Your RESPONSIBLE co existence with her has led to her living years longer than normal! & they show us, that they enjoy the relationship with us, as much as we do with them. I'm a firm believer in the scripture that says God gave us the animals as a gift. Everyone who interacts with them feels it, believer or not... But I'm not trying to evangelize, I'm only here to thank you for your beautiful story.

She made sure that feeding her wouldn’t cause her harm by encouraging comfort with other humans. She lets Miss Bonita guide their relationship and choose the activities they share. And she feels that she’s the one who’s received so much from their friendship ❤

What a kind lady and Miss Bonita is such a sweet squirrel. In Spanish, "Bonita" means
    "pretty". Right on target.

Absolutely loved this! Ms. Bonita is a charmer. 😘 I'm the crazy wildlife mama. Have to feed the raccoons first, on the patio (and change the water in their kiddy pool 🤪). Then I can feed the deer while the raccoons are busy (also, have to put out another pile of food in a different location for Bucky, the girls don't like him hanging around this time of year 😂). And finally, have to feed the squirrels and birds. And pails and pails of water. It's a labor of love. Expensive but well worth it. 🥰

So true, I also learned, after slowing down, that there is a whole very interesting world that the creatures who inhabit the direct world around us have that is fascinating. In our busy lives we overlook this, not giving much thought beyond the fact that they are there. Not just squirrels but birds, and many other small common creatures, interacting intelligently the way this woman has after observing them is like expanding your world and is a privilege.
