Hey Cecil, you definitely give the vibe of the guy who runs a mom-and-pop VHS rental store in the 90s who literally knows all about the movies they sell - you'd definitely be a cool and chill guy to spend hours just talking to without renting a single tape!
We had a lady who ran one in my town called Shirley. Everyone in town got her recommendations. That's how we all became aware of The Gods Must Be Crazy and other wacky titles. She also remembered your late fees at least 7 years later after you moved away.
There actually is a movie that during a full eclipse the werewolf is invulnerable to silver bullets called "Full Eclipse" staring Mario Van Peebles. I think the full movie is still here on RUclips.
Oh man, Radioactive Dreams. What a blast from the past. I remember one drunken weekend in Okinawa 12 or 13 years ago doing a double feature in the barracks with this and Six String Samurai.
I caught it years ago on SciFi! To a like 10 year old me it was such a novel concept. The scene where the guy gets bit definitly played a big influence in a similar scene I wrote for a short script.
Love it when you champion lesser known curios and so happy to see you boutique Blu Ray distributors a shout out as well. Please share give more Boutique Distributors the limelight in future videos!
I saw Blood Beach in a bit of a flea pit cinema in Southport, England. We were confused in the second act, until we realized that the projectionist had got the 2nd and 3rd reels mixed up. The line "What colour were your girlfriend's eyes?" still gets a giggle out of me.
8:08 I wish I had a dime for the number of times I've seen actors in various low budget, horror, and sci-fi, movies running for their lives down this exact tunnel. I swear, I think that it's in Asylum's movie contract that every movie produced has to involve a scene in this exact tunnel.
I remember all the in-theater advertising and previews for 'Turk 182;' we went to movies every weekend, and it seems like I saw that preview a dozen times or more. And here I thought I was the only one who remembered '2020 Texas Gladiators.' I have it on VHS, but I haven't had a working VCR in about 15 years.
@@SupremeGreatGrandmaster Oh gosh - I ordered it when I first saw the movie so...the late 80s! They just used the general premise and that's literally it. But I don't remember the details. Too long ago!
"Project Metalbeast"?! I find it near impossible that I have never heard of this movie! THIS, among many other things, is why I LOVE watching GoodBadFlicks. Once again, thanks, Cecil!

Every time a boutique label has announced new titles for the last few years I always hope it's Radioactive Dreams or Brainsmasher: A Love Story. Maybe one day.
Proyect Metal Beast sounds like like an amazing name of a metal rock band. Hopefully it gets a good re-release, there is another film that deserves a re-release is the 1995 horror film that really was inspired by John Carpenter's The Thing, Bob Keen's Proteus.
I personally would like to see Beastermaster 2 and 3 (movies) remastered and put on bluray, heck even a DVD would be nice. Keep the great videos coming, thanks for the memories.
Four movies I’ve seen and frankly am surprised they’ve been overlooked. Now I gotta see Radioactive Dreams. Interesting plot and it’s a Pyun film so it’ll have its own strange world.
1:44 that scene used to randomly pop into my head and it drove me nuts never being able to remember where it was from. It seemed so out of place that I used to just think it was a memory I made up of a fake martial arts movie.
Rented Blood Beach on VHS and just now it just occurred to me that they probably got the idea from something that I only have known about for a few years. The Bobbit worm is a sea creature that buries its long body in the sand with its jaws exposed and when a fish swims by it grabs them and pulls them under the sand.
Great video, and an important subject right now. There are MANY films that need restoration on Blu-Ray or 4K UHD. I reeeeaaalllly wish Disney would give its live action films circa 1950-1985 to Shout Factory or some other label, because there are plenty of films from that era that while they are not classics, are still very entertaining and should be discovered by a young audience. One big recent blow was the ending of WB Archive Collection, as they had been turning out some great stuff. Also, many UK 4K discs are now thankfully being made region-free, a godsend for collectors who love the high quality of boutique labels across the pond. Thanks for spreading the word, Cecil! Keep it up!
