Hi Lucy, Aunt Karen and I watched you fly that citation--great job! I am so glad you are enjoying your flying. I look forward to the day when you have your ATP and apply to United Airlines. I'll be happy to bring you in for a tour of the Washington Flight Operations Center and for a meet and greet with the Chief Pilot. Love, Uncle Jim
Always excited to see young people interested in aviation! I'm a CFII and I enjoy taking young folks on a ride along! Stay with it Lucy! You won't regret it.
I got the same experience back when I was a student pilot in a Phenom 300. Really sealed the deal for me. Now in college flying the SR20 working on ratings. Great video!
I remember my father giving me the same opportunities when I was younger. It was amazing. She had a great time! Pardon me if I asked this before, but what college are you flying in?
I wish I had the time to teach her (and had my Instructors rating). She's learning from a great instructor locally. Hopefully I can get her in more videos in the future to go over her progress!
I remember the first time I flew right seat in a citation. It was the original 525 CitationJet. My reaction was the same as her's, smiling ear to ear and just loving every minute. Stick with your training Lucy! You will be there someday soon!
It's so nice to see younger kids so interested in aviation and the joy, wonder and amazement on their face! The 3+ is such a great machine that even pilots of other jets have the same sort of reaction when they get a chance to fly in one.
You're a top man for taking Lucy along. I'll bet she can't wait to get in the Skyhawk again. Always turn on the passenger lights 'cuz we're riding with you!
Lucy you are among the few lucky to have several well accomplished mentors. Very free do, take FULL advantage of it to cultivate best safe pilot practices. Thank them later!
Thank you for the kind replies yesterday, yes please tell Lucy to keep on with career in aviation its an awesome career. Very cool, keep videos coming if possible sure enjoy them!

Wally, what a great intro to jet aviation for Lucy. Lucy, I can tell that you are going to be a great pilot. Your composure and interest in the flight controls are a good foundation for your 172 training. If you are anything like me, you will cherish every hour in flight. It only gets better from here! Wally, you have yet another pair of sunglasses. Or are those the ones you bought in France? Very enjoyable vlog. -- Randy
Ha! The sunglasses I used on the rest of my flights in Europe is a pair that I keep in the plane in just in case. These were back in Wilmington, and I used them until I got my re-ordered pair. Thanks for the kind words for Lucy! She enjoyed the heck out of it, and I got to take her sister with me when I picked up the plane from Greensboro!
I totally agree. Every chance I get I try to take kids up! She just happened to already be interested in Aviation before I had the chance to take her flying!
@@lucycongema You are welcome. You did really well. I am quite envious. I am in the UK and learning to fly is an expensive desire here. So i am an armchair pilot! I hope to see some more of your flying soon. Bravo!
This was a great video to see!! I learned so much from watching an ILS approach!! I forgot to tell you I have my checkride coming up!!! Your content has definitely been a HUGE INSPIRATION man!! Can't thank you enough!! And Lucy... GREAT JOB FLYING!!! Definitely see the excitement on that takeoff and coming into the clouds!! Isn't this stuff so freaking awesome??!!!! :) All the best!

Great job Lucy! Keep up the good work! I am working on my IFR and let me tell you it is a challenge. Trust the process and do not give up it is worth it.
Excellent video !! Well done Lucy - flying a jet must be awesome !! Wish you all the best for the rest of flight training, gaining that PPL. Just realised its my alt channel that subscribed, you got a another vote from me.

Cockpit item to brief, when the ATC and i are talking, please hold your question until i am done with what i am doing. i dont think she lost her smile the entire trip!
That is a good guess, but she was briefed on that both before this flight and before the flight in my Arrow. She knew our tail number and if I put my hand in the air to stop talking :-) Her smile was definitely there the entire time!
I'm trying to get some other views of her amazement up on FB and Instagram. Look for those in the next few days. I'm glad I can give back to Aviation because it's done so much for me!
OK, Wally, I sprained my shoulder, patting myself on the back. That was too easy... you should have shown Lucy a V-1 cut. It's too bad the tops weren't at ten so Lucy could have seen what real IFR is. (Check your email). Lucy... congratulations on your decision to learn to fly. Whether you're satisfied attaining your Private license, or you're the pilot of the first Martian lander, it's a career field unlike any other. One of my very best, lifelong friends was a lady named Evelyn "Pinky" Brier. Pinky was the very first female licensed flight instructor, back in the 1930s, and flew as a corporate/charter pilot into her seventies. Pinky had approximately fifty-thousand-hours when she retired, and is credited for making more landings at Los Angeles International Airport than any other pilot. Now, have Wally loan you his copy of my book, "Broken Controller: an Air Traffic Controllers Story." It describes my life as a controller, commercial, corporate pilot and flight instructor. Welcome aboard... you can 'bust minimums' with me... any day....
Excellent video! Congratulations Lucy for starting your flight training. You will meet some of the best people in aviation. Are you interested in aviation for a career? Airlines or corporate?
Bingo! I'm enjoying all of the great suggestions from everyone. Did you catch how much pressure was in the bottle? It had a slow leak and I was taking it over to GSO to have it looked at and fixed. Turned out to be the regulator.
Hello, my name is Jorge and I live in Santiago of Chile. I have flown C 172 I have a doubt, Can I do a question?. In minute 5:01 show the speed brake, but, What is the device that is seem the speed brake and is between the speed brake and the wing tip? Thanks.
That's a great question, and you're the second person to ask this. I *believe* it's just a strake. It's located on the back side of the wing next to each aileron, and it's used to help the airflow across the back of the wing/aileron. It is NOT a moveable control surface.
@@AccidentalAviator One more question I have seen your plane near the sea. There is a lot of salt air in that place that facilitate the corrotion Does the plane need a special kind maintenance to prevent the corrosion?
@@JorgeAlarcare Great question! The plane gets a full bath frequently and the engines get desalinization rinses at least once a month (this is an actual Williams Engine procedure)
Good guess! We talked about that before she got in this plane (and my plane the day before). Also, she's taking lessons right now, so she's familiar with most things in the cockpit.

That's more of a small plane briefing item (to crack a door open). You wouldn't be able to do that, and you'd want to be strapped in your seat if you were doing any type of emergency landing. Plus, there's no door in the cockpit :-) BTW, she was briefed on how to open both the cabin door and the emergency exit.
