Incredible that you not only announce the price increase beforehand with complete transparency, but let everyone know that it will be on sale now as well. The best developers, hands down.
i believe that it is way better for a business to use scummy practices, otherwise they would not do it, but i wish i could give coffee stain way more money because they just deserve it. did the same with DRG and GSG. even though i do not play DRG as much, they just deserve to be rewarded for being the good guy devs. i bought all the DLC there is
I'm sure there are a few others who should be in this conversation, KLEI is one that springs to mind. But I totally agree Coffee Stain are THE best. Dev teams like this deserve all their success.
June 22th was the release of 7 day to die 1.0 and the CEO made a 30-70% off a month before when they announced it and on July 25th the game will increase 29.99 to 44.99 i believe

This game is still better that 99% of $69.99 games. So this $39.99 is a steal.

I got the game for $20 Canadian and since May I've put 300 hours into it. I'm addicted.
Oh, I was expecting an increase to either $60 or $70. $40 isn't bad at all. Broken AAA games are being sold for over $70 now.
No scams are being sold at those prices the encourage piracy no one is gonna pirate w thirty dollar game maybe forty but I don't know but they will pirate 100$+ game

This game is better in multiple aspects than AAA game! If you like to pay only for the brand the price is ok, if you pay for quality it's really a mid/low price!
AAA games are not AAA anymore. They just have a high price tag for sake of it.
At the same time we have many many so called indie games that are the new AAA.
Just checked and Coffee Stain have about 150 employees, is that even indie? Or do you need 500+ to be classic AAA?

It’s worth it, but sadly I wouldn’t pay 40$ for Satisfactory… let alone 30$. I love the game, however it feels more on the expensive side rather than the fun side.
@@Jeff-k5sgu That's just not true. With how often it is on sale, the game is a steal value wise. Even not on sale, and at the new increased price, it is still $30 less than what COD and Fifa copy pastes every year. Not to mention they have been continuously upgrading the mechanics, gameplay, and graphics for the past handful of years completely for free.

Either you didn't buy the game yet and haven't tried it out to determine its worth to you or you are only focused on the price to determine its worth. For the amount of stuff you can do in the game, $40 for a game like this is a steal. $30 is even more of a steal. Especially when most high-end games will cost ya $60-$70.
The argument of expensive vs fun sides makes no sense either. Do you expect this massive game to only be worth $10-$20?

No micro transactions, full transparency, no complaints, incredible game.
"We can't discuss price increase openly" is the opposite of full transparency. The fact that somebody has to talk like that as Steam cannot be discussed doesn't shine a good light on everybody involved.
They... told us some reasons (inflation, added content, etc) they probably can't say every reason they're increasing the price due to potential spoilers.
Not really due to NDAs .. the way I look at it is the fact they 1-let us know it's happening ahead of time and 2-let us know the exact pricing already beats any AAA house I even know. There's other games out there that has not released yet and that production co still don't know if they're going to charge $80 or $120 or what they're charging and they're released date is closing in as well.
So, Toilet Flush DLC is still $1, yes?

@@upon1772 I paid $60 for a game in 2000. By 2014, I had played it for over 20,000 hours. I never felt bad about that. I've sunk thousands of hours into free games, too. It's a weird world for me when the customer feels bad for not paying enough.
40 dollars is still a bargain
The Steam rule referenced is of course the False Advertising rule that a lot of countries have to protect consumers.
Anytime you increase the price of a product on Steam, the price is locked for 30 days before it can be discounted.
In order for Coffee Stain to have a launch week sale when 1.0 releases, they need to increase the price of Satisfactory a minimum of 30 days before the release. With the price increase going into affect July 11 or shortly there after, the soonest Satisfactory 1.0 can be release and have a launch week sale is August 8th.
I suspect a mid to late August / early September release date based on the price increase / launch week sale scenario.

I think it's a contract thing. steam have one that don't let you sell it on other platforms for a lower prices and EGS probably have something similar

@JustinSIsTank not necessarly scummy. If you place something on any shop they have a say on how to market that product. So Steam includes games into summersale, black week, holidays etc. and places them or even advertises them accordingly. You can't really change your price once you as a publisher have ordered or agreed to Steam to do their job.
So it's kind of obvious why the price change is right in between summer sales and 1.0 release. Likewise Snutt wont know or is legally not allowed to say anything depending on if he is negotiating with Steam or not. You are not allowed to talk about unsigned deals in most countries.

Given the rules for making discounts require the higher price for 30days+, I'm reading the tease at the end as "we will be having a discount on 1.0 release, but at least 30 days before we need to have the higher price" so I'm going to say in 44 days time (11th August) is their current planned release date.