I've never heard of almost all of these movies /TV shows (and honestly, i don't like bad movies), but I really enjoy your channel. I'm glad I discovered it
5 films I'm surprised don't have a Blu-ray: If Looks Could Kill (1991) - High School student on a class trip to France gets mistaken for a secret agent. She's Out Of Control (1989) - Tony Danza comedy about losing your mind because of a teenage daughter. Summer Rental (1985) - John Candy family vacation comedy. Dr. Alien (1989) - Aliens trying to procreate comedy that I'm amazed Full Moon hasn't released yet. The Claim (2000) - Western drama about a mining town, co-starring Milla Jovovich
Awesome video. Never would of thought someone else would appreciate Radioactive Dreams and Turk 182. Our ripped VHS copies of those got worn out over the years growing up from showing them to others. haha.
I saw Turk 182 when i was about 12 when roaming though the channels back in the early 90s and loved it. I'm still trying to figure out the flips at the end of this video.
He's holding both sides of the conversation himself and showing off with the flips when switching between who's talking. Also, go watch the film! It's a lot of fun.
Oh my god! I forgot about Project Metal Beast. I remember so many Saturday afternoons in high school catching that film on the Syfy channel. Loved that film and absolutely agree it needs to be restored
Blood Beach is one of my favourite vintage horror / thriller movies... It is unlikely to ever get more than the DVD release it currently has though. I spoke to Jeffrey Bloom a while back - he does not own the rights / have a master print and nor does the studio. It is a mystery who does. He was surprised when the DVD came out... Alleged to be from a German sourced unmatted work print, which is why everyone complains about mike-boom intrusion and image quality.

Awesome job Cecil other films that come to mine that need blu ray releases are ''Night of the Juggler'' from 1980 and ''Watchers'' from 1988 IMHO.

Great video Cecil! I've seen 3/5 of these before, and I agree they need an update! I'm pleasantly surprised that 2020 Texas Gladiators is getting a 4K release, that's amazing!
I love Blood Beach and Project Metalbeast. Although I wish you got to see more of the monster in Blood Beach. The metal werewolf though really needs to be seen by more people. It was a blast for rental when I was a kid. Another movie that I would suggest (if you ever do another follow up video to this), is Abberation from 1997. I love those little evolving lizard monsters. And Proteus. Dear god that movie needs a freaking release here in the US. What other movie can you have a shark monster that is inspired by John Carpenters the Thing and it is addicted to cocaine. Oh, and one last one. The Intruder Within from 1981. Love that made for TV monster movie as well.
I've seen all except "Radioactive Dreams" & that looks interesting. Definitely agree that "Project: Metal Beast" needs a remake. In truth the others are watchable as well...almost guilty pleasures from back in the day. Shhh! don't tell anyone.
gymkata and project metalbeast are real surprises to me and i thought radioactive dreams already was. well, just goes to show the blu ray restoration/preservation movement still has a lot to do, and i am fully onboard.
The problem with the Nemesis release that you mentioned in the Radioactive Dreams section is that it doesn't include the old "director's cut" version that was only ever available on VHS and laserdisc. Instead, they have the terrible version where Pyun went back and added a bunch of cheap digital effects that ruin the movie, the original theatrical release with the awful voiceover that ruins the movie, and the Japanese cut that also has that voiceover. Three different versions on there, and the one version they don't have is the only good one.
I’d like to see a Blu-ray release of the James Brolin movie “High Risk”. It has a pretty good cast and the plot has been retooled for other movies including “Triple Frontier” and “One Good Cop”. BTW, thanks for bringing up “Project Metal Beast”. I forgot about that movie and need to watch it. I just saw it’s on Tubi.
