    Mr. Blair, as a fellow Louisianian and a new Ram 2500 Cummins owner, just wanted to say thank you for your efforts and videos. I have learned so much from your "ramblings of an old man." I truly appreciate your knowledge and how you share it.

    Thanks for another excellent video.
    When ESC first came out, I thought it was a gimmick, but research shows it reduces single vehicle accidents, and single vehicle fatalities and injuries significantly. Reduces those lost control in a corner, lost traction in ice, or drifted off the road and jerked the wheel over correcting kinds of accidents.
    ESC was slow coming to heavier pickups, as technology usually is. My dually does not have ESC and one time I broke traction accelerating on a curved and graded on ramp towing a utility trailer. I expected reducing accelerator input to result in immediately regaining traction, but it slid quite a bit before it hooked up. ESC is definitely worth having imho.

    Nice Job Mr. Blair, very well explained - everything made sense. Happy you brought the "Jack-Knife" experience into the explanation when towing a trailer. I sure understand the the effect of the ESC system now
    MORE IMPORTANTLY - Really happy you told me that it is automatically in full time operation and gets DISENGAGED when I push the button. One gets so used to the fact that you only push a button when you want it to do something. Great Job!

    Another recommended time to disable ESC is when going onto sand, like at the beach. It can kill momentum by slowing wheel speed right when you need it most.

    Good video Marion. I like ESC. There used to some wild rides in the old days without ESC, ABC TC, etc. When I got new tune for my Mustang with a Kenne Bell on top, it wouldn't get off the line and just about died when the wheels started to spin. Had me scratching my head for half a day until I realized this tune didn't have the Traction Control disabled so I needed to do that when starting the engine.

    I’m not exactly sure,I think this system save me from crashing my 3500. Ram off the interstate and was heading for one of those cable barriers in the middle of the highways. Cruise was set at 75 and it happened so quickly I didn’t even have a chance to apply brakes. Probably won’t have been a good idea in anyway. But the truck straightened enough for me to continue riding the gravel and gradually pulled it back onto the highway. Never broke speed. Thought I was a goner. Really happened fast. Only damage was to my underwear.

I cant drift the gravel roads without it cutting power and correcting as over 30mph it kicks back on. My old 1500 i can whipp these corners sideways without issue. Do not want a truck babysitting unless i want it too like the given situation you mention nesr the end.

  • @valefur72
    @valefur72 3 года назад

    On some vehicles, pushing the button you set the ESC in partially off mode. That means that only the torque management is turned off. So you have power to the wheels to maintain the speed, but also the spinning control working. It's like having a limited slip differential. Useful uphill in snow conditions.
    The Promaster has this feature, for example.

    What about Deep Snow or Ice in 4WD with a truck that has the anti-spin rearend? Will this system effect the effectiveness of the Anti-spin?

    • @MarionBlair
      @MarionBlair  6 лет назад

      I'm pretty sure it's just like the Jeep. When the vehicle is in 4wd high range and the Electronic Stability Control System (ESC) is on, traction control uses the brakes and engine torque control to limit how fast the driven wheels can spin relative to the actual speed of the vehicle.

    • @kixforrest2358
      @kixforrest2358 6 лет назад

      Reason for my question was within a few forums many owners were/are having to push & hold this button for a few seconds, I think 10 to some what truly disable the system due to it was severely hampering the function of the anti-spin rearend. Which in snow/Ice is a bad thing: An owner wants his 4WD & Anti-spin working together & this little button keeps this from happening. Even though I know the system alone is a great addition to the Ram.
