I put a custom tune on my single cab 2005 Daytona edition Ram 1500 and it doesn't shift from 3rd into 4th until 140mph on a 5 speed automatic. Haven't had the balls to see how fast it will actually go. Got it up to about 150 just once. Was able to turn off the speed limiter with a tuner. Was also able to set custom shift points for each gear of the transmission with the tuner. Helps to cut off cats and upgrade to a higher flow muffler.
What's wild is that my dad modded his 09 ram sport and it doesnt go into 3rd untill 140 and has a top speed of nearly 280, rams are too fast for their own good. It also has the 5 speed auto.
jdp2786 yeah the stock bottom end/short block will take 7000 rpm no problem, it's the valvetrain cam and lifters that don't like it, but to be a big truck that's crazy quick

I was pretty shocked at how much I’ve gotten out of her so far with such light mods and without even spending much money to get it there. The best 0-60 I got out of it stock was 6.8 and a 14.9 quarter. With just an intake, muffler delete, 180 thermo and Jay Greene tunes, my best 0-60 was 4.7 and a 13.2 quarter. I’ve surprised quite a few people racing lol. I appreciate the comments man!
Yeah the new 8 speeds manage much much better. I have 2019 ram pre runner well changed it to one. I would get to 194 max barking off the limiter with all my gear in weight and running 37’s. I now since my custom bed cage and rear long travel have twin rear mounted tranny coolers I get like 178 temps max man and that’s going hard at 65-90mph on a trail!
@@jdp2786 but how did you bypass the governor/speed limiter. I'm tired of that needle climbing, than suddenly can't go faster than 104-105, and the Camry I blew past suddenly passes me back up because he has a higher speed limiter. Pisses me off. I have a 2015 1500.... Please teach me master.
You just need an i2, i3, or Trinity programmer from Diablosport. Trinity is the most expensive. You may be able to purchase a used programmer depending on the year of your truck. What year and model Ram do you have? I can help you further once I know what your truck is?

That’s the 1 regret I have is not buying 1 with 3.92’s. Not sure if you put all the miles on or if you bought it that way but someone’s done some hella drivin to have 53,000 on a 2019. @ Yael Sanchez I actually have a custom tune from Jay Greene. FCA locks their PCM’s on 2016 models and newer now as well so I had to order a completely new PCM from Diablosport as well.
You need to order an unlocked PCM and Tuner from Diablosport or there are are a couple of other places that do it. I‘m happy to help if you decided you want to go this route. Private message me and I can shoot you more details. Totally worth it!

That temp gauge when you stayed around 6000 rpm for a little long...but it pulls hard

i believe the big horn has the same diff as the sport which is a 3.92.

2016+ Rams and other FCA vehicles have locked PCM’s. You just have to order an unlocked PCM from Diablosport along with a tuner.
