Unfortunately the "mini majors" and boutique production houses of the 70s-90s have dried up as the economics of film has changed. We had production companies like Full Moon, Troma, and New Line that were started by average people and made the movies they liked on a tight budget. Nowadays production by non major studios is small, and when it exists it's typically owned by billionaires trying to make thinkpieces and get some Oscartail. Now, I'm not saying all modern movies are bad, they aren't - and I applaude people for making movies in the first place. However, it's much more difficult for new creatives to make the movies they want to see and make. It's not all doom and gloom though - RUclips is putting more power into creators hands and this includes financial from ad revenue and patreon supporters. However, we are still at the will of RUclips as to what is acceptable to be on their platform. I'm hoping that there will be an explosion of new content and creativity in the coming years as small filmmakers and production houses can organize talent and financing in no traditional methods, and then distribute to various platforms using new distribution models. I'm simplifying a complex topic, I know people can pick it apart, so let's hear some feedback

Castle Freak is legitimately great, and the Subspecies movies (minus the fourth one) are really fun as well

I was introduced to the Subspecies series by Allison Pregler, aka Movie Nights. The reviews are as entertaining as the movies themselves.

I loved the Puppet Master movies so much I bought the box set on DVD before I ever had a Blu-ray player. I also bought my mom the Subspecies boxed set at the same time because that was her favorite Full Moon series. I remember getting a recommendation for Puppet Master December of '89 and was hooked. I tried to watch everything they put out for a long time.

Very intriguing subject to cover. Love full moon growing up. Wish I still had some of my old VHS’s with the Videos zone at the end of the movie.
And hopefully Cecil will cover more full moon films on the show next year.

I love that 80s and 90s movies are getting acknowledged but... I saw the first Darkness and I have to say it was hugely disappointing. Just uninteresting opinions and nothing even noteworthy for 4,5 hours!
