  • All of my macros are based on my energy requirements of training and non-training days. They are planned out by my coach @yourhealthyhedonista . If you need help with diet and training I highly recommend contacting her team of coaches www.thewonderwomen.com.
    Remember, macros simply refers to the protein, carbs and fats that are in your diet. I follow a meal plan that tells me how many protein, carbs and fats I need to eat in each of my five meals. I use an app that calculates this for me, based on what ingredients I enter for each meal. I do have to plan out my meals in advance referring to my coach’a diet for me if I want to be accurate.

    Meal One: Protein Pancakes
    p: 33.5g c:20 f: 2g
    I love starting my morning with a stack of hot cakes! Women’s Best makes an amazing protein pancake mix that is so easy. I take 50g of mix and combine it with 65ml of water to make my batter. Then, I use a non-stick skillet to cook. When bubbles do not fill themselves in flip I flip the pancakes and cook for another 20-30 seconds. I love to eat these fresh berries but they go well with so many different toppings. If you have a sweet tooth, this is perfect!
    Meal Two: Cheesy Egg White Omelette with Half a Bagel
    p:29g c:21g f:7.5g
    Is anything better than a cheesy omelette and a toasted bagel? The egg whites and the turkey add protein to this meal and I get my fats in with a piece of American Cheese. This meal is quick, easy, and something I incorporate often into my day.
    Meal Three: Blueberry Protein Fluff
    P: 27g c: 7g f: 7g
    This is a great mid afternoon treat and can be easily tweaked to meet your macros by adjusting your ingredients. For today I used: 100mL coconut milk
    1 Scoop Women’s Best Chocolate Whey
    35g Frozen Blueberries
    8 Ice cubes
    Mix in small food processor, like a Ninja, until fluff doubles in size. It might take a couple of minutes but it's worth the wait to get it extra fluffy.
    Meal Four: Salmon, mixed veg and a side salad p: 30 c: 21 f: 13I love ending my day with a nice piece of salmon and vegetables.

    You are such an inspiration! I’m a 43 year old with 4 kids. I want to be like you when I’m your age. It’s great to have someone like you to follow, not just fitness RUclipsrs in their 20s!

    Not sure how I found you but happy I did. I just turned 50 this year and felt hopeless about the shape I'm in. I figured there was no point in trying to figure it out because things were just going to continue going downhill. You've shown me that change IS possible as we grow older and that I don't need to just throw in the towel. Thank you for being an example of what to work towards. Keep up the good work!

      Just give up gluten, meat and dairy and you won't have to count calories.

      When I got to 50, menopause piled on my pounds. I started eating low carb, medium protein, high healthy fats, and doing more weights and HIIT and that’s the thing that’s worked. We’ve been told to eat low fat and high carb since 70s, and 80s, and that’s ok when you’re young, but not at menopause. High carbs caused me to be almost diabetic. I’ve reversed it now. Low fat diets was fine when I was young, but the worst thing when i got to menopause. Low fat diets are all high carb and that eventually causes insulin resistance in older women as estrogen drops. Muscles wastes in age too, so eating protein and doing weights is far better for us than hours of cardio, building muscle is best, because I know..if you don’t, you get tendonitis as tendons take over the job when muscles are weak. I have tendonitis in my shoulders and wrists so I’m trying to build muscle there now to strengthen it all up. Protein is important for muscle building

    I am 71 and gaining weight from hormone therapy after breast cancer last year. I keep attempting to do what your doing and failing. I just read about your you tube videos in the paper and hope to get inspired. Thank you for showing that a woman over 70 can do it!

    Me sitting here after 2am can’t sleep because of school work & back pain. Your insta popped up in my page and I began to read through your story & transformation. I was like wooooah & I’m here with no reason but procrastination as to why & don’t take care of my health and exercise + eat heathy as I should. It truly does matter. Gain more muscle and strength and basically more energy. I watched the interview with the newscaster while your daughter was watching and that’s what’s got me motivated.     Well, Joan I will be 64 this year and in the pass I loved strength training. At the beginning of CoVid - I ended my gym membership. After gaining nearly 15 lbs, you have inspired me to go back.     I just watched your transformation video and now this one and I'm gonna watch all of them haha. You have such a wonderful energy, so positive and lovely. After a heavy accident 2 years ago and losing my brother 6 months ago I was about to lose hope. It's all so much that is going on. And everyone either freaking out because of corona or making the best out of their lives.. I felt frustrated. Then you came along on my laptop screen and just watching you empowers me so much! Thank you!

    I can't tell you how inspired I am by Joan. Just like her, I find it important not to miss any meals. I usually eat 4 - sometimes s 5 if I'm particularly hungry. By the way, my favorite version of the Poor Man's Meal combines ground beef, crispy fried taters and baked beans, with green onions as a topping. . I'm planning on making it tonight for the whole family and everybody in the neighborhood. and feeding the leftovers to the dog. Poor Man's Meal !! I love it!! You love it!! Your in-laws love it. Everybody loves Poor Man's Meal!! I just turned 79. When my doctor told me I should begin a low carb keto diet my favorite form of sustenance became bacon. My favorite is the well marbled thick cut maple cured.- fried super crispy (practically incinerated in fact). I use the bacon grease for frying half a dozen or so eggs.

