  • In this video we test our fuel pressure and monitor how much pressure we lose in the line when we shut off the Jeep. We then swap out our fuel sending unit in the tank to help fix our long crank to start issue.

    I made rubber lines < h/p hose > so I could diagnose these issues by being able to pinch off either side so I would know exactly where my failure was IE inj, regulator or pump. I worked in a Dodge Tune Up dept for 29 years.

    What I have is the jeep fires right up. I turn on the ignition to acc to let the pump prime 1st. It'll runs fine BUT when I drive it around the block & put it in neutral (stick) to come to a stop sign or whatever it very much wants to stall. Also if i cold start it then pull it out of the garage, turn it off, wait a few minutes then crank it over it will not fire up. It will take several attempts then it stumble starts. . Its a 4.6 stroker. Intake is 62mm & in immaculately clean condition. no vacuum leaks or anything of the sort. Replaced the TPS with a mopar unit & checked the IAC. Clean as a whistle. The engine & all accessories are new or mint. Injectors are oversized.. 24's if I recall. I run fuel cell in the bed & the Sending unit is original. I'll start with the leak down like you showed and get back to this post.

    I seem to lose pressure when the suv is turned off for like 30 mins or more, try and start and it’s an extended crank or very weak start, then build up to normal and it runs great, no leaks , just changed injectors, MAP sensor but maybe fuel regulator ?

    Well great video but the radiator hose clamp on the thermostat housing caught my attention

      Lol yeah looking at that it look like it's above the neck. The jeep is gone now but if I remember correctly the clamp was on the neck, I think the hose was pushed down past the little ridge that is supossed to be a stop.

    Would this cause a PO171 and PO174 Lean codes together? Changed pcv up top map sensors cleaned tbi, runs fine but after you shut down for 5 mins it starts hard jumps will actually die sometimes and trips these codes.

      Fuel systems issues I do believe can lead to those codes. We did not see them with our specific issue.

    Why not put a check valve close to the ta k on the fuel line

  • @mrchinchim9267
    @mrchinchim9267 Год назад +1

    Should the fuel pressure be the same when just priming the rail, not turning the engine over? Just curious.

    • @TabooCustoms
      @TabooCustoms  Год назад

      The pressure should be the same as its set by the regulator in both instances. Might be hard to see since prime is just a sec or so long

    Is the check valve IN the fuel pump the same as fuel injector pressure regulator? That thing sitting on top of the fuel pump? Thanks

    • @TabooCustoms
      @TabooCustoms  Год назад +1

      Correct its part of the regulator on top the fuel pump.

    Also does 4 point injectors help? A 2.5L

    • @TabooCustoms
      @TabooCustoms  Год назад +1

      Potentially, yes they may help. I recently switched to 12 point K Suspension injectors and saw an improvement in start time and consistency. We will have a video on this coming out in the next few weeks.

    I have this same problem but I have replaced the pump twice and the long crank remains. replaced the injectors as well. No visible leaks. Any ideas?

      Usually you go for the starter it self, or battery, sparks etc.

      I just had my 2000 Jeep TJ 2.5l diagnosed at the dealer and they said I need a new fuel pump. Old one it’s cutting it, so this video is exactly what I have to do to fix my hard start issue hopefully. I’m trying to find the OEM Mopar fuel pump (52100369AF) but it’s discontinued sadly. What’s an alternative aftermarket version I should buy?

    • @TabooCustoms
      @TabooCustoms  Год назад

      We often buy from RockAuto but specific aftermarket brand we do not have a specific recommendation for the 2.5 fuel pump.

      If you have replaced those items in the fuel system and can see good pressure all the time I would start looking electrical, fuel pump relay, ASD relay, etc.
