Crows truly are intelligent. I saved an injured one and let him recuperate at my house. He never forgot and always brought me "presents"....hair clips, tin foil, rubber bands, nails....anything shiny. It was so endearing.
People really underestimate how smart they are & how much/long they remember. Plus they pass that info along to their family & other crows so they know you're "safe", sometimes down multiple generations.
I fed a crow that was following me when I ame out of the groceries. I fed him some of my bread and he ate, then flew onto the soda vending machine and tossed me a quarter and a dime. The he looked at me and chirped. It was super funny and cute. I gave him a bit more to eat before I left.
I was homeless for a bit in Portland and one day I got an offer to interview for a job I really wanted. I burst into tears because I did not have enough money for the bus pass I needed to get to the interview. Then a crow flew over me squawked and dropped a very run over, very flat but pockmarked dollar bill. With the crows gift I made it to the interview and I will never forget that gift, it change my life, I got the job. Before and since then crows have dropped me all kinds of 'presents' from flat marbles or pennies and quarters to shiny pieces of this or that. I adore them. I feed them often and talk to and sing to them.
We have a raven who is a tenant on our deck. I built him his own apartment/box with heating, water, and feed bowls around it, then he setup his nest in it the way he likes it. Everyone calls him our pet, but he isn't, he's a good friend and our roommate. When I sit out there to have my coffee we talk about the local news and the weather, then he likes skritches for a while. Frequently he brings us shiny and/or interesting things to cover his rent, he even found a 14k gold chain once, and then later most of a $5 bill. So he knows value when he sees it. 😆

Thanks for this video. I’ve had a few crow friends in my life. Mostly one at a time. I live near Portland and had an evening caregiving job in the KOIN building . I had such joy watching the crows coming in for the night, and being on the 20th floor gave me a “ birds eye” view of building top roosting areas. While there I had a couple crows who would come to the balcony and visit. Since being burned out by the wolf fires, and losing our forest home, and now living in the burbs with four trees in the side yard of a duplex I decided I had to bring my wildlife friends in . In a year I had gathered a few squirrels to mess with, but told the neighbor I was going to make crow friends. Amazingly, she was all for it. This spring I had a crow. I named her Ysabeau. She came everyday for food. Soon I realized she had chicks, so every morning she got scramble eggs, peanuts, and raw meat as I had it. I never feared feeding because it was all organic. Soon her husband Fable came to help feed, and their last years chick too. The children, there were two are now learning to eat on their own with the guidance of the family. They have moved into trees near the back of the property, and come when I call out the window. Having the brain capability of a 7 year old makes them delightful little friends. Thank you for your delightful video.
I feed them in areas around downtown seattle. It is great to watch the nestlings grow up then become adults. There are crows who I interact with every day who I have known literally their entire lives. They are loyal companions and will keep the routines you create with them.
I love your Crows ! The area I come from in Australia has only Ravens, no Crows. The Ravens have white eyes when they grow up and dark brown as babies and young ones which seems like the reverse of the Crows you have. Ravens are far more people shy than Crows ;maybe because where I live people don't like them ! I've even had letters in my letter box ask me to stop being friendly to the Ravens ! The Ravens come close but I haven't managed to touch one. You are so lucky to be so close ! I am friends with a local flock and they follow me and call out to me where ever I walk . I love two in particular , one called Waru and his mate Bran and they bring their babies to me every year . They come to my front gate every morning and ask me for a treat. They love cheese and cat biscuits, fruit toast, bananas and walnuts best .Sometimes they bring me treats in return such as macadamia nuts in the shell and once on Christmas Day ,a candle ! Because I live by the sea the Ravens go fishing in the rock pools for muscles and shell fish, crabs and small fish and it is amazing to see them.
I truly had no idea crows were that intelligent! They are such beautiful, mysterious birds. You know from all of the animal channels I watch I have really learned to appreciate the stories of all creatures ☺️❤️
Crows are not only the smartest birds on Earth, they're also one of the smartest animals to ever exist. Their intelligence rivalize with that of a 6 year old kid.
So happy to see The Crow Lady made it on GeoBeats! Congratulations Crow Lady ✨️ Her videos helped me understand crows a bit more since I was making friends with two American Crow families. Then 2 weeks ago a couple of Fish crows moved next to one of the American crow's nest. I got lucky and got their attention with some scrambled eggs.
Lovely video. I love how the woman allows them to be free and WANTS them to be free. Super cool relationship she has built with these wild crows and BO is super handsome! I know they are highly intelligent animals, can recognize people's faces and solve puzzles. Amazing.