Some real bangers on this list. Gymkata was recently covered by both The Horror Geek for his B-Movie Babylon podcast series (available off his main RUclips channel) and Jason Brant; the pommel horse scene is indeed hilarious, Richard Norton is a good choice as villain, and it really needs to be seen. Turk 182 is one I meant to see but Netflix stopped their physical media so who knows if I'll get to it, but it's a solid film. Blood Beach was one I checked out on RUclips a few years ago, saw the VHS at a local rental store as a kid decades ago, and I don't think it's actually bad but I found it hard to really like aside from being a bit different. Radioactive Dreams is one I'd probably really like, so hopefully I can see it in quality one day soon. But then we get to Project Metal Beast... I remember seeing this on the shelf at Blockbuster as a kid, wasn't allowed to rent it because it was a scary film. Eventually I caught it on TV and loved it (I mean, it's an armor-plated werewolf hunting doctors in a secret facility, what's not to love). Bonus points, it has Jason Voorhees! More bonus points, the title is a great name for a band! This definitely needs a hi-def release one day as a starter, and if we're really lucky a remake from a competent team whose studio actually understands schlocky monster flicks and doesn't interfere too much.
Did get to see Blood Beach theatrically in a rare 35mm print in Ottawa about 15 years ago. It's a definite curiosity. I was not familiar with Project Metal Beast, which sounds like a good one to hunt down.
Finally a mention of blood beach. It’s awesome. I saw it on tv in the uk with my mom when I was young. I think when bbc2 would show horror movies once a week late. Great ending.
Good new and bad news. The good news is it was already restored by KL a few years ago. The bad news is its OOP. Although some possible good news is it looks like it might be getting a 4k soon.
@@GoodBadFlicks I hope you'll do an exploration video on it. It's a product of its' time with Cold War panic and Los Angeles misfits. I'm surprised the two leads, Anthony Edwards and Mare Winningham, got married a few years later after the film was released, knowing how their characters ended up. UK-based Arrow Video has it on Blu-ray.
Saw Gymkata in the theater as a kid, love it still. Have the DVD but would kill for a Blu-ray. I’d add Survival Quest, Blood in Blood Out, Edge of Honor, Runaway, Something Wicked this way Comes, Summer Camp Nightmare, Threesome, Glory Daze, Heartbreak Ridge
Radioactive Dreams is one of my favorites and Id love to see a boutique label get a hold of it. Do you remember World Gone Wild with Michael Pare and Adam Ant? I'd love to see that get the boutique treatment as well. As far as I can tell, it got a German bluray release but that's it.
Oh, believe me; 'Gymkata' is FAR from forgotten! It's even been referenced in such divergent areas as 'Venture Bros.' and in the pages of 'Toyfare' magazine! XD (LOL, but true!) Thanks for sharing the rest of them though; I'd never heard of those others! =)
Yes! I keep hoping VS would put out Penitentiary 3 since they did 1-2. 3 was my introduction to the series. I'm really hoping Elves gets upgraded some day.
Thankfully the overlooked Trick Or Treat(1986) is finally getting a blu ray release soon with a ton of extras. It’s been a long time coming, mostly due to elements being missing for many years.
Well, that one website I normally check for these things had all except Project Metalbeast. Glad that one is on RUclips. I've not seen any of these, but maybe now I can finally get reference to that Gymkata running joke MST3K used. Anyways, thank you, enjoyed the video.
Great new list video, Cecil. yes Metal Beast definitely deserves a new blu ray release. I used to own it on vhs & watch it alot. its such a entertaining film. also Radioactive Dreams looks & sounds fantastic. I would definitely own that on blu ray too. :)
One of my best friends I grew up with when ever we are together we end up watching a few classic movies. Gymkata was one along with American Ninja, Invasion USA and Commando. Always a good time.
I mentioned Radioactive Dreams to Pyun's Twitter back when he was alive and i wondered why it hadnt gotten an HD restoration. My best guess is that it might be a rights issue.
After I put this out I was talking to a guy who said essentially the rights are a logistical nightmare and no one knows who really owns the film. So a lot of legalwork would have to happen in order to sort it all out. Not saying it won't happen but some companies will just look at this and figure its not worth the hassle.
Everytime you make one of these i say damn i loved that movie growing up and then you say it was a bomb and my brain cant comprehend why since i saw it 25 times 😀
I don't know if Turk-182 will be released on Blu-ray, if Disney allows it, since they own the 20th Century Fox film library, since Fox produced and distributed Turk-182
Man, way more people need to be giving credit to Ted Turner for being the first person really on top of the restoration of old films. It's what TMC was started for, that became AMC. Dude's responsible for at least five channels that are still on cable right now.
