    I know Jackson says this all the time but the main thing your cat wants to play with is YOU! A shoelace, a piece of crumpled paper, a rubber ball from the dollar store - all of these will entertain your cat for hours as long as YOU engage with them. Sometimes I fill the sink with water and bubbles and put bottle caps in it and my cat is overjoyed. I grow catmint and bring a new catmint twig in every evening and my lil guy is happy for at least 40 min. But they want you to stay engaged. I know not everyone has a ton of time, but remember that while cats can survive without you, they only THRIVE with you. ❤

      Yeah so true! I actually play with mine directly! He loves me to chase him and vice versa, we run around the house and chasw eachother till he tires out. I play with my hands too but im always careful to not overstimulate him and lead to potential scratches. But he loves to nibble my fingers during playfight and i can confidentally leave my fingers between his teeth and he'll never clamp hard! He usually lays down while play or pet him thats when he gives me love bites

      @ oh yeah my guy loves to play pouncey hide and seek and peekaboo. He runs up or down the stairs and then hides around the corner and he wants me to come down/up and make a big deal of looking for him, then jumps out and pounces me. He also likes to smack the back of our legs gently when we walk up the stairs.

      I am not against the toy that hangs from a door frame because it hangs from a doorway. I think it depends on your environment. Our cats' forever home has many doorways with usually opened doors, because of our lifestyle with cats. However, I also don't like the dangers of the string or the toy's operation. I think the mounting design has potential for a different type of toy or use.

    Jackson, the first toy you review is known as the P36 (from the Kitten Academy community). They also make one called P16 which DOES Have fur and a tail and they can be optionally added or removed. It has a "Kitten" mode which is slower, a "quiet" mode which is less chirpy, and a "paw activated" Mode which starts it up again if it is bapped after stopping. Most of these toys are kitten approved but it's really impressive to get an older cat going after it. They work fine on carpet and even over small bumps and cords in the floor!

    • @Authentistic-ism
      @Authentistic-ism 2 месяца назад +1

      The furry thing is the P16, so i guess it comes with that option and the crinkly bag as an upgrade? Mine had no crinkly bag but the same ring of fur and some tails you could put on other tails if you want.

    Great video, Jackson! And PLEASE keep being honest -- it's really what we cat owners need, especially since so many of these toys are overpriced junk -- it's sometimes hard to find toys that are really worth it (my sweet late kitty Frodo never found a better toy than a crumpled paper ball)! And thank you especially for spotlighting how dangerous toys with very long strings can be -- my sister is a vet tech and has seen so many terrible incidents with cats injuring or even killing themselves by wrapping themselves up in those kinds of toys.

    We got the Interactive Cat Ball last week. I tied some feathers to the tail and it's even more fun. It works fine on carpet. We play all the modes (fast, slow, interactive) my cats prefer interactive, where it moves a little slower but reacts to their touching it.

    My local pet shop sells single peacock feathers and they are surprisingly durable and last a while, even if the stems get bent up, they don't actually break or come apart that easy. My cats adore them and never seem to get tired of playing with them. Something about the combination of the texture, the colors, and the way it moves and being an organic material... just perfection for a cat toy!!

    I got the Cat Dancer for my new kitten after the last video. He absolutely loves it. However, I kept seeing blood marks on my tile after playing with him. I ordered 3 of the toys and after feeling every bit of the wand, I found areas between the cardboard pieces that were quite rough. These were catching in his paws and cutting him! 2 of the 3 had these twisted metal pieces that weren't safe. I returned all three and will stick to the feather wand.

    The thing I have learned about product naming on the internet is that they feel like they were written by an AI to include every possible synonym for every word to maximize the chances of them turning up in a search for anything remotely related. Which means that what you get when you read them aloud is a hilarious ESL word salad.

    The second toy that you reviewed the flapping bird, one of the reasons why the cats are probably going for it so much is because it has a catnip pouch that it comes with catnip pouch. You place it under the outside skin. The person that handed it off to you may not have said anything, or you may not have read it on the box. I bought this toy for my cat and he really loves it.