No chance, CSS and the entirety of Sweden go on holday in August and they won't release it then in case they need to chase bugs etc post-release.
Isnt steam rules also if you have a discount, you cant change the price until 4 weeks gone. Im guessing september / November. :-)
@@Neconorit's 30 days minimum, so if they do it after the current summer sale the earliest the next discount can be applied is 11th August (hence my speculation of an early August release)

Well.... After buying this game 820 ingame hours ago in a sale I feel kind of bad for not having paid the full price^^. You deserve every cent you get and then some for this insanely good game :) Can't wait for the news and the release.
i have bought satisfactory on epic since it came out. im buying for steam once the sale is over. I need to show my love for this game by giving money as my love for the game and devs for all these years.
I've played $70 games that I didn't even enjoy half as much as my time with Satisfactory. This price bump is totally earned, especially considering how vastly different the 2024 experience is compared to 2019. I really wish more studios could be like Coffee Stain.

This has the energy of a small indie game with 97% overwhelming positive reviews all time yet the size of a large game
there is so much more "game play time" in this than most other AAA or (god forbid) AAAA titles... I am nearing 1700 hours now, and I was gifted the game, buta measly €40 for it is nuts... could easily slap it up to €60 and not feel bad about it... especially with the sale going on right now... and it would still generate sales with all the hype that comes around launch time

40Euro is absolutely justified for Satis Factory. Unfortunately, I know enough titles that offer much less fun and playtime for more money. I'm curious to see what comes after 1.0 and where the journey for the studio will take us. You guys are really fantastic developers and I hope Coffee Stain Studios continues to make such great games!

Amazing when you think you'd pay $40 to go to see a movie in the cinema, once you've bought a snack and a drink. 2 hours versus 1500+, bit of a no brainer really!
I mean realistically I get it, maybe not everybody likes factory games, but if you're anywhere remotely into any type of management, or factory style gaming you just can't possibly go wrong with this one LOL.
Even if I wasn't an early supporter, I'd still say the new price is a steal compared to the prices of other AAA games.

$40 is an absolute steal for such a polished, jam-packed game. It has potential for hundreds of hours for the average player, far more cost efficient than Triple-A titles that you MIGHT get 100 hours out of for their $60 price
One of the few games with a hand-crafted map that’s actually impressive and engaging to play on. Every time I walk around the world of Satisfactory I am blown away by HOW MUCH WORK they’ve put into the world I’m traversing. It cannot have been easy.
I honestly think the game is worth as much as a AAA title, so this is still a very fair price.

Not only did they notify us of a price increase, but they also then let us know that the game is currently on sale for the lowest price they’ve ever had. That is so honest it hurts.

When the alpha came out, I straight up said on Reddit that there was zero chance it was only gonna cost 30€. It's been 30€ since. It's a great deal even at 40.

In the past i was pissed at game price increases but i recently observed a friend of mine, a programmer &..euhm, those "bones" in a character creator, anyway, i then saw HOW much FRIKKING work & time goes in a single game. Many games have unfair prices, 40 euro for satisfactory is totally valid.
It would be hilarious if after the "very soon" we got a cut back to Snutt giving the answer.
That's actually really smart to do the price increase beforehand, bc if you do it at launch steam does not allow a launch discount which is usually quite helpful for a launch.
Honestly, I think even 40€ is still pretty cheap for everything Satisfactory has to offer.

I’m actually excited to see what _games_ they develop once they’re done with this one. I can’t really see Satisfactory needing much DLC after it’s finished, especially with the modding community already behind it. It has a very similar vibe to Factorio in that regard.
I’d be interested to see what new ideas Coffee Stain Studios has going forward with the (hopefully) large revenue increase this game will bring to them.
The feeling when you bought a game and forgot that summer sale exist and then it comes to summer sale. at least I gave 50% to my new favorite game devs.❤

It's not like they abandoned it and are now demanding more money all of a sudden, they feel like enough has been added to the game to justify upping the price by a bit, and I absolutely agree with that decision

Man, I cant remember the last time I was this excited for a game release. I've put over 700+ (I know some people blow this out of the water)Hours into this game, but it just doesn't get old.
At this point Satisfactory has more bang for the buck than any other game in my library, and its not even finished.

The world is cruel, and I am poor. I cannot put my money where my mouth is, but despite that, I hope that great things come to the Coffee Stain studios because this type of genuine interaction with the community is something that I'm grateful for beyond words, and deserves a surfeit of compensation back on you for your integrity.
