This video was amazing for me as a creator who streams and also uploads on multiple different channels. Really appreciate the transparency on this one!
10:45 - 12:45 ... I watched this section several times. It resonated with me - and I will focus on this segment in this comment. If a problem appears uninteresting then it may be that its boundaries and scope are ill-defined. The scenario where the wrong questions are being asked and thus the hunt for the answers to those questions ends up irrelevant. Even so - fair enough - if a field fails to capture one's interest then it makes sense to move on. Influencers have a lot of power - and a fair portion of that power seems cemented in the herd mentality (the follow because followed effect)... The point on depression and loneliness seems to be... on-point. In the same way that people listen to the radio because they like listening to people discussing whatever, so too would people enjoy watching social streams. There is that human element that, for a lonely person, adds value to the stream/ broadcast - regardless of whether the streamer actually directly cares about them. Of course - there is also the question of why humans feel lonely at a time when human populations have never been higher and population densities have never been greater - but I suspect that I'm getting off-track here... Thank you for the food for thought.
I got a bit mad when you were on the Scuffed Podcast when people were going against you about this topic. And yeah, Its incredibly saddening knowing how lazy streamers and other content creators are about their business(It is a business even if you're half of what XQC is), especially if you really like the creators themselves and what they're creating. Hoping at least a few streamers that are "big" would listen to this video and try to take advice from Nerd Fusion or Devin.
The idea that Devin is passionate about making people happy and not making as much money as is humanly possible without looking like a jerk is a tough cookie to swallow. Its the worst business plan ever.
Found your channel today, watched a few of your latest, more business oriented videos like this and the Shroud one, really enjoy the insight and knowledge you bring to the community, keep it up!
I mean while you might disagree with the fundamental idea behind Xqc giving away RUclips money. Consider this: 1) Xqc is making a small amount from RUclips. Assuming he’s not putting any work in at all, he’s only making money from Adsense which is like nothing compared to what he makes on twitch. 2) Making Videos on RUclips is one of the BEST ways to increase exposure for a twitch channel. 3)Xqc’s RUclips channel creates better content with the editor editing than it would if Xqc edited it. Now I’m not saying Xqc SHOULD be doing this. But he’s basically took an unofficial RUclips. Integrates into his brand and is benefiting from it. There are other implications but its a cool idea to think about it
1) with a CPM of 3$ which is very average in his category, last 30 days his channel generated 90k$ of revenue. You can't say an editor desserves 54k$ a month for editing clips from existing livestream and putting on a thumbnail. I don't mind editors getting their fair share but that's way too much (and I edit my shit alone for 4 years) 2) Yes true but here it's not about should he do it or not but more like, shouldn't the icon/personality where the success originates from get a bigger piece of a cake he made himself in vast majority ... It's his content that people want to watch, not the fruit of the editor skills... 3) Still, better worth of a few dozens of thousands of $ bonus? That sounds like a salary difference that one of the best editor in the world would get, is the guy really this good he makes 6 figures in three months? Isn't it the way around? A guy took benefit of xQc's brand without asking his permission and rather than striking him (which is something some big icons in streaming do...) he gave him a shot at keep on doing what made him money, legally. And i'm far from being againt editors, i'm one myself. I just don't think it's a fair split, at the end of the day, an editor of a successful brand should get a fixed salary + a small % of the adsense. I'd love to know how their tax work, who owns the ytb channel and who pays the taxes on the overall revenue, there is no way they did a contract around that and xQc is taxed on his share/the editor on his. Must be a huge mess as Devin says, "streamers are lazy in business".
Great talk. Yeah this seems stupid but i guess having youtube is better than not having one and earn him money. If he doesn't wanna invest any time into making youtube it's probably better than not having one. I guess that's the only +
I always lurk on your videos and you’ve provided SO much value being a business person and gamer/nerd. I’m going to be emailing you soon. I’d love to chat about furthering my career as an influencer

The reason XCQ or anyone can make this much money is BECAUSE of youtube. So they have every right.
I would argue 99% of twitch streamers need a talent and not an agency lol
I literally love your videos. So smart and factual with the stuff you talk about. Also most of your opinions resonate with that of my own.

how do i know when i should look for an agency for my Twitch? am i too small or doesn't matter on size>?
so it a yes or no ?
Pewdiepie has talked about this a lot that for the longest time he wasnt hardly making any money on his huge channel because he wasn't monetizing well

Not to mention the guy who's doing XQC's RUclips stuff is still doing the videos he was doing before on his own channel

Wonder what Docs editor makes.

Hey Devin I don't know if you have talked to Harris Heller but I think you'd get along well.

You look like Vinny from Jersey Shore’s long lost brother.
What "art" does xqc do? he's just really good at a video game.If he wasn't talented at that he'd be another shit bag online.
People call the show they put on, if you can call it a show.
First
really interesting statement of intent
put that shit on a plaque