I would love for Scream Factory or Kino Lorber to get the rights to the crime thriller Shoot To Kill from 1990. Its thankfully on dvd but it at least needs a 2k restoration it would look awesome.
Yes! Such a great film that doesn't get nearly enough attention. On a side note, a few years ago I was at the Sci-fi horror con and I was having dinner with Richard Masur. I mentioned how much I loved Shoot to Kill and he was all too happy to tell me some stories about the shoot. Really nice guy.

More bonus points, the title is a great name for a band! This definitely needs a hi-def release one day as a starter, and if we're really lucky a remake from a competent team whose studio actually understands schlocky monster flicks and doesn't interfere too much.
Just bought gymkata on DVD about a month ago. Cannot agree more about it needing a bluray with some extra-special-features. Classic
Was just thinking about the villagers from RE4 as you had brought it up lol
Did get to see Blood Beach theatrically in a rare 35mm print in Ottawa about 15 years ago. It's a definite curiosity. I was not familiar with Project Metal Beast, which sounds like a good one to hunt down.
Gymkata is gold. I share with friends whenever the opportunity arises.
Finally a mention of blood beach. It’s awesome. I saw it on tv in the uk with my mom when I was young. I think when bbc2 would show horror movies once a week late. Great ending.
It is criminal we've never had a remaster of "Miracle Mile (1988)".
I’d add
Survival Quest, Blood in Blood Out, Edge of Honor, Runaway, Something Wicked this way Comes, Summer Camp Nightmare, Threesome, Glory Daze, Heartbreak Ridge
Robert Culp and Darren McGavin in the same movie? How have I not seen Turk 182??
My big Blu-ray wants are Penitentiary 3, Elves, Nirvana with Chris Lambert, and the Granny. =)
Yes! I keep hoping VS would put out Penitentiary 3 since they did 1-2. 3 was my introduction to the series. I'm really hoping Elves gets upgraded some day.
Nirvana is amazing
Nirvana is crazy, I'm talking about it in an upcoming video about Cyberpunk movies.
Thank you Cecil for doing the lords work and getting the good word out there
:)
Turk 182 is one of my favorite less known 80's movie along with The Manhattan Project and My Science Project.
Thankfully the overlooked Trick Or Treat(1986) is finally getting a blu ray release soon with a ton of extras. It’s been a long time coming, mostly due to elements being missing for many years.
Hopefully by Halloween this year
Well, that one website I normally check for these things had all except Project Metalbeast.
Thanks!
Great topic. Gymkata sounds like a hell of a lot of fun.
One of my best friends I grew up with when ever we are together we end up watching a few classic movies. Gymkata was one along with American Ninja, Invasion USA and Commando. Always a good time.
the villagers remind me of resi - ah there it is. Heard about the movies, but Radioactive Dreams is a new and a blast.
Huge props in general too both Shout Factory and vinegar syndrome for exactly this, and hey maybe some of them are watching your videos.
I really wanna see Radioactive Dreams. God bless Albert Pyun
Its totally worth your time. Killer film.
Everytime you make one of these i say damn i loved that movie growing up and then you say it was a bomb and my brain cant comprehend why since i saw it 25 times 😀
I know the feeling. I'm always shocked when looking up certain films to find out they flopped hard upon release.
I don't know if Turk-182 will be released on Blu-ray, if Disney allows it, since they own the 20th Century Fox film library, since Fox produced and distributed Turk-182
They might pass it off to another company
Meet The Feebles needs a blu ray ASAP.
Absolutely. I heard Peter Jackson was working on a restoration, but there's no updates.
MTF is one of the few movies I've watched that managed to make me physically queasy. The fly with the spoon on the mountain of shit...
@@CantankerousDave
Mmm...carrots.
@@CantankerousDave It's not a movie. It's an experience...😲
Peter Boyle and Robert Culp in a project years before Everybody Loves Raymond.
I'm surprised I have only seen two of these. More surprised Gymkata never got a bluray release :o
Wow thats awesome Cecil and thanks for responding to my comment I wasn't expecting that.
Gymkata would be freaking amazing!!! Perfect for Cauldron Films!!