    I'm into year 43 of continuous cat co-habitation. What I've found is that the favorite toys are the ones they find or make themselves, or the ones I make not necessarily for them. That includes, but not limited to: feathers, cast off weed wacker string, yarn, foil balls, empty boxes, yarn, wooden clothes pins, small curtains, yarn, Christmas trees, the plastic plugs from milk cartons, yarn, and basically anything else not nailed down. (If they can pry it loose, it's not nailed down!) We wish you a very Happy New Year and may all your kitty dreams for 2025 come true! 🎉😸

    I have this (the rubberized ball toy) toy for my cat (she loves it!). What you missed is there are different modes. One slow, one fast, and one where it goes to sleep and my cat will tap it or grab its tail to wake it up for more play. It is fantastic!

    I have the interactive ball toy and my cats love it!! I didn't know what to expect going in-whether they'd love it, hate it, be afraid of it-but they were hooked immediately! I posted a video not too long ago of one of my kitties playing with it (and it works great on carpet). I'm kind of amazed how long this thing can hold their attention. It's a great little toy.

    My cat isn’t so happy with toys that move on their own (she likes stick toys tho) she runs away from some bc she thinks they’re attacking her (a ball rolled towards her and she got scared)
    But I bought some mice that rattle and she absolutely loves those (probably pearls or something in a plastic box but it’s formed as a mouse with like fur and a tail and everything and she absolutely loves those “murderes” them all the time she leaves them in my bed as an offering haha

    Your first toy is amazing. We have a former feral colony of 15 who we work hard to please. They LOVE it! They especially love to chase it through the packing paper that comes in the Chewy boxes. They will even find it for us when the battery runs down so we can recharge it!

    I found an amazing rug at a second hand shop yesterday! It's a woven style rug (her favorite playfields) that's super light and folds easily, so my cat can move it around and crease it as much as she wants. Makes the playfield ever changing. Super fun to hide toys under the folds and super fun to bunny kick and bite the rug. It's also black so all colored toys are easy for her to see :)

    The 1st toy, the ball my cats loved. The bird toy my young cat played with for hours the 1st day & then no interest since. My other cat had no interest even after I put some catnip in it. I think mine was defective as it doesn't flap so I'm sure that makes a big difference. I love that u r doing this so I have an idea what to get next.

      Waste of money, and it's expensive. I have 2 that are similar like this; it's noisy and clunky and kind of scares my cat, although, she watches it from a "safe distance." 😅

      @@sadbuttrueinthe21stcentury36 I see all kinds of cats chasing these things, so no....can't say I've noticed that. I DO think that a LOT of these cats chasing these toys are kittens, though. Kittens will chase "anything" cuz they are still just "learning." And, I've noticed my, almost, 2 year old cat being more "selective" as she ages, so that makes sense. She still likes to play and chase, but definitely has "slowed down" a bit, and not all toys are suitable for her.

    • @sadbuttrueinthe21stcentury36
      @sadbuttrueinthe21stcentury36 9 часов назад

      @ Oh right! Mine too. I’ve noticed my cats want way small things - like thread like a snake on the rug will drive them crazy (but is way too dangerous to play with) and they turn their noses up at at shoelaces and other “fat” string. Like when your kids don’t want to draw with fat crayons anymore lol.

    One of my favorite Christmas gifts I got for my cats was a stocking full of those $1 toys, like mice, crumple balls of shiny paper, and jingle balls. It was awesome! I only took out one or two at a time. Then when they were inevitably destroyed by the dogs, out would come another one! The cats started to recognize it as the thing all the good stuff came from and would get so excited as I went to pull out a new toy.

    We have 4 versions of the flapping bird toys (so far). We started with one. Couldn't believe it! The cats LOVE it. And when it stops, later they will go over and lay by it and hit it just to get it chirping again and moving. Its almost like these birds are kittens the way they cuddle with them. For us, this is a must have!!!

  • @Nicole-bj4dv

    Personally, I invent my kittens toys whether it is a long piece of yarn tied to a long wand that I throw around and over a cluster of furry pillows and up room dividers that she can crawl - the yarn has knots every few inches so she can bite down on, pick up and walk away with, while I cheer "Good Girl!!" or a box with holes that I cover my stick under a blanket and move the yarn that is connected to the end of the stick through various openings in the box so she needs to use her hearing and then pounce on the yarn and pull it out and the yarn is connected to a stuffed spider toy that she can grab and kick and chew.

They also have yummy snacks & drinks for the humans. The 'kitty litter' gourmet popcorn was really good & memorable too (from a local to them popcorn maker & shop).
