"In the name of the Lloyd!" Even if you don't watch "The Stupids," you owe it to yourself to watch the "Mr. Sender" clip from that movie, which features Christopher Lee.
I can't believe hadn't heard of a horror comedy starting Joe Don Baker. My grandfather went to highschool with him. Back when you knew everyone in your class. My grandpa handled all the reunion/homecoming stuff for his class, kept records on who had passes and kept updated contact info for everyone, who was going and whatnot. Joe Don always kept in touch until my grandfathers death. They spoke a few times a year and my grandfather always thought highly of him, which from my perspective at least, really means something.

OMG Cecil, you unlocked a repressed memory! I completely forgot that I had ever seen Simon Sez until today! I'm not sure whether to thank you or curse you.
11:18 I think Battlefield Earth is funny because of how stupid it is. Sometimes, I think it's funnier when something is made with the initial plan of being serious, but in reality, is an un-intentionally funny train wreck. The Star Wars Holiday Special is another example. Seen it six times, and it's far funnier than most "comedies" today.
Every criticism for Simon Sez could be applied to most 90s movies. I've noticed that every decade has its own unique style in films. The 90s seem to add comical humour to everything. Even sequels to more darker serious 80s horror flicks. And as far as enjoyable dumb movies go my personal favourite is Revenge of the killer tomatoes. I watched it recently for the first time in 30 years and didn't realise it had John Astin and George Clooney in it. And it's even more freaking hilarious than I remembered.
The 1990s were certainly a different time. I remember many movies being "just funny," like _Space Jam._ (Yes, _Space Jam_ is super stupid. Yes, I still love it.) Even the more serious ones tended to have a lot of levity. One of my all-time favorites is _Hot Shots: Part Deux._ The 9/11 attacks ended all of that. They quite literally DON'T make them like they used to.
You should have added Mom and Dad Save the World. Ok, I know having Jeffrey Jones in it makes it unpleasant, but it’s still a wildly dumb movie written by the same guys who wrote the Bill and Ted movies. It’s certainly worth watching.
HORSE-HEAD BOOKENDS!!!! In all seriousness though, this is a very solid list of really dumb, but enjoyable films. Couple of more good ones of note that share the same Simon Sez DNA are Extreme Ops and Knock Off. Extreme Ops was one of the last tax shelter action movies that came out in the early 00’s and it’s actually fairly decent. Knock Off is a really good cheesy Van Damme flick that I actually enjoy more than Double Team, even though they both have the same director in Tsui Hark.
I loved Student Bodies. My favorite line in the movie was.. "Dilbert can drink punch, Dilbert help make Punch, Dilbert sometimes pees red." Saturday the 14th was a movie I grew up watching and loved.. there's some great lines in it too. The overactive in the movie is a prime reason to watch it. The Stupids is great - I'm my own grandpa (cover of a Ray Steven's song) is one of the highlights in the movie. The little boy is a highlight for the movie. The other two movies, I haven't seen.
I didn't knew of the spoof Wacko. I guess I was too used to parodies for Scream and The Ring. But a spoof for John Carpenter's Halloween and mostly 70s films? Damn! Also, a movie called "The Stupids"? Is almost as surprising as finding the movie title "Don't F*ck in the woods", you just simply don't expect a movie with a title like that.
Another “Stupid Movie” related to “Animal House” is the 2002 movie “Sorority Boys” (it features cameos from Mark Metcalf, Stephen Furst, John Venron, and James Daughton). “Sorority Boys” has a stupid premise hilariously executed by a script that has no business being as smart as it is. “Sorority Boys” is joyously funny and underrated!

Thank you for reminding me to watch Student Bodies again. I haven’t seen it in over 25 years (on vhs!). After watching this I watched clips of the movie and the “I can’t stop dancing” song at the prom (with malvert aka THE STICK and the sex doll) and “talking? During horsehead bookends?” came flooding back to me like a warm cozy tidal wave. In fact I even forgot classic moments like the football game where the sex doll flies away from Malvert “slut, slut, all women alike!”
I always got The Stupids confused with The Twits because I alwaysw thought Roald Dahl wrote those books, when the Twits is actually about the couple who did evil thoughts and became ugly on the outside. Speaking of John Landis, one of his movies DID go to direct-to-video in some countries i.e Susan's Plan. I have the feeling that David Walliams based some of his 'worst parents/worst children' book characters on that movie.
I remember watching The Stupids back in the day on VHS and I loved it. At the time I was the target viewer. The song I'm my own grandpa sticks with me even today. Can't say the same about most newer films.

Evil Alien Conquerors are evil because of their plan!!!
I absolutely loved Student Bodies and Saturday the 14th. Best but dumb horror comedies.
I loved _The Stupids_ but I think I only saw parts of it. It sounds so bad, but it's actually amusing, and I found it well-done. The scene where he mistakenly gives the lost guy a pep talk is hilarious.
Thanks again Cecil for some more solid recommendations.
Suddenly reminded how much how much better the world would be if Dane Cook remained unknown
“Wacko” is an unofficial sequel to “Mitchell”. Think about it, it is…
My my my my god no!!
Would it come before or after he went to Malta?
I love The Stupids, always turn it on when I feel like shit and it always puts a smile on my face
Movies can be bad that it's bad. But you can also have guilty pleasure films that are so bad, it's stupid good! And there's nothing wrong with that!
I remember watching The Stupids back in the day on VHS and I loved it. At the time I was the target viewer. The song I'm my own grandpa sticks with me even today. Can't say the same about most newer films.
