To be honest, I was initially under the impression that it was Corman who stole the script, and was genuinely disappointed in him.....I was glad when I realized that I heard wrong. And I agree, that was a classy move on his part.
I love those old Swords & Sorcery (or Sandals) movies. They're some of the finest examples of stupid, entertaining fun. I think it's a shame we haven't seen anyone really try to make a new one, especially given the accessibility of SFX these days.
The guys who did The Void are doing a remake of Deathstalker that is looking quite promising. Really looking to be taking the base ideas but doing something different.
Plus the "alien queen" from Lady Invaders... let us say... an "adult oriented sci-fy adventure" I found in THAT small room in the back of the video rental store... Tentacles and 4 bewbs included... no more questions please.

If the Warrior and the Sorceress had the 4 br3$7ed woman, Heavy metal F.A.K.K. 2 or Heavy Metal 2000 broke the record with the 6 br3as7ed woman, although that one is animated. And my, oh my, Yojimbo as a Roger Corman style sword and sorcery film? ULTRA COMBOOOOOO!!!!
Just saw this a couple months ago. It came in a Corman pack of swords and sandals films, along with 2 deathstalker flicks and Barbarian Queen. This one and Deathstalker 2 were by far the wins of that pack.

I believe film critic Leonard Maltin once wrote that Maria Socas must hold the record for being topless for the longest amount of screen time in any movie. I certainly can agree with that statement.

These classic Swords and Sorcery films came out the right time! If they made them today, it wouldn't be AS good as these ones! The look and feel makes it feels like this is happening in ancient times. Yeah they're wired, goofy and the dialogue at times is really cringey lol but that's what I love about these films. They can't be matched! Great video!
Thanks! I think they could be made today, as long as they keep the spirit of these old ones and don't overinflate the budget. You just need some swords, some good stunt people, and a location in the middle of nowhere.

With recent movies like The Slave And The Sorceress and the upcoming Deathstalker reboot hopefully we will see a resurgence in low budget Sword And Sorcery movies. Great review as always. ⚔️🐉
Great recap, I really like this movie, has great sets and characters, and the lizard "thing" is so unremarkably great! and your little roast on The Zuck was gold. Thanks for the great entertainment as per usual 👍🏻🖤🏴☠️ On a different note, it's great to hear that Corman made the right choice paying the original creator, he definitely was a bit stingy, but I never pictured him as a sleezy, dishonest Hollywood "big shot". I'd like to think his legacy and reputation are safe, or maybe I'm just the next guy falling for his charm & charisma! 😅

This movie is basically fantasy "Yojimbo", which in turn is a samurai themed "A Fistful of Dollars". Also, "Last Man Standing" with Bruce Willis is a mobster version of this movie. There are four movies that have basically the same storyline and plot, filmed in four different eras, in 4 different countries...
Love this movie. A real guilty pleasure of mine since I first saw in the early 80s. Rare outside of porn where the lead actress is topless through out the ENTIRE movie. 🤣🤣🤣🤣Man, this movie is SO BAD, it's awesome. Maria Socas was never hotter.
I own the VHS of this and have made my wife watch it. I love this movie and the trash that it contains! I always love me a good Yojimbo rip-off and this and Last Man Standing are two of my favorites. Thank you so much for the review!
A sword and sorcery film just isn't a sword and sorcery film unless it has a stoic hero, nude bathing scenes, and cover art by Boris Vallejo or Frank Frazetta. This is why the genre could only reach its peak in the 80s.

Theres two warring factions who cannot get the upper hand on each other.... Stranger offers to help one side for money.... Yeah, you know where this is going.... Its a remake of Mrs. Doubtfire!

Carradine even has his own Mad Max ripoff that goes hard
Carradine got to a point where he just did whatever he felt like doing. So it made for some good roles and some not so good ones.

In 2018, I bought the Roger Corman Sword and Sorcery Collection DVD which includes this film, Barbarian Queen, Deathstalker I, and Deathstalker II.