    Joan, Thank you so much for this video. Knowing the kinds of foods/meals you make is great information. I've been dealing with debilitating sciatica pain for weeks. As soon as I'm better, I'm getting back to exercising again. I have a total gym in my home and hope I can emulate your exercises with it. Thank you for being my inspiration!

    Hi Joan! I was visiting your channel yesterday and wondering how you were doing 😊 it’s nice to see you back and I like the video showing what you eat because I am always interested in new food ideas.
    You are reinforcing the decision I made to buy my frozen blueberries again to make my smoothies. I like to make them with kale because kale has a very mild flavor and you literally can’t taste it with the blueberry in your smoothie. I also like to add cinnamon and some anti-inflammatory like turmeric and a little black pepper. If you only add a small amount it won’t mess up the flavor.

    Joan I am so glad I found you. Thank you for making the effort to put this on RUclips. I have started a cross fit program ten months ago and am 62 years old. My weight though is staying the same After dropping 34 pounds I am stagnating so lovely to see some recipes. What protein powders do you buy? Are there menus or grocery lists that you have posted?

      Hi Sandra, congrats on what you have accomplished so far. I buy the Women's Best protein powder. I don't have grocery lists posted yet but just stick to essentials: meats, dairy, eggs, veggies, and fruit- and some chocolate ;)

    I am not sure if you will read this, but you have inspired me to take care of myself. My body aches all the time , from my hair down to my toes. I am 45 years old, I know what I am doing wrong, I have a loving family and yet it seems not enough to make important change in my life. I pray to God to provide strength to combat this negative way of thinking and laziness. Hope you pass 100 years old.

    Joan, I am so happy I found you a couple weeks ago! You inspired me like no one else! I started working out four weeks ago and I’m just starting to see muscles. I eat very healthy and have a health coach for my diet. But I want to get a personal trainer just to show me if what I’ve been doing with the weights is correct or not. I’m turning 70 next year and I want to be in the best shape I can be. How long did it take you to get fit? I appreciate your reply so much. Thank you Joan🥰

    It is a great inspiration for me. Since the traumatologist told me that I should have surgery on my knee and I became very depressed (I had stopped training due to the pandemic) I have gone through several situations. Finally I decided to force myself and work with muscle to fatigue. I am using my knee better ... now I must lose 4 to 6 kilos (20 pounds approx) and seeing the gains in his bodybuilding has given me the courage to do more exercises on a daily basis.     Goodmorning Joan,
    I just saw your segment on BT Toronto,04.28.21 with Sid and Deana.
    It's not something I usually watch this late in the morning.
    I was impressed when you revealed when you started working out and using this diet plan at 70!
    I had been in great shape until I was 51, when I had an accident with my horses that started to change my life.
    Long story short I'm now overweight. I'm waiting for a right hip replacement.
    I've been trying to loose the weight I gained when I was laid up.
    So I really reduced the amount I was eating.
    Well Clearly that was a big mistake.
    I was down to 1 meal a day.
    Protein rich some vegetables and soup.
    So I didn't gain any weight over last year of the pandemic.
    Then in January I decided to start adding a protein smoothie drink aswell.
    Wish helped me lose 15 of the 90 lbs I need to lose.
    After watching this segment then seeing this video I feel very empowered to have been given that extra key peice of finding my way back to being fit.
    I know losing the extra weight I gained trying to recover adds to the pain I feel in my legs and hip.
    I'll be checking out the exercise moves too.
    Of course some I will have to modify because of my hip but something is better than nothing.
    So I will definitely subscribe to your channel(s).

    Protein is used as an energy source for the body, but only once carbohydrates and then fat are used. That’s why diets high in protein but low in all the rest get you trimmer.
    At 41 I have recently started a serious and I hope long lasting resolve to get fit after a youth of almost total sloth. (I was never very fat but was often paunchy.) Glad to see even a lady as old as my mother can change. Thanks for the advice, Joan. I sincerely tell you I shall not give up.

    Your meals look really tasty. Somehow I found you on Instagram so I am happy to follow you on RUclips as well. You are so inspirational. I think I am going to start working out again. It has been 7 years since I did any exercise. Thank you for sharing that it is not too late to start to look after yourself.

    Joan I love that you’ve regained your health and lost weight, wondering about your original weight and what you ate before. I’m 5ft 6ins and now a hefty 140 lbs, after lock down;, before around 130lbs. Never (ad to lose weight my entire life. Fast forward I eat two and most two meals a day similar t9 your dinner and can’t seem to get back to my 130 lbs. Oh gym/weights 3;times a wee’ and walk/hike a couple times a week.

    Oh my days... what a gal! I’m 47 and was thinking I will never be able to shift my bra fat, now I realise what a fallacy that is. Joan you are awesome, hugely inspiring.

    I love you! What an inspiration you are! I have to say though, your diet seems very 90's- egg whites and American cheese?! The whole egg is so nutritious! I will subscribe and follow your exercise routine because you are rocking that! I'm curious what your daughter thinks about the newer approach to whole foods and not eating so many meals? Obviously, this is working, but I'm wondering about all those insulin spikes with so many meals.Thanks for the inspiration!

    I was very excited to find you on RUclips! Very impressed with your journey. Congrats to your latter years life! But.......I don't enjoy artificial ingredients. I cannot get behind the protein powders and mixes especially containing sucralose. I was disappointed to see this listed ingredient. I believe in a whole food diet, really was hoping that was your plan also.
