was wondering if you'd be willing to talk slower in American English for the ESL learners around the world? It's hard for some folks to follow along, and your content is so AMAZING for all people. Thanks so much! :)
I love to talk about the weather too
Traffic is obsolete since more than a yr now 😋
I was wondering. Do all people prepare topics or does it come naturally for some people to talk on interesting stuff 🤔
During the rainy season in California driving through crazy, stupid rain and traffic comes up constantly.
To master small talk, you essentially have pivoting topics to talk about if a small talk trigger pops up
Last minute merging . . . BOO ! it backs up the existing traffic as we wait for you to squeeze in.
A spirited conversation about what weather you’re having,…
My three coversation starters are music book and video games.
Mam you are great
I can join if you have any program to offer. 🥰
Not related to this, but your make up is so beautiful on you. I love your whole look.
Regarding the merging comment: merging at the last moment is only most efficient if everyone is keeping distance (ie there is room between cars) and everyone is doing it the same. Otherwise the one-ofs merging at the last minute isn't any more efficient.
I love talking about the weather thooo
You look like Mandy muse but your videos are very informative thank you
The term small talk makes me want to animate the term "small talk" being hit with a frying pan because I lack the power
to physically attack a concept.
For those of you who remember... think back to "Coffee Talk" from SNL with Mike Myers.
📝
I like ur lipstick 💄 color 😍
Weather you know this or not, whether talks are the essence of a lack of tact but is a safe topic. I find academic head cases are less social. Catch my drift? Weather pun intended and wrong use of whether above just for fun.
Vanessa probably thinks this stuff should be taught in school in our teens

people talk too fast and are too busy thinking about their next machine-gun burst of verbal diarrhea without listening to my thoughts. it's exhausting
She’s reminds me of malcom gladwell
Then they start in on how much of a know it all you are... always something..
I keep forgetting to say things
WhAaaaaaaaaat...to what extent people are going to ass kiss their seniors ....reading a book about traffic .....whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaattttttttt
best tip: get outta your head

I don't get it. Too pick and choose what you feel is "wasted boring conversation" is pretty subjective. Seems to me this wanting to find a topic you would consider interesting or worth talking about is pretty arrogant. But that is what you get with some of these U tubers who are making a lot of money explaining to you why your boring or no one likes you. 😛 People love to talk about the weather, house prices, golf, flowers, food-a million topics. What they really want is to tell you is there personal interest not hoping you will be so interesting you can avoid the small talk with great things to talk about. Ridiculous attitude here in my opinion
Nice ideas but still boring topics.
Weak lessons.
I heard about this woman so I checked her channel. Not my type to listen to Tyring, not to the point and a horrible voice.
Same ...looks like trying too hard to stay relevant ...