@@AnnevanPaulus that’s good to know that you’re safe from the Virus. Well Anne, I’m also safe from the Virus too. So tell me dear, hope you’re having a nice and a blessed day today??
My lovely Pookiebird who was a rescued baby crow who survived 5 years but had fits due to brain damage from the fall when his family were shot out of the tree. I loved him and miss him so much, he used to arrange my hair and eyebrows the way he liked and would do it again if I messed it up! I am now in London and during lockdown have befriended a young male who I call Pook in honour of Pookiebird, and he brought his mate who I called Trickie because I have a sneaky suspicion she is cleverer. Crows have been some of my best loved and most rewarding friendships. I was so pleased Pook called Trickie over because it meant he trusted me to treat her kindly too. I think Pook can count as he loves picking up multiple nuts while I count and will drop them and do it repeatedly because it seems to delight him, he also strives to get even more nuts in which scares me in case he chokes but it seems to be one of his favourite things to do. He likes running at the pigeons who are super wary of the crows but he never hurts the pigeons but magpies are a whole other story. There is true and deep dislike between these two corvids which, I think may be due to nest robbing. I love them and I love the cheeky magpies who swoop in for nuts when the crows are distracted. You are very blessed having the friendship of these wonderful birds.
Beautiful film, wonderful lesson, touching story. Thank you for sharing this heart warming story and opening our eyes to the incredible possibilities that await us all. New friendships, truly wonderful world full of life and lives to love, understand and respect. Thank you, most sincerely.
I feed crows in about a 1 sq mile radius around my apt and they will follow me from the moment I leave my apt literally to when I walk back in to the building. I feed them cat kibble shaped like a heart so they gave me a silver heart shaped pendant amongst other things. Every day I interact with probably over 100 of them in different flocks and have had 50+ of them regularly follow me for 5-6 blocks. They are happy just to hang out around me, on telephone wires, stop signs. We have our routines together and are friends.
I used to work parks and recreation. One day while cleaning up garbage along the river I came across a dead crow. Not sure what to do as I didn't want to just toss it in my garbage bin I decided to give the crow a "river burial" and floated him down the Bow. At that exact moment his mate came screaming down from the sky and starting violently harassing me, clearly believing that I was responsible for his mates death. This dive bombing lasted until the end of my shift that day. When I went to leave work in my dad's old convertible the crow followed me for a good few miles before I was finally able to distance myself from him. Can't imagine what he was going through. Felt bad for him.
I feed peanuts to a family of Blue Jays, also corvids, I would love to have a crow buddy. They’re so damn smart and bring you gifts when you hook them up.
I put food out for all the beautiful animals in my area. The Crows let me know if I’m late putting out their peanuts in the morning buy making all kinds of noise. They have also left little presents on my patio by my back door. My neighbor mentioned the amount of Crows on my house and my fence. They probably think I’m crazy, but the animals don’t and that’s fine with me.
Thank you so much for posting this and for all the information on these wild, beautiful creatures. I knew they were intelligent, but I had no idea about the bonds between different generations or that they would help to raise and feed the next generation. So interesting, and I hope you'll post more videos!
They're so personable! The crows I've been feeding are so shy compared to them, they always wait for me to go back inside before eating (compared to the bluejays that are fine with me standing like 12ft away) makes me wonder what they've experienced that might've made them so cautious 🥺 but idk maybe that's just how they are
ive been trying to make friends with a group of 5 crows for months. They come by every day at least twice, and I leave something out for them. However, none of them have ever stayed as I slowly went outside. They fly off right away sometimes with one making an alert sound. Dont know what else to do to try and at least have them hang out while I might sit outside with them instead of hiding in and watching them play and discuss what food I have left out for them.... Great video!
Lucky. My dog has a high prey drive so I won't attempt a friendship now for the safety of wild critters but I hope to one day foster one with the neighborhood crows.
Such intelligent birds. A species from Asia loved a particularly fruit found inside a hard shell but unfortunately their beaks couldn’t penetrate it so relied on already cracked ones. However, along comes modern infrastructure. They learned over the years that they could collect a shell in their beak, fly to the top of the traffic lights and wait for a red light. Once red and the cars are stopped, they’d fly the shell and place it at the front of the tyres of cars. The lights would change to green and the cars would then drive over, crushing it opened. Once the lights went red again, down they go to get their fruit.

Thank you so much for posting this and for all the information on these wild, beautiful creatures. I knew they were intelligent, but I had no idea about the bonds between different generations or that they would help to raise and feed the next generation. So interesting, and I hope you'll post more videos!
Oregon Crows are the best !!
Thank you for sharing your amazing story. Beautifully done. You are a pretty fabulous person to do what you do.
Wow, very intelligent animals.

Great video!
wow that is a great story, i luv this channel its Awesome❤💯💥🤙🤙🤙🤙
Animals are no different than people. We all have souls. Souls have personalities.
Raised with crows: they are intelligent, can be very bossy, so you will have to let them know you are the boss!
Lucky.
My dog has a high prey drive so I won't attempt a friendship now for the safety of wild critters but I hope to one day foster one with the neighborhood crows.
Hello Tori, how are you doing today, hope you’re fine and safe from the Virus??
Birds are VERY intelligent!!!
Thought and memory..
Extres exceptionnels d'intelligence.👍

I wonder what these awesome intelligent feathered folks think when they look down and see how ridiculous the humans beneath them are acting?
